Thank you.
I was going to say the same thing. The OP sounds like a lazy person.
Nigeria is obviously a place where hard work and perseverance hardly pays off, but privileges are given rather than earned.
The OP is now in place where hard work and perseverance have a direct relationship with comfort and privilege, and he finds himself unable to cope.
What the op is whining about are the dues that every immigrant pays before they arrange themselves over time to a better life in North America or Europe.
omo i tire for The guy..to me stress is nothing if I getting enough returns.. he's a very lazy person

Hello, guys
I don't want to bore you guys with long epistle. Yes, as the title suggests.

I travelled to Canada through the study route this January but I can tell you for a fact that I'm already bored with this place.

I'm redoing a 2 year program that I have already concluded in Naija but just because I want japa, I redid it. But that's not the issue.

The issue is that I'm working in a company but the department I was posted to was a physical demanding one..

To the extent that if I work for a day, I feel pain all over my body for a week. And this is seriously affecting my education because anytime i go to work, i wouldn't have the energy to do anything again as i would be so weak. but i have to work because i have bills to pay.

Nobody send you for here except you want sleep for cold outside.

Even half of my salary goes in the form of settling bills.

The work makes me depressed. This is not what I bargained for. .

For me to raise money for my tuition fees and travel expenses, at least I wasn't doing bad in Nigeria before i left. In addition, I hardly have time for myself.

My situation is even better, most of people who we came same time haven't found jobs yet.

My thinking is if I should ask for refund of my remaining tuition fee and relocate back Naija, or go back Naija and take some courses online, as there seems to be an option for that.

Don't come ooo.

Wait and see if the mandate can be retrieved first. The other one with the ticket now, we don't trust his way......

It is obvious na, an average aje kpako won't say what the OP said.

Do you know how many people do bricklaying, server's job and others strenuous jobs in Nigeria to see themselves through their education?

Such person won't say what the OP said, had it been OP is from a poor or struggling home, he won't say this.

If he is from a rich family he will not be struggling in Canada, he wouldn't need to do backbreaking job and study at the same time.

Watch them storming this place trying to discredit this guy's frustration as "stop discouraging people from going abroad". People don't discuss what they're going through in abroad because they're scared of being judged. Nigerians will tell such person that he's where they're slaving hard to come and he dare complain

Exactly.
Not everyone of these guys have good stories to tell. They are going through a lot I can tell you.
I have a friend who travelled to one of these Scandinavian countries, though at first he was doing well but because of a wrong move which has to do with driver's license, he got limited to certain jobs. He preferred driving/delivery jobs, he makes over 1m monthly with delivery job but when he lost it,
at a time, he got a job in a construction company. Ómó, this guy wan die. His complaint was similar to this. But the difference here is, he has options of jobs. He keeps changing jobs but guy man is yet to balance.

Anyways from what I have gathered, please make sure you have good documents so u can work.

For instance this my friend.
If he had continued working with his food delivery work, ensure he got the right drivers license at the expiry of the Nigerian license he started working with, his story would have been different.

His problem:
He met guymen in the land, guys that thought they could beat the system, they told him even if he tries sitting for drivers license exams, he would keep failing and keep wasting money.
They proposed he goes to another Scandinavian country, get his license there because it is acceptable in their host Country.
He fell for it, alas it was a scam/fake license.
He was caught, finned and banned from driving till he passes his exam.

There is no shortcut to success.
Just do it right.
Get the right papers.
Do the right things.

Maybe, just maybe things will be better.
Not all cases are the same but at least try your best to do things right wherever you find yourself.

Peace.

See, most of these guys are quiet comfortable in Nigeria that they have never had to do any odd job before. Them be ajebo. They only started doing it abroad.

Why do you people have the belief that everyone who comes from a poor or modest background is a specialist at physical labor?

Some people don't have the physical stature for physical work. Especially when they've had to deal with poor nutrition.

a guy i met recently is 22, comes from a poor background in Delta State and weighs more than 15kg less than i did at his age. And at his age i was skinny.

You can ask for refund of your remaining tuition fee but try and continue with your job for now and look up for other job opportunities which comes with less stress. You might find the job being stressed just because you are new to that. Try to eat, bath and sleep after the daily job and avoid doing any unnecessary tasks. Keep your head up. At first, it's sometimes like that but at the end, you'll be good. Don't make the mistake of rushing down to Naija o.

Probably europe is similar to canada.
You can work as waiter, you dont need any training. Easy work. You can make lot of money.
You can work in the restaurant as kitchen assistant, you dont need any training. Maybe you just need hygienic certificate, that is easy to get. Also easy job.

Ask from people around the job you can do. Learn from them.

No, it’s too early to make that decision. All you need is a total mindset shift. You sound like you are yet to make the transition in your heart of hearts and using naija as a back up. That sentiment would not get you very far in Canada. I don’t mean to throw jabs at you, but I do know students who earn up to 100k per year in a less physically stressful working environment.

As a new immigrant , it’s challenging . It doesn’t matter if it’s PR or Work permit or student, the challenges of a new country will always be something to consider when travelling abroad.

My advise:
1. Check your circle of friends- you need a solid community to thrive not just survive.

2. There are remote CS jobs you can take on. Work remotely until your studies are completed.

3. Know that you will always have bills to pay and you will always get value unlike naija that you pay and still struggle to get value for your money.

4. If you are the outgoing type: know that the party you create is the party you get to attend. No “mogbo moya”.

5. Take your vitamin D drops daily to avoid depression. As Africans, the sun here isn’t enough for us.

6. Leave Naija behind in your considerations. It is not a back up.

As a Canadian, the day you travel to other countries of the world is when you know the true value of your passport. It’s a breeze to go through airport checks.

Bro/sis, if you need a hand. Reach out.

You mean you guys actually take tablets just to get vitamin D over there? shocked

Vitamin D wey full Nigerian sunshine?

What you're going through is normal for every naija person that recently relocates abroad. If you give up now you may regret it later. Continue at least until you finish your degree first then make a decision then.

Stories like this is far too common now, people leaving Nigeria with little or no money to survive abroad, then we have threads like this people complaining that abroad is hard and Nigeria is better but they will never book the next available flight back to Nigeria and allow us to hear word
The problem with Nigerians is that most of them think abroad is where you will make it in jiffy! To even adapt is not easy, it could take years but eventually the person will be fine. But the false belief about abroad is too much!

Nobody will give you any kind of refund. Not in this life.

If you want to come back, I strongly suggest you get your residence or citizenship and then come back.

The point of the study route is to have the money already available for your studies. Or last last, make up money for living expenses during summer or part time.
