Its not about the age but about the peak So what tells you Torres is not past his peak |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by coogar: 11:41pm On Feb 22, 2012 |
dayokanu: because a season in chelsea where everyone's general performance has dwindled wouldn't be a true test of his ability. i wanna see another season or torres in another team to know if he's truly peaked. torres hasn't peaked - he just plays in a shitty team. i wish fergie or redknapp makes a cheeky bid for him this coming summer |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by dayokanu(m): 11:43pm On Feb 22, 2012 |
coogar: Yet he said sometime later that it isnt about age. What a confused soul |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by dayokanu(m): 11:44pm On Feb 22, 2012 |
coogar: We have seen Torres play under Del bosque he was horrible, We have seen him under Ancelotti, He was atrocious, We have seen him under AVB he is a disaster So we need to see him play under Onigbinde or Tunde Disu to know if he is past it? |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by coogar: 11:46pm On Feb 22, 2012 |
dayokanu: you are a typical billy goat! all the players i have mentioned have had their better days behind them. only a complete goat like yourself would compare lampard of 2005 when he was the 2nd best player in the world to the one of 2011/12. |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by dayokanu(m): 11:55pm On Feb 22, 2012 |
coogar: Your post has been corrected |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by coogar: 11:56pm On Feb 22, 2012 |
dayokanu: torres was the best striker in england in 2008? are you a troglodyte? was he not outscored by cristiano ronaldo? |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by dayokanu(m): 11:59pm On Feb 22, 2012 |
Is Ronaldo a striker in the mould of Torres? |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by coogar: 12:00am On Feb 23, 2012 |
dayokanu: in a 4-3-3 with ronaldo being one of the components of the holy trinity? of course he was a striker. he scored 42 goals that season. is like asking if messi is a striker in the mould of mario gomez? mbaaa. . .messi is a defender! |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by dayokanu(m): 12:02am On Feb 23, 2012 |
If you say Messi is a defender then he might be cos nothing we havent heard from you in the last few days Do you now know the transfer fee for Antonio Reyes? |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by coogar: 12:04am On Feb 23, 2012 |
dayokanu: i do and i am sure it was more than arshavin(your record transfer @ arsenal). |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by dayokanu(m): 12:07am On Feb 23, 2012 |
coogar: So whats your revised transfer fee for Reyes, Not only Dayokanu says Arshavin was the record transfer, Guardian also agree Arsenal have finally concluded the most tortuous transfer of the mid-winter window by announcing the signing of the Russia international Andrei Arshavin from Zenit St Petersburg for a club record £15m almost 24 hours after the closure of the window, though it seems doubtful that the playmaker's first taste of Premier League football will come amid the explosive atmosphere of the north London derby at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by coogar: 12:09am On Feb 23, 2012 |
dayokanu: except that the same guardian reported nasri's transfer fee was £15.8m. that is £0.8m more than your record transfer fee for arsenal. at this juncture, i am sure you have lost your ability to count. |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by dayokanu(m): 12:11am On Feb 23, 2012 |
coogar: Then you should ask yourself whats wrong with your bible the Guardian who called Arshavin the club record transfer |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by coogar: 12:19am On Feb 23, 2012 |
dayokanu: i told you they just sensitized the headline. £15m was the highest initial fee arsenal have ever taken from a transfer. . . .which was arshavin's deal! zenit did not allow wenger to pay in parts. nasri's transfer was £15.8m but arsenal were allowed to pay that in parts and the initial fee arsenal paid was not up to £15m. eventually, arsenal still paid £15.8m which was £0.8m more than arshavin's deal that is your transfer record. according to mirko barisic(dinamo zagreb's president), eduardo's transfer was £16m so how can arshavin be the record transfer fee @ arsenal? |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by dayokanu(m): 12:30am On Feb 23, 2012 |
Well ask Guardian why Arshavin became their own Arsenal record transfer Now what is your revised Transfer for reyes after giving us 2 diff figures |

Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by dayokanu(m): 12:45am On Feb 23, 2012 |
^^ Which of your links should we believe now? You gave us a link for 13m, This one for 17.5, and earlier you stated that he was signed for 20m |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by coogar: 12:48am On Feb 23, 2012 |
dayokanu: as reyes did not fulfil his contract at arsenal, anything could have happened to the final fee wenger paid. remember reyes was used as a part-exchange for baptista later and contracts were torn and remade so the actual amount is debatable but the original deal was worth between £17m - £20 depending on who you want to believe. the true details of any transfer deal is hazy but it gives you an idea. but even at £17m, his deal was still more than arshavin's(your transfer record at the emirates). |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by debosky(m): 10:49am On Feb 23, 2012 |
Dude we are not talking finance here. We are talking about total transfer against result achieved. I am criticising (not nailing ) AVB because he spent that money WITHOUT losing the best quality players in his squad. Even if we accept the smaller figure of £40m, what calibre of players did AVB lose from his side compared to Wenger? It is pointless to compare based on transfer fees alone without looking at the underlying squad. The best way to judge a squad is its performance - Chelski’s squad came 2nd, lost no major players and ADDED £40m of talent, yet they are struggling. Arsenal’s squad came 4th, lost three major players (not counting those injured, and 4 if you include Sol’s performance last season) and didn’t/couldn’t replace them adequately. Bottomline, AVB has a better squad with EPL title winning experience and yet cannot get the best out of them. This is despite his avowed ‘knowledge of how Fergie and Wenger play and their strengths and weaknesses’ - which incidentally has not gotten him one victory thus far over them. |

Are we really going after Benitez? There's a reason why he's still jobless when Ancelotti and Hiddink have picked up managerial positions with top clubs : he doesn't have the edge. |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by diggz: 4:28pm On Feb 23, 2012 |
I beg wats wit cfc not losing major playas. So debo according to U,anelka and alex are minor players? Anytin to support d gayners wenger and d Useless club. |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by coogar: 4:40pm On Feb 23, 2012 |
debosky: he's better off losing that quality completely rather than having to do with players who have lost all interest and hunger in winning titles. what quality would vieira, pires, wiltord and lauren bring to the current arsenal side if they were still there? villas-boas didn't lose the best quality players but those quality players have all gone past their expiry date. it's the same ish. the drop in quality is obvious because they have all seen better days. |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by debosky(m): 5:16pm On Feb 23, 2012 |
coogar: Are you insane? Did Wiltord, Vieira and Pires leave last season? Who says these players have lost hunger? How many midfielders in the league have outscored Lampard? How come DD's hunger to win is still shining through?
This argument does not wash - the so called drop in quality is only as a result of a manger trying to fit square pegs into round holes. Trying to play a high line with Terry that has never been the fastest of defenders is ludicrous. |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by medjai(m): 5:46pm On Feb 23, 2012 |
Don't know if this is any true Reports suggest Barcelona have completed the signing of two Chelsea youngsters Sam Monjack and Charlie Colkett. The two were given a tour of La Masia a few weeks back and were said to be extremely impressed with the new building and facilities. As both players are under contract at Chelsea, Barca had to pay around £300,00 for each player. They will both join up with squad at the end of the season and will start in the Cadet A, then move on from there. Chelsea aren't said to be very happy. |
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Pride Of London by coogar: 5:51pm On Feb 23, 2012 |
debosky: they didn't leave last season because wenger knew exactly when to let those ones go. at chelsea, they are still hugging past glory and still attached to their past. see as many of them still sing jose's song like tools. united have giggs n scholes in their squad but fergie often play without them in big games and united still win convincingly. chelsea cannot do that without their old fowls.
have they not? when was the last time you saw chelsea in the 5th position. have arsenal, tottenham and city ever finished above chelsea since the roman era? that lampard is chelsea's top scorer says a lot about drogba and co. no midfielder has outscored lampard cos other teams often task their strikers with the role of putting penalty in the box. arsenal(van persie), united(rooney), city(balotelli), tottenham(adebayor), chelsea(lampard). who is the odd one out, dork debo?
so trying to play a high line is the reason didier drogba and nando torres have a total goals of 5 league goals between them in 2000+ mins league footie? the highline is also the reason sturridge and malouda have a total of 4 league assists between them in 2100 league minutes? debosky, if idiocy was an academic degree, you would be a professor. |

diggz: you are a troglodyte. . . . how many high profile games has scholes played this season. even giggs get played conservatively. chelsea play lampard, terry, drogba and cole every blessed game unless they are injured or suspended. fergie running after lampard in january? of course, fergie was also running after jonathan goodluck. what a tyke! |
