President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday said the opposition can take over in 2023 if the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) fail to put its house in order.

The president who was responding to a question during an exclusive interview on Nigerian National Television Authority (NTA) monitored by Daily Independent on whether the APC can put its house in order before its national convention said the APC should learn from the fate that befell the PDP in the 2015 general elections.

According to him, the PDP which was then the ruling party was so arrogant and never believed that opposition parties could unite and come together to contest the presidential election.

He added that by the time the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) merged, it was too late for the PDP to realise its mistake.

“Well, we have a time frame. We have to work because the four-year cycle is constitutional; it cannot be interfered by anybody. So, if the party cannot agree, then the opposition can take over”.

“What did the PDP do? They thought that the opposition cannot agree and come together. But when the ACN, ANPP, CPC, APGA came together, they were off. They are still off. So, they can see it” he said.

The only problem in APC is about tinubu presidency and the maltreatment of his acn group

Buhari talking like this simply means he wants tinubu to come to terms with his own ownership of the party and direction for 2023

The threat of loosing to pdp is actually real because buhari don't give a bleep if atiku wins presidency

I think he wants Atiku to succeed him
Truthisunique:
Since buhari became president since 2015 all he does is talk about the merger in 2015

Is the honeymoon not yet over, or you saw your self as a misfit that over achieved?

Na next year you dey go, yet still talking like someone aspiring to be president

Take what he said serious at your own risk. Interview that wasn’t “LIVE”
I keep wondering, doesn’t Pmb watch CNN to see how US president is been interviewed live like 4-5 times a day??
The only thing that gives me joy in this country is that I’ve put my trust in God full time.

By virtue of your position, you are the leader of the party and your party faithfuls are looking unto you to resolve the crisis within the party. You becoming president today is not by your power or might. Do you know the number of times you contested and failed which also made you to cry. Had Tinubu, Amechi, Onu and some other big stakeholders in the opposition not come together and dropped their individual interest, you wouldn't have become the president today. These people devoted their resources to make you win the primaries and also campaigned vigorously in every geo-political zones of the country to market you. The best thing for you to do is to make sure APC ticket is zoned to southern part of the country and let all interested candidates jostle for it in the primaries. Also ensure all internal issues in APC are resolved so as not to give opposition an edge. I believe APC has competent candidate from the south. People like Tinubu, Osinbajo, Amechi, Umahi, Fashola etc can make a difference if given the chance. These guys can assemble technocrats that will turn around this country.

the time is now for the people to tabled their deal by flooding the street with the New motto
People's Republic of Southern Nigeria shall become reality
Power must be with the Nigeria people not The Federal system (structure) itself (A government without guidance from the people will end up eating itself "citizens" with brute force)
We the people must take this stand, A constitution written for the people by the people
A true People Empire
A dream worth giving the future generations of Nigerians

Honestly, Buhari is a wicked man. He is doing all these on purpose because he does not want to handover to Tinubu. Meanwhile, without the help of God and Tinubu's many resources (men, intellects, and finances), he wouldn't have become the President. Either you haters like it or not, destiny helpers like Tinubu is needed in our lives for us to achieve the goals or aspiration destiny has for us. My question is will you guyz treat your destiny helpers the way Buhari is treating Tinubu? Haba! Think twice. Buhari is an ingrate, is this how the party was when he was preparing to become the President pre-2015? He has the power to ensure peace in the party. As a matter of fact, he has hands in the crises of the party just to frustrate some people in the party. Na him sabi!

Note: I have not said it is a must Tinubu must become the President, but at least, let him have maximum sense of appreciation and respect.
