Southwest chairman of Consolidated APC grassroots movement (CaGram), Comrade Okedara Kolawole, has described the death of Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), as painful.

Akeredolu died at the age of 67 after a protracted illness.

According to a statement issued by the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mrs Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, the governor died in Germany on Wednesday after battling prostate cancer.

In a statement he personally signed, Kolawole condoled the family the deceased left behind, the acting Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the people of Ondo state.

He said Akeredolu was a visionary leader with an unwavering dedication to his people and social justice.

“Akeredolu made an unprecedented legacy on Nigerian politics From his tenure as the chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association to his role as the chairman of the South West Governors Forum, he continuously fight the cause of justice and the upliftment of his people.

“Known for his tireless efforts to improve the lives of Ondo citizens, Akeredolu spearheaded major initiatives that brought about positive change. Under his leadership, the state witnessed significant advancements in healthcare, infrastructure, and education. His commitment to sustainable development earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and citizens alike.

“As Nigerians mourns the loss of a unprecedented leader, Rotimi Akeredolu’s memory will continue to serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for generations to come. His legacy of compassion, justice, and progress will endure, forever reminding Nigerians of the transformative power of dedicated leadership.

“In this period of grief, we urge the people of Ondo State to unite, learn from the cherished memories of their late governor and endeavour to honour his legacy by solidy upon the foundations he laid, let’s ensure that his vision for a better and brighter future for Ondo State lives on,” the statement reads.
