Comercial bus operators are being shortchanged by the drivers, none remitance of money to the owners, the buses are mismanaged, over used, and yet the owners hardly get the money invested, most owners are looking for someone who can manage the buses for them and remit to them in the shortest possible time return on investment, so most have resolved to give out the buses,on lease purchase, even at that the buses given out dont bring the money.
After taking the bus on lease purchase the driver will remit for some few weeks and then story upon stories by then the drivers would have raked in some few thousand and would have overused the vehicle and dump it, to go look for the next victim.
Our company have experience in the management of commercial bus, we have qualified proffesionals who have driven commercial buses around the Lagos metropolis with vast knowledge of this lucrative business, honesty and integrity is our watchword.
When you come to us our team of specialist would advise you on the kind of bus to buy, before buying, we have on ground with you our technicians who will check the bus properly and make sure it is in ship shape, the bus would be serviced and all faulty parts would be replaced.
Our modus operandi is to get your account details and remit the agreed amount to your account every Friday, this is the same amount that is paid by normal drivers, but where we differ from them is the company takes responsibility for minor repairs which would take nothing from your normal weekly delivery.
The bus would start work by 5:30 am and close by 5:30 pm,unlike your regular danfo driver that work the bus from dawn to dusk, our drivers pass through rigorous screening process before they are employed and knowing the mentality of the normal danfo drivers we are able to curb any of their excesses.
Save yourself the agony of danfo drivers who care little or nothing, nor have your interest at heart contact us today and you would be glad you did.

Let me give you a little Income and Expenditure analysis on haulage services that show the interesting and the width of the market; hence demand for the services is always consistent.

As many companies, individuals, agencies, amongst others as possible are the list users of haulage business. Even in the manufacturing countries, haulage business cannot be overlook not to talk of a consuming country like Nigeria, where the importance of haulage business cannot be over-emphasised.

As a business opportunity, anyone that is willing can invest with ease.

N.B: However, haulage service is a good enterprise. Good management is necessary to ensure its survival and profitability

THE INCOME
The rate of return on your investment and also based on the turn-around time of the truck. Because of the constraints such as traffic congestion on the road, mechanical faults, etc, one could experience a little hiccup. But with proper management, the haulage service is a high yielding investment enterprise.

For a trip to Abuja as example,

Payment = N250,000.
The running of the trip has a cost of fuel (750 x N160) = N120,000.
Driver/conductor Allowance = N20,000
Unforeseen contingency Allowance = N5,000
Therefore the projected profit per trip is N105,000.

Mathematically,
N105,000 per trip (At least three(3) trips per 2 weeks)
N105,000 x 3 x 2 = N630,000
Less: Driver Salary = N30,000
Conductor Salary = N10,000
Servicing =N30,000 (Depending on the vehicle)

Expected monthly income =N560,000

How to distribute the expected income
If you are an investor and manager at the same time, keep three hundred thousand naira(N300,000) for your investment, One hundred thousand naira (N100,000) for your self, One Hundred thousand Naira (N100,000) for the jobless period and Sixty Thousand Naira (N60,000) for the truck in case of any unforeseen problem.

But if you are just a manager, do not enter an agreement beyond Three hundred thousand Naira (if possible lower) no matter the pressure on you; do not bargain for what you can not meet.  Then follow this way of income distribution as above.

hi,

For your interest, I hereby attached Excepted Income and Expenditure Analysis and Distribution, which shows you how viable and profitable haulage business is in Nigeria.

ANALYSIS AND DISTRIBUTION INCOME AND EXPENDITURE (INTER STATE)
Let me give you a little Income and Expenditure Analysis and distribution on haulage services that show the interesting and the width of the market; hence demand for the services is always consistent.
As many companies, individuals, agencies, amongst others as possible are the list users of haulage business. Even in the manufacturing countries, haulage business cannot be overlook not to talk of a consuming country like Nigeria, the importance of haulage business cannot be over emphasis.

For a trip to Abuja as example,
The trucker is paid *                                             N250,000.00
EXPENDITURE: Less
The running of the trip has a cost of fuel (750 x N160) ** = N120,000.00
Driver/conductor Allowance *** =                 N20,000.00
Unforeseen contingency Allowance**** =         N5,000.00                     N145,000.00
Therefore the projected profit per trip is                             N105,000.00

Mathematically,
N105,000 per trip (At least three(3) trips per 2 weeks)
N105,000 x 3 x 2 =                                      N630,000.00

                Conductor Salary =         N10,000.00
******Servicing (Depending on the vehicle) = N30,000 .00       N70,000.00
Expected monthly income =                               N560,000.00

How to distribute the expected income
If you are an investor and manager at the same time, keep three hundred thousand naira (N300,000.00) for your investment, One hundred thousand naira(N100,000.00)  for your self, One Hundred thousand Naira(N100,000.00)  for the jobless period and Sixty Thousand Naira(N50,000.00)  for the truck in case of any unforeseen problem
Investor                 N300,000.00
Manager                 N100,000.00
Jobless period         N100,000.00
Unforeseen Problem N 50,000.00 N550,000.00

But if you are just a manager, do not enter an agreement beyond Three hundred thousand Naira (if possible lower) no matter the pressure on you; do not bargain for what you can not meet.  Then follow this way of income distribution as above.

NB:
(*) --- This does not mean cost payment for Abuja trip, it depends on your negotiating power. You can bargain for more especially at the peak period, but it can be lower at the rainy season or when the season is off peak.
(**) --- The cost of diesel varies and the litre consume depend on the type of truck and its level especially the state of the injector.
(***) --- The allowance is given to them in order to encourage them go as many trips as possible, because profit depends on the number of turn out. Another method you can use is to place them on 10% of the trip charges and you only give them any amount as salary at the end of the month.
(****) --- This allowance too is given to the driver so that he would not tamper with diesel money, because if he refuses to buy fuel it will quickly affect the injector and worn out the engine.
(*****) --- Salary is given so that at the end of the month, the driver/conductor still have something to take home, because they would squander their allowance while travelling.
(******) --- The cost of servicing depends on the truck and its condition of the engine with the availability of the servicing part.
This analysis is for inter state business of flatbed truck

In accordance to one message I received in my email box, the person wants to know which job (local or interstate) is better than the other.

First, let us consider the definition; Local jobs are jobs done within a state(Lagos: Apapa to Ikeja) or within a geographical zones (Western part of Nigeria: Lagos to Ondo) while Interstate are job done from one state to another state especially across geographical zones (Lagos to Abuja).

Hence, am not going to give final and precise verdict on the topic, but we are going to consider some factors which we open our eyes to making decision, the factors such as:

DISTANCE: Due to short distance involves in the local job, the destination can easily be traced if the driver wants to play any trick on you.
INCOME : The amount realized in inter-state job from the calculation is very high and it comes in instant cash.
CAPITAL RECOVERY: Because of the huge income easily generated through inter-state job, the amount committed to starting the business can quickly be recover than the local job.
TRUCK DEPRECIATION: The wear and tear of the truck that goes on far distance is much more higher the truck that ply short distance.
COST MAINTENANCE: It costlier to maintain a truck of inter-state because of the much more wear and tear than that of local truck.
RISK LEVEL: Though this depend on the mind state and experience of driver, but the risk is higher with long distance than short distance.

INCOME GENERATION

By income generation, I mean how to be getting jobs that would give you the rate of turn-over that would enable you to realize the Expected Calculated Income. The following are the ways to get jobs:

Social Networking Platform: Once you have your truck, come on board to social networking platform like nairaland.com and you get a lot of people ready to engage your truck but beware of unscrupulous people on board.
Agents: Just try to get two or three commissioned agents, they get you jobs unlimited
Company: You can walk into any manufacturing/distributing company and ask for the logistic/transport manager and he would tell you their terms and conditions.
Major Transporter: In a case you cannot meet up the terms and conditions of any company, try and be under any major transporter that was able to meet up and you will be getting jobs though at a lower amount.

AREAS OF INVESTING IN HAULAGE BUSINESS

There are various  ways by which you can be involved in haulage business such as:

a.     AGENT: you could get truck for a transporter who had a contract with company but have no enough truck or no time to look for truck  and you get the goods transported to the desired destination.

b.     TRANSPORTER: You can get contract with manufacturing companies such as PZ Ind, Int. Breweries and other and register as their transporter to lift their goods from one point to various part in the country. You will have to have a "good in transit Insurance" to cover loss during journey

c.     INDEPENDENT OPERATOR: Your duty as an independent operator is to get a fleet of trucks and seek for contract with multinationals in the country and get paid for deliveries made. You will have to do your own maintenance and repairs by your self, employ your own drivers. Most of the companies prefer this.

d.     CONTRACTOR: If you are coming into haulage business as a contractor with companies, all you have to do is to register with them and place your fleet at the disposal of the company, they will manage it for, secure the driver, do the maintenance and repair for and pay you an agreed at the end of the month ranging from N300,000 - N500,000.

e.     LEASOR: You can concentrate on leasing out trucks to a haulage company that is registered with manufacturing or multinational. In this case, you will be dealing with the haulage company and not the multinational.

HAULAGE  PRACTICAL OPERATIONAL SYSTEM

After getting the truck, you need to first do the servicing and in the course of the make sure you block the thermostat because the white men used it to make the engine hot to some extent because of the cold weather of their environment but our own weather is already hot. Therefore tell your mechanic to block it.

The front tyres in the tractor should be changed because many of them are already weak and ready to burst at anytime, then you shall be at the mercy of LASTMA if you are operating in Lagos.

Under this sub-topic, I shall use getting a contract of conveying cement or Iron rod from Apapa.  The following are the systems:

1.     The agent or the company you are contracting for, will get a form for you that is called "Authority to Load" by which your truck will be allowed into the terminal port, but trust Nigeria upon all this you will still need to "pour water on the floor" at the gate.

2.     At the point of loading, you will be giving a Waybill in four copies which show the descriptions and the destination of what you are carrying and the authority to carry it.  The original copy is retained at the point of loading, one copy id for the place of delivery to attest that you really delivered the job and the copy back to the point of loading will be signed by the collecting side by which you will be paid your haulage balance and the last copy is for you own documentation.

Is it that easy you want to ask? Yes and no, there are other thing you experience that cannot be explained here but you pass through them practically.

Hi Nairalander,

THE RIGHT VEHICLE TO USE

There are lots of vehicles that can carry goods from one place to the other. Tankers, trailer, tipper, lorries etc are all used in haulage. in choosing vehicle, you should be to know what brand of vehicle is use most in transport what products?

There is no specific answer to this, but there are some factor you consider before choosing your truck to use, such as:

GRADE:     Make sure any truck you want to buy is grade 1 since it imported fairly used. Do not buy any Nigeria used truck if you don't want to give yourself hypertension

INJECTOR:     As much as the engine must be in good condition, you must be wary of the injector, this is the powerhouse of the engine.

HORSE POWER:     For a trailer the Horsepower HP should not be less than 320 and for single, not less than 250

DURABILITY:

MECHANIC:      Make sure there is availability of experienced and honest specialist that can handle the vehicle anytime it has fault.

SPARE PART: Make sure the spare part can easily be found in Nigeria and not too cost.

CHASSIS:

Much had been said about flatbed haulage business, next we shall be talking about TIPPER.

Thanks for all your posts, they are quite interesting I must say. Please, keep them coming. Waiting for your take on tipper or dump trucks.
Re: Haulage Business!haulage Business!haulage Business! In Nigeria by uwish: 8:38pm On Feb 21, 2012
Thanks for the info.1) What can N2m buy for me?

I would also appreciate if you can send me the price range of these fairly-used trucks.

Please I will need to tell me more about the haulage business i.e the minimum capital involved, the major risk and other information necessary.

OK, WELL HOW MUCH IS  AN AVERAGE  20T OR 30T TRUCK. TOKUNBO OR NIGERIAN USED? OR WHICH ONE DO U ADVISE?

Though I promised to talk on tipper or what we can call dump truck, but because of these questions sent into my email box, I will talk a little more on flat bed. Majorly they want to know the capital by which they can start haulage business:
