Kano — The Imo State Governor Chief Rochas Okorocha has said that all the phone calls and text messages sent to the East that Igbo indigenes living in Kano were massacred in Kano during the last Friday series of bomb blasts were false and baseless rumors that have no basis.



Okorocha told Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso that he was personally disturbed at the rate of phone calls and text messages that were sent to the east that many soles of Igbo people were killed in the multiple bomb blasts of Kano which necessitated his visit to see for himself.

The Imo governor noted that on his arrival he went to Sabon Gari where many of his people live, ' but after going round and meeting with virtually everybody all of them denied that the story of killings of Igbo people were cooked for unknown reason, as such they are baseless and unfounded'.

He said already he had directed that all those that have started running away to stay behind as there was no basis for their leaving Kano, as the government of Kwankwaso is doing all it could to ensure the safety of all the non indigenes and the teeming people of the state.



He said that Igbo's were assets not only to themselves to the nation wherever they go.

"Igbos are never a threat to anybody because what concerns an Igbo man is his business, that is why they should be seen as brothers not enemies', he said.

He said Nigeria is facing a more fundamental and challenging period that requires all its citizenry to come together and solve them, he said they must see themselves as their brothers' keepers not enemies as some want to see them.


He urged the federal government to provide more security to Kano because of its population and cosmopolitan nature, just as he urged Kwankwaso to give more priority in times of security to areas like Sabon Gari so that non indigenes should feel safe and at home.

He assured that Nigeria would come out with a more brighter future from the challenges they are facing, '"but this does not mean we should fold our arms and leave the evil ones among us to continue to control our lives, we have to do something to stop them."

Meanwhile the wife of the vice President Amina Namadi Sabo wept at the Emir of Kano palace while talking about the unfortunate Friday bombings that pervaded Kano.

She said what had happened was not acceptable as such government will do all it could to arrest the situation from reoccurring.

I'm trying to figure out who youre referring to with this post. Seeing as I didnt mention your name in my last post (even though you should have been included) I seriously doubt its me (at least, if I consider the false allegation in it).

That said, I wonder what people like you gain by stoking the embers of hatred. What are you bitter about? Werent you loved as a child? When in your life did it happen that you just had to thrive on deciet, lies, confusion and hatred? At least two persons were, yesterday, injured in Kano after a locally made Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off at a luxury bus park, situated at New Road in Sabon-Gari, Kano.

The Daily Sun gathered that the explosion, which caused a minor mishap around the Lagos Line area of the park, sparked off in-between two East-bound luxury vehicles, namely Gobison Motors and God Loves Ezenwata Motors. The impact of the explosion shattered the glass of one of the luxury buses that was in the park.
The spark went off as passengers, mostly southerners fleeing the state on account of the Boko Haram tragedy, went in the morning to buy their tickets and get their items loaded ahead of their journey.

The two persons, whose names could not be identified as at press time, were rushed to a nearby private clinic for medical attention, said witnesses. But a police source, who begged anonymity, said only one person was injured in the blast.

The explosion immediately threw the Sabon-Gari Quarters, a predominantly non-native community, into confusion, resulting in a brief stampede that saw traders and market people hurriedly closing their shops and speedily dashing to their respective homes.
A team of soldiers as well as operatives of the Bomb Disposal Unit of the Nigeria Police were immediately invited to the scene of the incident. They, in turn, cordoned off the whole area and asked all the passengers and luxury vehicles to vacate the park while they searched for possible more explosives.

The Daily Sun was told that the explosive was hidden in a bag by its owners, adding that the bag was among the items meant to be loaded in the bus. At least, one person was arrested by the officers at the scene while there were indications that the officers might have defused other explosives within the park. A laptop was also retrieved from the scene of the incident and taken away by the police.

There has been no official comment so far. Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Magaji Majiya declined comment on the matter when the Daily Sun contacted him, saying he had not been briefed on the matter.

Total figures of Boko Haram victims put together according to statistics flying around should be in the nieghbourhood of 1000 people. Lets say = 1200(we Nigerians medias with under reporting)

The figures of Igbos that died to my knowledge should be = 13(Adamawa still disputable) + 42(madalla) + 4(Potiskum) = 59!.

Lets us consider unreported casualities and make our figures to be = 100 i.e (59 known +41 unknown)

now, take out 100 from 1200, what do you get? 1100 !?!.

How could any sane mind come with that fabricated lies that Boko Haram are targeting ONLY Igbos? ?

I think Rochas is only trying to avert reprisal attacks. Nothing more,
15 corpses were just buried in Anambra state all from the same attack in Kano. Maybe they just died, or maybe they are from your local government.
