Intimidated? Hell No! If anything, my manipulative instincts kick in, and I start to fantasize about pulling a Kevin Federline on all these so called independent/ self-sufficient women.  grin

But on a serious note, an overwhelming majority of these independent women are guaranteed to fail in the dating world, because they delude themselves into thinking their independent persona is good enough grounds to be considered a worthy partner in the meat market.

I hate to break it to you OP, but being independent and self-sufficient is a given. It's a no-brainer. Bragging about being self-sufficient is as silly and redundant as mentioning that you're Nigerian on a date at tantalizers in Lagos ( or wherever people visit nowdays. ). There are many self-sufficient psychopathic/Naugthy-person  men and women and vice versa.

Again, I will reiterate. Being self-sufficient is nothing but a common sense attribute every human should strive for. It is not enough of a reason to be considered a worthy potential partner.

well to answer your question you have to notice the root problem which is the woman, you see the problem is not the man but the woman who will abuse this newly discovered leverage she has gained by being successful, whereas the successful man will not think much of it as it is his natural role and encoded into his DNA to protect and sustain the women.
Re: Are Men Really Intimidated By Successful & Independent Women? by pleep(m): 5:42am On Aug 21, 2011
^ Exactly. sucessfull women try and overcompensate, of course it depends on the individual, but the majority do.
Re: Are Men Really Intimidated By Successful & Independent Women? by MrsChima(f): 4:08pm On Aug 21, 2011
Majority of the men are intimidated by successful and independent women.

Someone posted a thread about Genny Nnaji deciding that she will take her time getting married and she wants to enjoying the dating scene.

I read every comment posted by the men and they expressed distaste in the fact she deemed independent and will grow old alone with her unwed child.

Being honest about reality bridge gaps between sources of the unknown.

Has this topic repeated itself at least a dozen times on nairaland. Anyways, I have no issues with a woman being independent and doing it big on their own. I would feel comfortable dating such a lady coz I feel more emphasis would be focused on getting to know each other rather than discussing money related matters each fortnight. That being said, there's a particular irritating trait among a lot of independent ladies that puts men off and that's BRAGGING! The poster displayed a bit of this. They always want to put it in your face each minute about how they pay their own bills, furthering their career and don't "really" need a man. This trait cheapens them and reminds me of a pig with a golden ring on it's snout! The guys already know you are doing okay. Is there any need for the excessive advertisement? I'm pretty sure these ladies would be pissed off if they were on a date with a guy who talked about how much his big mercedes cost and his 20 bedroom mansion every 10 minutes! Imagine how irritated you would be on a date with such a guy. That's EXACTLY how men feel when your success appears the only topic you're good in talking about. It kills the morale to pursue the relationship and has NOTHING to do with the so called "intimidation".
