Labour Party is new and enlightening people in rural areas on party logo may be a challenge. Someone who knows someone in Labour Party should encourage them to buy Labour Party branded wristbands for old women and men in rural areas so they can easily identify the party logo.

This is an intelligent contribution from someone who wants LP to win the election. Coming online to insult people in the name of Labour Party or Peter Obi doesn't add value to the quest to take back Nigeria from these old thieves. This movement needs intelligent contributions from all and sundry.

Indications emerged on Sunday that the camps of Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and that of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), are jittery over the rising popularity of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), among the youths.

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the three major political parties, APC, PDP, and LP, are currently strategising to lure youths, who constitute the larger percentage of the voting population into their fold.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which just concluded its Continuous Voter’s Registration (CVR) exercise across the country in its latest report disclosed that about 71% percent of the 12.2 million newly registered voters are youths.

According to the statistics released by the electoral umpire, about 8.7 million are between the ages of 18 and 34 while about 2.4 million are between the ages 35 and 49.

Those between ages 50 and 69 are about 856, 017 while about 127, 541 are over 70.

Since the return of democracy in 1999, the presidential election has always been a twohorse race between the APC and PDP.

However, it appears it will be a different scenario in the 2023 presidential election with the entrance of Peter Obi who is the presidential candidate of the Labour Party.

Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, had already purchased the PDP presidential form but withdrew from the race few days to the primary to join the Labour Party.

Since then, support for him has grown tremendously with many youths pledging to work for his victory in next year’s presidential election.

Daily Independent gathered that the three parties in their bid to win the 2023 presidential election are currently working assiduously to curry the support of youths and also engage in youth-centric campaigns when INEC lifts the ban on political campaigns by September ending.

A credible source in the Labour Party said former President Olusegun Obasanjo who in recent times has raised the alarm over myriads of unresolved problems under the APC-led administration is working round the clock to amass support for the party and Obi in the 2023 elections.

Speaking with Daily Independent, Festus Asiriuwa, a chieftain of the PDP, said while many youths have shown interest in the 2023 presidential election, it cannot be said that all of them joined because of Obi or will vote for Labour Party in the election.

“Yes, I saw the INEC statistics about 71 percent of newly registered voters being youths but the truth is that are all these youths supporters of Obi? While it is true that Obi has resurrected Labour Party from the dead and he will divide the votes in 2023, it is wrong to say all the youths who recently registered are for him.

“Do you know the number of youths also clamouring for Atiku and Tinubu? So, let’s just wait and see but I can tell you, this will be the most interesting election we have ever seen”.

Bashiru Apapa, Deputy National Chairman of the Labour Party, said the party will win the 2023 presidential election given Obi’s growing popularity, especially among the youths. Speaking during a sensitisation for Labour Party members in Ekiti State, Apapa said, “There are some people who you may not believe are coming up to support Obi; some leaders up to heads of state are in support of Obi.

Many governors, more than five of them, are supporting the party underneath. We don’t want to mention their names for now.

“It is because of the way Obi performed before. Again, not all of them believe that Nigeria should continue the way it is going now.

They want change, better and positive change for that matter, not like the other change we experienced in the past.”

On its part, the South-West Agenda for Asiwaju 2023 (SWAGA’ 23) on Sunday said despite the rise of the Labour Party, the 2023 presidential election is a two-horse race between Atiku and Tinubu.

Otunba Bosun Oladele, National Secretary of SWAGA, said most supporters of Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate, are only making noise on social media and making movements without motion.

According to him, the recently concluded Osun governorship election and the primaries held across the country few weeks ago have proven that social media noise does not translate to votes during elections.

Why should the PDP & APC be worried about Peter Obi/Datti Ahmed who are only on social media & tweeter
Why is the PDP & APC not worried about Kwankwaso who has the supports of the entire North in his kitty

Abeg remove that Labor party from the WhatsApp group of political parties strategizing that u added them to, biko! It has never been about the party, but the candidate himself! If ObiDatti shud take themselves elsewhere, LP might never ever recover from the graveyard silence that’ll hit them next. I do hope they’ve sacked that buffoon SM handler that sullied the hard work & private funds of the Nasarawa one million man march with pics from Kenya! That is not the Nigeria we’re building with Peter Obi. But then, we’re also reminded that even Jesus had a Judas amongst his twelve!

That's my greatest fear. And the trend will continue, same set of people, different party. Before you know it, they will spoil his administration if not, they will cause an impeachment move for selfish interests. I don't know why there should not be a law banning cross carpeting among the politicians for more than 8 years.
Nigeria is no more a country, the better we understand unless serious youth revolutions happen.

If one thing should give you guys hope atleast , it is that now the election is between three major parties and not two. PDP and APC have milked this nation dry. Let’s try another, if they fail, another will rise to replace the failure.

I am an Obi supporter but this your comment is a wrong assumption. Why don’t you vote for Labour Party NASS candidates as well and not hope APC or PDP legislators would jump ship. The goal is to vote LP at both presidential and NASS levels, then vote whatever party you wish at the state levels.

Peter Obi.
The man can’t leave the mouth of stomach infrastructure parties.
He made LP opposition party and enemy of both APC/PDP.
He discovered Fact Checkers Association for APC/PDP.
He can be interviewed anytime anywhere. He doesn’t need the microphone to be attached to his ear or brought to his foreign house.
The man that made youths interested in politics.

APC strategy is vote buying. They are banking on illiteracy. No Obidient attack any movement. We don’t care to verify. We all see the truths ( shaking hands, debatable age, health, bishops, drug, origin, education ).

APC/PDP are banking on tribalism, religion and hatred. We are banking on love. We will get the Nigeria we craved for our time. The status quo must change. No more octogenarians.

It’s Youth’ O’clock. Any youth that they bought his/her vote for APC/PDP for less than $20,000 is a fool.

Peter Obi becoming the president will be the best thing to happen to Nigeria.

Nigeria has been struggling to breathe under the APC and PDP

My sincere support for Peter Obi is on the basis of competence not because of money inducements, tribals sentiments etc... like most Tinubu and Atiku supporters.

First time the youths are spending their own money and resources to campaign for a candidate

Vote Peter Obi
Vote Labour party
