They do not because of the support they receive from you and me typical.
I do not know of any public office holder or politician that has been universally condemned in Nigeria since independence for misdeeds.
They will always find a support base, a willing citizenry who will not quit smoking to aid their cancer treatment.
When an individual, group or system is universally condemned the law is strengthened to take its course.
The law is only as strong as the citizens want it to be.

This fellow in question does not have a support base so it is easy to get justice for the victim. But the infamous Sani Abacha has a great support base even in death and I bet if he was alive no one will even dream of prosecuting him for his grand misdeeds.

And that is why we will always call for the restructuring of this country so we can develop a universal identity, sort out what constitutes right and wrong as an acceptable way to live in our nation.

Story for the gods, they use the state machinery to intimidate and supress the masses. Endsars report in Lagos is a case study

And pen robbers are so kind to the Nation the masses they inflict pain on? hypocrite, scammers defraud only one victim while the pen robbers inflict misery on the entire masses. Who are among the two are more justified?

How many of the pen robbers have you brought evidence against and prosecuted? You just said they defraud many which means you are one of the victims, why have you not exercised your rights? The man that was defrauded exercised his rights and lucky for him he got justice, stop being complacent and do your part! Stop waiting for some miracle and be the architect of your own destiny, if you're brave enough!

Show me a Nigerian that has never duped anybody .

Lets stop being hypocritical here.

175 years because it was a caucasian that he duped?

The person duped was also likely trying to make money illegally so should also be prosecuted and jailed.

What a nation! What a judiciary?

A Nigerian court sentenced a Nigerian man to 175 years in jail for a theft of less than $650,000 (less than N350 million) from an individual (American citizen).

How come a Nigerian judicial officer only found Abdulrasheed Maina deserving of 16 years in principle (but actually 8 years in reality), despite the huge theft running into several billions of Naira from several thousands of Nigerian pensioners many of whom have died waiting for retirement benefits that refused to come.

It is now very clear that judiciary is a major factor in Nigeria's problems. No fairness, No impartiality. A nation where the 4th candidate was declared a sitting governor.

Where a governor elect paid for the sin of the running mate and the distant second was enthroned.

What a nation!!! What a judiciary!!! Can we find just 10 incorruptible and apolitical judges in Nigeria?

175 years? If the sentences do not run concurrently, it means he will serve out his term in the grave

How about Maina, the Fulani pension thief, who wrecked the lives of millions of elderly Nigerians? How many years did he get?

Stupid Nigerian judges!
Almost 200 years for a sum not upto a million dollars?
Is that what the law says or the idiot judge was taking it personal?
This is not supporting scammers but that judgement is horrendous!
Even the American involved must r scandalized with the outcome..
If this guy was tried in an American court, he won't get anything close to this..

You are shallow for even asking a judge if that's what the law says! Do you know how many charges were brought against him, how many he was found guilty of and how many maximum years each charge attract?
And if someone could be heartless to steal money from another person to the tune of 315 million naira, such person does not only deserve life sentence but death sentence. Who knows if his victim already dead or in worse condition?

like seriously the double standard is quite bemusing. Orji uzor Kalu stole 7.1 billion and he was sentenced to just six months in prison. Whether he even served the jail term is left to God. Nawao!

"Less than 350 million naira," I'm shocked! Shocked, not by the sentence but by your comment. I'm even tempted to ask you your family's worth going by your choice of words?
Do you realise that he stole that much amount from a single person? And if Maina stole much more and got less sentence compared to this, does that necessarily mean that this one too should have gotten less than what Maina got? What about you saying that Maina should have gotten more than what this dude got? You people should try to apply sense once in a while
