If you remember in my previous post on my resigning from my place of work and focus on my bike full time, I wrote to the school management informing them that I will not continue with them since they don't buy the idea of combining their work and my bike.

So some weeks ago, they asked that I leave their apartment on or before 21st December.

After some days, they called to ask if I had left, to which I told them I have not gotten a place yet.

So they extended to today being Friday, 24th.

This evening, the owner of the school (an elderly man) came to the apartment to throw my stuffs out that I must leave their school since they didn't sack me. That I choose to resign.

I explained to him that I have not been able to get a place.

When I now told him I needed him to pay me for December so I could add to my money and get a place.

Na there the man flare up, rushed inside the apartment and started throwing my shoes away and as if that wasn't enough he rushed out and went to the metal pole used to hold the car wheel used as bell and rushed towards me and hit my leg with it. I thought this man was joking, he targeted my head and missed.

Immediately I felt my colleague held the rod, I looked at my leg and saw blood gushing out.

I am contemplating reporting to the police with the injury.

But I still want seek counsel from you guys whether it's wise doing that.

I just regret not video recording it. That would have been a stronger proof.

You have a case, he cannot eject you if he his owing you. But if its DEC salary that is half and ended on the 12th or 13th, it can be tricky cos he will claim DEC has not ended and so the monthly circle is still running. All you can do now is report to the police, he has absolutely no right to inflict bodily injury on you. He took the laws into his hands. You get very tricky case, e fit favor u e fit no favor u.

Someone gave you Job and gave you apartment. You left the job but want to keep the apartment...how possible is that?

Go to the police station and report this don’t wait until he break your head before doing the needful, the timing is too short they should Give you at least 3 weeks eviction notice before acting so dramatic

This is quite immature and wrong of a school proprietor and elder... What sort of poor example is he setting like this?!!

But you sef... You suppose don arrange this accommodation matter before even throwing in the damn towel! When they gave you the notice to quit, why didn't you properly appeal for and negotiate a better date to move out?!!

You want to keep enjoying their accommodation while not offering them your tutoring services... Only few people will be that lenient and accommodating (pun intended)!

Better quickly find a temporary place to squat/live till you get back on your feet financially before Dem poison or even assassinate you for nothing!!!

I'm not even sure OP has a case here, he's no longer a staff, he resigned so he has no rights to stay there. He might be seen as an intruder and I'm not sure if it's against the law to attack an intruder in my own house.

OP, next time , make necessary plans before you take action. You should have gotten an apartment for yourself or a place to squat before resigning. But your mistake doesn't warrant such barbaric attitude from the Proprietor/Principal. I'll advise you to report to the station or get someone to help me beg for more time to get an apartment for you.

Thanks to everyone who commented, I took the wrong step. But even at that, the man had not right to become violent over the matter.

If not just because of the respect I have for my father, I for show that man say, he's an old man.

Also he's so lucky that I didn't record the event else I would have dealt with him with it by the time I send the video online and to all their parent.

I was able to get a self contain room this afternoon!

So am leaving there to face my life!

The condition for using that apartment is working with them, now that you don't want to work with them why are you using their property? Instead of you to wait until you secure a place before informing them of your decision, you foolishly mess up. Put yourself in their shoes, would you have allowed someone that is not working for you to stay in an apartment meant for your workers.
BTW, the man have no right hit you, but you would have respected yourself and move out.

That’s not a rented apartment with agreement papers. It’s a free accommodation. Do you get that now?

I will not mince words with you. You are not entitled to your December salary because you resigned. If they sacked you, then they will be owing you. You also have no right to stay in that apartment. You should have considered the accommodation situation before tendering your resignation. You are even lucky you were given until Christmas eve. Don't push your luck. Leave the apartment ASAP. The oldie was wrong to have attacked you though.

you should have used ur common sense, you chose to resign from your work knowing that the same job that offered you accommodation. Before you submit your resignation letter you should have make sure you have a place to put ur head. Telling the boss to pay you December salary before you move out of his apartment is another foolish thing you shouldn't have done
