ActionSA opposition party leader Herman Mashaba has apologised for his attack on South Africa's international relations and co-operation minister Naledi Pandor, admitting it was not right to “ridicule” her.

Mashaba reacted to an image online of Pandor wearing pumps, her feet swollen in the shoes, by suggesting it was “the best President Cyril Ramaphosa could offer South Africans to represent them internationally”.

It was slammed by many for body shaming the minister.

He later deleted his comments and apologised.

“I have deleted my tweet regarding Naledi Pandor. The original tweet I quoted was in terrible taste. I was wrong to share it, and I apologise.”

Pandor accompanied Ramaphosa on the state visit to the UK last week, with South Africa becoming the first country to be hosted by King Charles III. She told the media the trip symbolised the strength of the relationship between the two countries.

“We were thrilled and honoured when His Majesty indicated he wished the visit to proceed. The original invitation came from Her Majesty, the late Queen Elizabeth II. King Charles III said he wanted South Africa to visit, and we were excited we are the first country to be invited for a state visit.”

This is wrong. Why body shamming her when this or worse can happen to you in a second?

The advent of the internet truly exposed the weaknesses and excesses of Humans.

No wonder the creator regretted ever creating humans.

This is a wardrobe malfunction not a problem of weight. A woman of her caliber should know her shoe size for crying out loud.

Imagine a comment from a woman, I shake my head in disgust.

Can't you see the woman has an underlying health condition?

Total BS: The creation is a reflection of the creator. It's another offshoot of the creator that claims the creator is displeased with his creation.

It's not a health condition. She chose the wrong shoes and tried to squeeze her legs into it. Ask any woman around you, and she'll explain it to you.

Only ignorant people insults and body shame other people.

Some people are fat or have swollen feet because of medical conditions or medications .

You yourself could be suffering from serious medical conditions that you don't know yet and something worse that we can not see. You could die many years before her sef.

Serious people focus on meaningful things, but petty and shallow people focus on dumb and shallow things.

Dumbo ignorant idiots

Mixed reactions on social media

“Haibo Naledi!” trends as South African TikTokers roast the International Relations and Cooperation Minister’s Buckingham Palace attire.

Not only did Dr. Naledi Pandor walk the red carpet at Buckingham Palace in plain black pumps but her dress code did not fit with the expressly stately formal theme.

With the British royal family setting the tone for the state visit, welcoming SA’s President and other Ministers in strictly formal wear, Pandor turned up in flat pumps and a basic two-piece.

In a video that has been shared by the Royal Family’s supporters, Pandor’s disregard for a more suitable outfit did not go unnoticed.

TikTokers wasted no time in roasting their Minister for not making more of an effort with her fits and flooded the comments section with heavy criticism.

“Haibo Naledi! Did you really go to Miladys (store) for that fit?”

“Not the Pep (store) pumps on the red carpet at Buckingham Palace!”

“Just when you thought you’ve seen it all! Like seriously Naledi, Pep (store) is not the only store in SA you know!”

But it wasn’t just Naledi Pandor’s arrival outfit to the Palace that sparked a social media frenzy, her outdated dress to the State Banquet did not impress South Africans either.

While the Queen Consort and Princess of Wales wore elegant ball gowns, Naledi Pandor was picked apart for wearing what some called her ‘gran’s curtains’ on the night.

The unflattering peach satin and lace dress was not even accessorised with jewellery and yes, Pandor rocked her flat pumps to dinner too.

Dr Naledi Pandor is a well-respected politician in South Africa and has held cabinet positions since the Thabo Mbeki era in the late 1990s.

Controversially, in 2019 Dr Pandor was criticised for saying failed African states were to blame for xenophobia in South Africa.
