So sad that we keep having this continuous killings and nothing is being done. Very very sad because this shows we do not value the lives of our fellow citizens. I cry for our beloved nation.

Yes because they are not bothered about security. Have you ever heard them discuss/pass bills on things that bothers the nation in the real sense of it They look for trivial issues and make so much noise over them. They are mare empty barrels.

Any community in the North that doesn't make provisions for security needs to be wiped out. Those living in the North shouldn't need brain surgeon to tell them they are in a war zone. All Tiv men just carry hoe and cutlass go farm like mumu, leaving the women and children at home for invaders to butcher.

The last time I checked, we still operate federalism and as a nation, it is the FGN's duty to provide security for the citizenry. If those in government only knew what true governance is, they would have been able to assure at all times that each member of the citizen is secured.

Stories like this makes one begin to wonder what actually makes us "ONE NIGERIA". And the way government neglects all these killings is the reason its still happening

This tells that in our case, democracy is not the government of the people. They have shifted from Jos and now they are moving to Benue yet, theu culprits have not been caught thus far.

All these killings in the north is making mockery of the Nigeria waging against the Biafra. The aim of fighting biafra has been defeated since one Nigeria is not in the offing instead Nigeria is heading for disintegration which would have happened 41 years ago. People let us tell ourselves the truth . Nigeria is not one and can never be one as long as we stay together with the Muslem North that sees a non moslem as non human .

It was the responsibility of the "Fedral Government Of Nigeria" in 1966 to provide security for the "citizinry" regardles whatever part of the "Federation " their ancestry was from and regardless where they were located at the time. You need me to remind you how well that responsibity was discharged ?
In case you dont know the "FGN" failed epically (if i can use that word) and when the victims of that epic failure decided to take their destinies in their hands, the same "FGN" waged war on them ohh by the way who contributed the most to the FGN war effort? The same plateau ,southern kaduna ,benue and taraba folks who are being decimated ON THEIR HOME SOIL.
And people say there is no GOD.

Shame to Obasanjo, babangida, Gowon  etc who ruled Nigeria as a result of their contribution in Civil war to keep Nigeria one . They are still living to witnes the unfolding scenarios in Nigeria. They should go and bury their faces in the sand because they fought a fruitless war that consumed so many lives without good dividend instead they we got a country that has  got every thing bad going in her way.  The present govt knows what to do stop the killings in the North but is incapacitated because of the fear of the North which has held this country in hostage for too long.  Time has  come for other nationlities in the pseudo country called Nigeria to stand up and fight . Fight against far North Jihad . Where is Gowon? He has got the real fight now.  The Igbos should continue with their business where ever they are peaceful and remain vigilant . Igbos have done their own . Ojukwu is the greatest .Adieu the the great one Adieu the the wisest ; your efforts will evetually  materialise. You have been vindicated.

Could this be a sign of another civil war in Nigeria?

LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) — The armed militia marched unstopped through Nigeria's largest city, firing shotguns and rifles in the air in what they called a protest against a radical Muslim sect responsible for killings across the oil-rich country.

The demonstration Thursday by members of the Oodua People's Congress highlighted the growing sense of insecurity and widening distrust among Nigeria's more than 160 million people and its major ethnic groups. Men armed with shotguns, rifles and machetes freely roamed the streets of Lagos without a sign of police, while passers-by shouted that their region of Nigeria should be protected — rather than the country as a whole.

We are likely heading towards secession in Nigeria. The center as it is seems too weak to hold this. When our beloved government felt security is immaterial, they have finally got what they need. A revolution may help the nation a little more.

Fulani herdsmen do not believe in or have loyalty for any entity called Nigeria, neither do they respect any borders within it. As far as a Fulani herdsman is concerned, any land grazed by his cattle belongs to him and he will kill to protect his father's land. So, take note. Similar incidents have happened in other parts of Nigeria be it South West or South East, South South, or even the North.

So, it did not start today and will not end anytime soon until the government comes up with a solution. For crying out loud, why should we still be relying on illiterate herdsmen for our beaf consumption in 2011 (almost 2012 and 8 years to the almighty 2020 when everything will happen)? When will we start to cultivate the ranch culture and mass production of beaf, so that a kg of beaf will be N100, rather than really on inefficient herdsmen?

We need to domesticate the Fulani herdsmen. It is wrong to leave a segment of society to waste just moving from North to South then North again ignorant of the world around them. If they refuse domestication, government should create special routes for them and make their routes as far as possible to the rest of us, as wild and domestic animals do not belong together.

Nigeria should also use tracking systems to track the different clusters of Fulani herdsmen. They should combine this with data from the multi-billion Naira satellite they launched some months ago, or/and GPS to monitor when they are deviating from their allocated routes towards settlements of domesticated people, so as to mobilise adequate security.

Back to the issue of ranch and mass beaf production, every state in Nigeria, especially those in the south should work towards encouraging and mobilising young people to go into cattle rearing in ranches. Once they are self sufficient in beaf production, the state should ban the herdsmen in their state. They can make laws making it compulsory that only beaf reared in ranches will be sold in the state, blocking the herdsmen from accessing their market.

Once they are blocked from the market, the herdsmen will have know option than to change their routes.
