On the issue of being stingy . . . i think i am actually not but life is full of lessons, experiences and exposure. I have had a fair share of mine and i believe it is best to spend your money wisely, for the right reasons and motives.

I believe you do also and certainly that should be a standard for every adult irrespective of their gender, culture or location.

Always looking for the negatives & not the positive side. Obviously money is to be spent wisely but I believe in romantic spending like dinner, roses and the whole works so other spendings is to others pocket. Nothing wrong with some TLC that needs funds to facilitate even a picnic or horse riding. You need to take it easy & let go .

Anyway on to your reply, been and out of that thing so i believe but probably we have a different definition or interpretation. I am not against those type of spending you just listed because it is definitely what i can do but it is two way street and a mutual action on both partners to me. Not exactly an eye for an eye, a 50-50 thing but the guy takes a significant percentage depending on the culture in place.

Now my gross is this whole issue of it is her birthright, my duty as the guy, not an option to make a choice else this whole thing is not going to work. I have been in an environment where a lady wants to make her hair, do her shopping, load some credit on her phone, she walks unto a counter and do it herself with her money. Now take one of my experience in which someone told me that those things are my duties and to the extent of saying you should be paying at least 10k into her account every month for her care?

That is what i am against, i know my duties and obligations to my family, wife and kids but a gf is definitely a different issue. Paying for movies, romantic dinner or showing some TLC is never out of place but someone should not take it as a duty from me and they should also do unto others what they want others to do for them. It is becoming a one way street in the Nigerian context, always want to receive without contributing or giving back to the relationship all because i am the . . . . . . . girl friend.

See I was right, doctor cuddles. You must have gone through a lot. Just do whatever makes you comfortable & happy but please don't rule out the romantic side even if it would require u spending. A little igniting of the passion rekindles the senses & makes you smile. How is expensive is the romantics anyways? Its the cheapest spending ever .
