Greatkenny2: Even if there is a consensus candidate, elections would be conducted. Only that all or most candidates will step down for the consensus candidate and ask delegates who had committed to them to instead vote for the consensus candidate. |

There is absolutely nothing they can do. The governors has power. They determine where the delegates vote. |

.Urging Nigerians to disregard the report, Onu stressed that neither the Governors Forum nor Northern Governors had any moral or constitutional jurisdiction to determine the political fate of the South. Very true. It is a misstep to thank Northern governors for telling Buhari to rotate power to South. It is beyond their call. Moreover, when Oyegun screened aspirants he asked their opinion on consensus. Buhari also told the governors before departing to Spain to support the party in choosing a candidate. The issue of consensus is strictly a party affair and a negotiation exclusively between aspirants and party. If the party announces a candidate, the aspirants have the right to object or accept that candidate, no other input will matter on the issue. It is ok that governors are acting as advocates in conflict resolution but only aspirants can express agreement or disagreement on consensus. Northern governors are not doing anything unique by going to talk with Buhari....if the Southern govs have some sense that's their call, they should have been the ones rushing to Villa and confronting Buhari and Adamu. 1 Like |

At the rate APC is going they may not have a candidate in 2023. There are already so many lacuna in their process for legal fireworks to begin after the election. 2 Likes |

Why are those aspirants from the south east complaining that only one of them is chosen?. All they need to do is to ensure they deliver votes to the only candidate chosen from their zone and in that way he stands a better chance of winning. That is if they actually care about south east presidency. |

Merseycider:Buhari wants them to choose a consensus. Meaning the aspirants will have to choose one person among them. If my aggrieved brothers from the east choose Lawal they are higher in number definitely he will go for it. Meaning no delegate election. |
