It's alarming how so many people prefer to defend their ignorance instead by opening their minds to new information .... don't have to open mouth and swallow ... but at least chew on it ... before deciding if to swallow or accept it.
Foods that most people in the US eat are GMO .... and unhealthy.... leading to obesity and long term diseases. These foods are cheaper ... wayyy cheaper than organic/natural foods ... the reverse in Nigeria. Cereals .... corn flakes or whatever that we feed our kids and believe we are feeding them well .... unhealthy. Almost anything that has a sweetener ... including cereals .... sodas ... you name it .... check on ingredients on almost every product from the US.... there is a common ingredient .... high fructose corn syrup... a sweetener... banned in Canada ... banned in the whole of Europe including the UK... you will not see it in their products... but allowed and used widespread in the US.... banned because it causes a whole lot of serious health problems including diabetes.
Anyone who think otherwise ... find out for yourself. Leave corn flakes ... oreo cookies .... Chocolate ..... any meat product or fruit import from like Shop Rite.... leave any of these outside in the open ... you will not see an ant ... or a fly or any insect approach them .... neither will a hawk swoop down to grab the meat.... whatever the fruit .... pineapple..... lime .... tomato..... or vegetable ... it will not wither lr get dry but break down into a pool of water that insects will stay clear of. Do same with local products ... you will see the difference... then ask yourself why.

Well I was a Software Engineer up until about 2 months ago, now I’m like a Software Tech Lead I guess since I have more managerial responsibilities now vs being an individual contributor. Why?

After reading your responses on this thread, I started thinking about the possibility of starting a campaign on how best to combine our cuisine for a healthy meal.

The idea will be to form a working group consisting of lover of foods, people with nutrition and medical experience and people with good experience of the wide ranges of available food in Nigeria etc.

This group will come up with different food combinations (very cheap) and these information will be shared across the country using different platforms like online and religious centres.

This is just me thinking out loud, I am aware that it needs a lot of work and fine tuning and require people with varying experiences more than the aforementioned, but the above is just the core of what needs to be achieved.

I don't know anything about agronomy....So I dont know if merely 'washing it off ' is enough to eliminate such poisons....about GMOs and ehavy preservatives.. one can only hope that real experts will be allowed to investigate this and give unbiased judgements about the safety and long term effects on health
