ritchboy: Y'all are being highly unfair to the gaffer - the truth is that Santos could've picked up that injury at any time - it's foolish to think that he ONLY picked it up because he played at Olympiakos. It's not as if the Greeks played like the orangutans of Stoke or anything of the sort. Vidic also banjaxed his ligaments in a similar way so it's an unfortunate part of being a footballer that you can pick up these niggles. |

Wenger played a UCL veteran like Santos in a worthless game when Miquel who could actually use the experience was on the bench. Santos was still building up fitness and needed to get some weight off his pudgy frame by playing games - that's why Wenger played him. You might have also said Vermaelen shouldn't have played since Squillaci needed games no? How many games has Santos played sef? 13 games since September? That's barely a game a week and that isn't anything extraordinary. I'm sure Wenger can bring out his prozone stats that told him Santos was still in the phat zone (unlike RVP in the red zone) meaning he still needed games.Wenger went for a mix and match and it backfired in one position. Y'all are talking as if that was the only game Santos could get injured in - Andre could've been crocked at any time. In other news, Gibbs should be back for the Wolves game. |
