Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has tendered an apology for the assault on the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, in Imo State last week.

DAILY POST recalls that suspected political thugs had brutally attacked the NLC president last Wednesday when workers were protesting unpaid salaries.

The NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) had declared a strike in Imo State, resulting in the suspension of all flights to the state as preparations for the gubernatorial election coming up on Saturday were underway.

Speaking on the matter when he bappeared on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Uzodimma, who had initially criticized the NLC president for entering the state, expressed regret and apologised for the maltreatment.

“I was unaware of the presence of the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in my state. My initial response was to condemn the action. I have never been at odds with the labor union.

Mr Supreme court governor or cant remember what most Nigerians do call you grin grin grin, your citizens are protesting simply because they are requesting for what lawfully belongs to them, this event happened last week but you waited a day to your rerun election to apologize. This act shows lack of commitment to your office as the 1st citizen of imo state.

Let the imo state citizens decide if they still want you or not.

If you can show lack of commitment by governing imo state from Abuja according to some online report during his 1st tenure, what will happen if he will be reelected?

Pre-election Politics!
You may not agree with everything NLC does but a physical assault on an NLC president is a slap on the faces of all Nigerian workers and a dangerous precedent.

A verbal apology won't cut it. The people involved need to be held responsible and brought to book.

He ordered the attack.The police lied that they rescued the NLC president from a mob attack.
Meanwhile,the police were the ones who assaulted him.
The police should know that they will also protest one day because the NLC is fighting for all workers including them.
