Obasanjo, who was an ex-military Head of State before he was elected as a civilian President in 1999, said he was a farmer by choice and not by accident.

Speaking on Saturday on a live radio interview with Segun Odegbami on Eagles7 Sports 103.7 FM, Abeokuta, Obasanjo said he was always proud to be addressed as a farmer.

Odegbami had asked Obasanjo to speak about what he termed his “romance with farming.”

In response, the former president said, “I don’t like the word you used, ‘romance with farming’. I am a farmer. What do you mean by romance. Everything I have done in my life is by accident. The only thing that is not accidental is farming. Every other thing that I’ve been is by accident. And you called that romance? No! What do you mean by romance?

“You know my beginning. I was born and bred in a village. I went to school by accident. My father just said, ‘won’t you do something different?’ So I went into farming.

“When you look at countries that have made it, they developed on agriculture. First, for the purpose of food security; second, for the purpose of processing what they get from their farms, which is the beginning of industrialisation. Third, to give it out as export, which is for the purpose of foreign exchange; and fourth, as a means of generating employment for the youth.”

Meanwhile, Obasanjo advised Nigerian youths to take over leadership positions right now.

Obasanjo said youths should not allow anyone to address them as leaders of tomorrow, saying the tomorrow may never come.

Obasanjo said some corrupt leaders would destroy the so-called tomorrow if the younger generation failed to rise up and take their future in their hands.

He said, “My advice for Nigerian youths is that, never let anybody tell you that you are the leaders of tomorrow. If you wait for tomorrow before you take over leadership, that tomorrow may not come. They will destroy it.

“This is the time, youths get up and make it happen.”

It's very obvious that Baba Iyabo was an accidental President.

Now we have the chance to elect a man that is prepared and capable of doing the job not by accident but by planning and preparation.
Bola Hamed Tinubu is a man that has prepared for the job and is capable with his past experiences and antecedent.

Don't allow your judgement to be clouded by tribal and religious sentiments, vote for the man with the best record of getting things done.
Check the records of the candidates and vote for the one with the best record. - Easy one for me - Bola Hamed Tinubu is by far ahead of the others.

I don’t understand this.

There’s nowhere in the write up the heading was mentioned.

Everything he has done in his life was by accident doesn’t mean he became president by accident.

He contested and won.

See Obj dishing advice like he was one the finest African presidents.

Divine intervention more like. Here you have a man whose Oga was assassinated and who became the de facto Head of State, a man who was incarcerated and marked for death but was saved, only to turn around and once again become President. grin

This is just OBJ trying to tell the world that he never believed he would become president, so no bastard has the right to say that igbos are minority and cannot produce presidency.

So Atiku, kwankwaso, Shettima and some of Tinubu's henchmen should watch what they say over the man like, Peter Obi that the almighty God has ordained to liberate Nigeria from the shackles of bondage

True word... "That tomorrow may never come."

Obasanjo, buhari, Murtala were all youths in their 30s when they first became the president of this country, what happened to our today's youth?

Obasanjo is the Fela of today grin

He took an Igbo man, Alex Ekwueme’s, chance.

But Igbos voted for him regardless in demonstration of our patriotism and forgiveness.

But some Yorubas said it must be criminal Tinubu.

He who fails to plan, will plan to fail..

Most of our Democratically elected Presidents were never prepared ...

- Obasanjo 1999 ....accidental..coming at the back of June 12 and the willingness of the military to allow Democracy...He was chosen to pacify Yoruba...he was not prepared.

He should have learn on the job and do better during his seconds term...but was chasing third term bid.

-Musa Yar'adua 2007.... Accidental...Obasanjo forced him on PDP and he won....he died in office.. and accidental VP GEJ became president.

-GEJ 2011....had little to learn on the job after he completed Late Yar'adua's tenure...he was busy with his own re-election bid and he won..One will think his previous 2years was enough to learn..but no...he was also busy with re-election in 2015..which he unfortunately lost.

-PMB 2015…..Being a former head of States during Military era, and haven competed in 3 Presidential elections prior to this time, one would expect him to be over prepared. He was voted for overwhelmingly..and was expected to hit ground running. Unfortunately, he agreed Democracy was entirely different from Military regime...He had to start learning Democracy and couldn't do anything during his first term. He was given another chance in 2019...but, till date...He never learn and he is even tired...he wants to quickly go and rest after his tenure.

What happens in 2023
We have about top 4 contenders, who have govern this country in democratic dispensation under various capacities as Governors, Senators and even VP.
I can only hope they are prepared and non of them will be accidental President!
