Don’t Sabotage Tinubu’s Efforts In Fixing Economy - Oyintiloye Tells Governors by Fareke: 5:28pm On Mar 03

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye has urged state governors and senior civil servants to give President Bola Tinubu maximum support as he tries to fix Nigeria’s economy.

Oyintiloye said that it is not possible for the president alone to achieve his Renewed Hope Agenda for the people without the support of the governors and top civil servants, who were the engine room of the government.

He said this while speaking with newsmen on Sunday in Osogbo.

Oyintiloye said that the governors needed to support the various initiatives of the president in fixing the economy by utilising their monthly allocation for poverty alleviation in their various states.

The APC Chieftain said that the various efforts of the president in fixing the economy may not be immediately visible to many Nigerians, if the state governors refused to utilise their monthly allocation for the benefit of the masses in their states.

He said: “This is the time for state governors, irrespective of political affiliations to join the president in fixing the economy by attending to the welfare of the people.

"What the president is doing at the centre to fix the economy will only be meaningful to the people, if the state governors can lend a helping hands.

“What the governors are currently collecting as monthly allocation is more than in enough to lift the people out of poverty in relation to what the president is doing.

"While the masses are shouting the name of the president at every slight discomfort, they should also hold their governors accountable, asking them what they are doing with the improved monthly allocation.

To set the record straight, the governors have to come out and tell people of their states the amount they have collected since June last year and how they have administered the funds.

“In the reckoning of most Nigerians now, the governors are seen as part of those sabotaging efforts of the president to lessen effects of the removal of fuel subsidy on the people.

"We are in a very critical situation in which unnecessary bureaucracy which can hinder the efforts of the president be suspended.

“Any act of sabotage in whatever form in the civil service should be rooted out for the sake of the benefit of the masses.”

Oyintiloye, however, urged Nigerians to be patient with the president, adding that with all the various interventions the president is putting in place, the country will soon attain the height of desired greatness.

Either PBAT or anyone at the Federal level can't make things work without functioning governors, truth be told 98% of the governors in Nigeria are lazy and clueless.
E.g. a state like Oyo state shouldn't have experience food crisis with its aerable land mass but Seyi Makinde is clueless all he does are substandard road construction and selling off government lands for real estate investors instead of farming angry

gone are those days that Oyo state used to take the lead in food production.
It's high time that Nigeria is restructured and FAAC is stoped let every state develop itself and manage its resources so that everyone can hold their governors responsible.
State Governors have been collecting almost 3x their FAAC but nothing to show for it undecided

. Local government that should mane the farming sector has been render useless under the clueless and selfish Governors. It's high time Nigerians started calling out and shaming their Governors and not just the FG angry

I do think all indigene of each state should hold their state governors accountable for funds given to them by the president.
There is a lot of funds disbursed to state governors monthly now as a result of the subsidy removal fund windfall.

You can't give what you don't have！You can't keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result....cut cost,be prudent,arrest corruption,grow above nepotism and tribalism,enshrine meritocracy,be nationalistic,restructure,give others sense of belonging,stop going on state visits with 100s of party men, families and friends,by so doing he squanders the much needed fund through reckless estacodes,invest more in production and then small by small we shall get there.

Apart from Lagos and Abia, what are these governors doing with Billions of Naira doled out to them every month?!!

Honestly, it's time to beam the spotlight and scrutiny at these governors, especially those governing those states with these looting incidents.

If a governor can't do something as simple as coordinating welfare to the poorest amongst his state residents, then he really has no business being in that seat.

Some of these governors are a serious problem to this leadership... They are nothing but liabilities.

Why should Tinubu be sharing money for governors from the so called subsidy removal fund windfall?

What is that supposed to do for anyone?

If fuel subsidy was too expensive to sustain, what is the economic sense in removing the subsidy which kept prices down and then share the "windfall" for governors?

How will that improve livelihoods?
