You are the one that is actually ignorant. That Finland and Sweden occasionally takes part in NATO drills doesn't mean NATO will come to it's defense if Russia invades them. By Finland and Sweden joining Nato, it basically means these 2 countries are now NATO territories and any attack on any of this country will trigger a NATO response. And also, as members of NATO, NATO will be able to deploy strategic weapons in Finland and Sweden (which NATO couldn't do when Sweden and Finland were not in NATO, even though they took part in NATO drills).

Secondly, please, who told you the US has always wanted Ukriane? Is Ukraine even in the Baltic area? Of the 9 countries that bound the Baltic sea, 7 of those countries are already in NATO. If Sweden and Finland joins NATO, it will mean ALL countries in the Baltic area are in NATO except Russia. So what are you saying?
