Pessimist and hater of positive news! The project will kickoff next year to your consternation.
If I am pessimistic about Nigeria, I will not be here....Deep down and truth in your honest thought you know it is a promise. Even Engineering has not been done....I am not talking about funding yet.....

A bit hollow and thin on details. Since Abba Kyari died, this project seemed to have hit the rocks. What the Power Minister should do is prepare a simple 1 page roadmap to achieving 25000MW with key milestones and who to hold accountable for each phase. There is no visible coordination or competency displayed so far to make this a reality. Why can't the Egyptian model be adopted with slight tweaks to suit our local peculiarities? This is the reason the late Kyari took it away from Ministry officials and people were lambasting him. Now they have the opportunity but are slacking big time.

PMB is doing what past administrations since 1960 couldn't do, all in less than 8 years.

While OBJ and his looting and stealing gang looted $16 billion power funds and gave us darkness in return..

God Bless PMB..

Only if Buhari had concentrated on this since 2015, build it till finish. He will eventually become a president to remember for developmental stride but for now it is only killing that he would be remembered for.

To be completed in 2025, what if the new government in power by then discontinues the project? What's stopping them from completing it by 2023? Nigerian government and unnecessary dragging of projects till it gets abandoned.

Okay

"The power project will have three phases: to take Nigeria’s operational capacity of the grid from less than 5,000MW to 7000MW by 2021; further increase the capacity to 11,000MW by 2023; and achieve total operational generation and national grid capacity to 25,000MW by 2025.

In July 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari approved the payment of €15.21 million and N1.708 billion as counterpart funding for the PPI.

Speaking on the new development, Suleiman said the pre-engineering phase of the project would be completed in 10 months."

“We are not adding any generation capacity but we want to make sure that we fix the dilapidated transmission and distribution networks.

“We are doing the pre-engineering for the distribution network of this country. We have already got a letter of credit from the Federal Government to start it.

“The design is done in our head office. For the transmission scope, we were given initially 11 sites; they have added 22 sites.

“Execution is when you go to sites. But in the next three months, we want to start putting the proposal for phase one together, not when we finish the pre-engineering.

“So, if phase one goes into reality before the end of the current administration, it means we would have been able to move from 4,500MW to 7,000MW.”

Useless people. No sensible country still runs National Grid. Decentralize this thing, let every state generate it's power, and sell the excess to it's neighboring state that can't generate enough!

Every year we hear the same thing. Go to other African countries and you will weep for Nigeria. I wonder why FG will allow diesel and generator importers hold us to ransom.

I’d rather call him a realist. Air Nigeria comes to mind. Did you find out why 3 years down the line from initial discussions with less than 18 months to the end of this regime they are still using the future tense. Anyways, why am I bothered, even the minister knows this is going nowhere, of course he couldn’t be there in person.

I won't say she was asking any kid of genuine question with her condescending and deceptive remarks, the Chancellor is not the head or the representative of Siemens, so why ask her that ignorant question?

Was a Siemens PR person at Siemens HQ in Germany not available to answer her questions or to properly educate her?

The Chancellor even surgested that maybe local content issue is one of the stumbling blocks, so do you know the meaning of local content? The Nigerian government is making sure that Nigerians like you are adequately represented, employed and able to put food on the table.

Igbos are all the same everywhere, they don't miss any opportunity to purvey their hateful and anti Nigeria madness.

She needs to stick to her bigoted biafra essays or STFU.

An ambitious project, no doubt. While Buhari and APC are discredited and not worthy of support, we cannot give up on the country. I hope and pray this leads to success. Amin.
Don't hope on the hopeless. It's easy to see over this one. For a project expected to begin in the first quarter of next year, still, we don't know where the project would be situated, what the source of power would be, how much it would cost, or how the funding would be sourced. If you have been a Nigerian as long as I have you would tell when the government is taking you for a ride.
