Fhemmmy: I have a solid block fence on my house on the 6 bedroom (reloaded) page, but the fence is less than 2 years old so it might be an unfair comparison. will look for some pictures later. |

spyder880: You read my mind and i was actually hoping that you would not come and compare a fresh fence made of solid blocks with an old fence made with hollow . . . You just showed your honesty right there. Thanks for being a great person. |

Hi Spyder880, between electrical wiring and suspended ceiling (POP or PVC), which should come first? |
Re: Fence Building Section by NL1960: 10:41am On Jan 18, 2012 |
spyder880: What do you think of the idea whereby hollow blocks are used and then solid blocks are used for the final layer?. With this, you do not need to do a concrete layer on top of the final hollow block layer. |

Re: Fence Building Section by skynettech: 5:25pm On Jan 18, 2012 |
Fhemmmy: As at yesterday, i bought it @ the rate 130/hollow block. I may want to patronize his supplier if i can get his location. |

^^^^ 6" hollow blocks sell for N85 today in Enugu. I got delivery of 1600 blocks of 6" hollow on this site and am just paying the supplier here on site. If you are in Enugu, just holla and we can give you up to 50,000 pcs of 6" hollow tomorrow morning, anywhere in Enugu urban. |

Building seems cheaper in the East compare to places like Lagos. 6" block for N85 compare to N130 in Lagos. |

^^ Abi oh! How much is cement in Enugu now? |
Re: Fence Building Section by spyder880(m): 4:55am On Jan 19, 2012 |
prince_onx: N1800-N1950, depending on brand. |
Re: Fence Building Section by skynettech: 7:50am On Jan 19, 2012 |
spyder880: Building material is more xpensive in Lagos. You guyz are enjoying over there ooo |
Re: Fence Building Section by princeonx: 2:39pm On Jan 19, 2012 |
spyder880:Ol'boy even at that! Dangote is about N2000 (50-200 diff) in Lagos which doesn't make much difference to your price in Enugu but compare N130 to N85 for 6" block. Multiply the N45 diff with about 50-54 pieces of blocks which comes out of a bag of cement. |

Spider, what a great job you, Am alone and other Nairalanders are doing here! I must confess that i have learnt so much here. Keep up the good work. Just this morning, i had to ask my best friend in UK who needed some information on building/building materials to log on to NAIRALAND.COM to get all he may be looking for. I feel so proud to be a member here. God bless you all! If i may ask, how many 6" hollow blocks will complete the fencing of 60 x 120 feet plot of land? And like how many bags of cement will be used for the erection of the blocks? Thank you! |
Re: Fence Building Section by ajileko: 11:41pm On Jan 20, 2012 |
@Bigz Girlz I think the gaps are for the reinforcement pillars that will hold the fence. |
Re: Fence Building Section by princeonx: 11:57pm On Jan 20, 2012 |
blank: ajileko:You are very correct! They are for the pillars. Lately people have been using angled blocks for pillars to save cost i guess instead of rods, gravel, sand, and cement which is more expensive and without a doubt much stronger. |
