No one can deny the zeal of the transformation agenda by Mr. President. Although, the sincerity of this transformation still remains illusive. Let us say or perhaps understand that the FRSC has decided to enter into this transformation train and with nothing but direct hardship on the Nigeria people.

The pronouncement that the commission will renew the entire number plate system of the country is a step in the right direction, but the motives behind this system is completely irrational, especially in a country where every attempt of the government to have a genuine database of its citizens have failed woefully.

The commission cites car monitoring via satellite as one of the core benefits of this plan. While the process might seem easy on the white paper and appealing to the ear, we must not forget too soon how many of such brilliant idea have been disastrous and incapable of making true statistical analysis. Take for example, the mandatory registration of SIM by NCC; it was indeed the perfect plan but the execution was a complete fiasco and the results are of course falsified statistical data. Reports of multiple registration proves the point beyond any reasonable doubt. How about the national Identity card project that was marginally simulated reason being the massive and reoccurring incorrect personal data of card holders?

Yes, perhaps things have changed like the typical Nigeria government would like to assure and reaffirm, but the fact remain, we can spend billions on the this project and the outcome would be nothing more than a charade, an avenue of computerized looting and exploitation of good hardworking Nigerians.

FRSC To Exploit NigeriansLet no one deceive or be deceived neither should we let illogical talks becloud our of sense of judgment. If we ever dream of achieving the feat as detailed by the commission, we must have a true, complete, independent and working database system for Nigerians. Room wasn’t built in a day, so also the commission cannot think it can wake one morning and propose a chicken plan that will ultimately checkmate nothing. A lot of things need to be fixed before coming up with such bogus plans. The commission needs to do more on education of road users about high way signs, organize beneficial lectures and symposium, enforce true traffic control and overall, promote decongestion of roads by providing traffic lights on major junctions. A commission that cannot manage how driving license are issued is not fit to manage an even advanced process where technicality and truth is of topmost priority.

How would an ordinary taxi driver react, someone who managed to acquire a “dead” car in order to avoid vices and take care of himself and his family? Someone, for who survival and existence is rather a curse than a blessing. The thought that he would pay an equivalent amount or even more than his dated vehicle for the acquisition of a new number plate is absurd.

The governments think that the revolutionaries are dead and their followers have had their soul bought with looted national treasury. Otherwise, they’d pronounce policies when the effect on the grassroots has been thoroughly considered.
