FEC APPROVES N1BILLION FOR PURCHASE OF GARBAGE TRUCKS, N1BILLION FOR AIRPORT ROAD BEAUTIFICATION

The Federal Executive Council (FEC), has approved tons of questionable multi billion naira projects set to be executed by sundry contractors in the 2012 financial year.

This is even as it approved a whooping N400 Million for the Auditing of the Oil and Gas sector as well as the Solid Mineral industries.

Some of the curious contracts are for the supply of 28 units of waste compacting trucks (1xGarbage Body 20 +1.5m3 capacity, mounted on Mercedes Benz 3340, 6x4 chasis with euro engine. Cost, N1.071,577,507.41 Billion, contractor, Messrs Geodetics offshore services limited; contract for the establishment of plant nursery tree planting , landscaping and beautification of Umaru Yar’Adua expressway, Airport road, FCT, Abuja. Cost: N1.451, 605, 114.64 Billion.

The construction of Federal government Secretariats in Gombe, Anambra, Bayelsa, Nassarawa, Osun and Zamfara will cost between N15 Billion, contract for consultancy services for stages 1 and 2 in respect of the construction of new Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Headquarters in Abuja will cost N73, 427, 476.78 Million; contract for the construction of the National Information Technology Center by Galaxy Backbone Services, N7, 274, 638, 250.51 Billion; contract to check gully erosion at Chainages, N710 135, 133, 75 Million.

Two other curious contracts are for the conduct of oil and gas audit (2009 and 2011), to be handled by Messrs Sada Idris & Co, which will cost N226, 613, 000 Million; and that for the audit of the solid minerals industry (2009 to 2010), which will gulp N137 Million.

Construction and commissioning of the 235km 2nd Kaduan-Kano 330kv double circuit, N4, 154, 133, 631. 19 Billion; 2x330kv line bays extension in each of Delta (Ughelli) and portharcourt 330/132kv substation, US4, 401, 704.24 Million plus an additional N551,133, 551.17; augmentation of the contract sum for the rehabilitation of Lagos Harbour Moles, is pegged at N20, 035, 710, 566.72 Billion ( revised estimate).
