I found the spech given by the Niger state Governor during Ojukwu's burial rites in Zungeru, Niger state. Listen from 2.30. I believe his quote "Many people will respond by running away" fits a certain brigadier, who ran away from his father's land to the UK at the sight of drunken northen soldiers. Little wonder the man Ojukwu is hated by this brigadier's kinsmen because he (Ojukwu) chose to protect his people. RIP to you (Ojukwu) my king and leader . Ojukwu has a history of going into hiding when the field gets too hot. He went into hiding as Governor of East region when Murtala threatened to bring trouble to him in Enugu. It was because he feared Murtala that he refused to go to any meeting on Nigerian soil and when he agreed to go to Ghana for Aburi he agreed on condition that Murtala was not present. The war was fought on the back of brave men like Banjo, Achuzia and foreign mercenaries like Taffy Williams and co. . . . Ojukwu was never at the front, only time he shot bullets was to kill armless people like Ademoyega and Banjo. Then when Adekunle entered Igbo territory and made his famous press statement, Ojukwu immediately relocated to an unknown location. Then Obasanjo went on the hunt for him. . . . and this was when he cross dressed to sneak out in the middle of night. A general of Ibo army is not fit to even lead a platoon in Yoruba army. . . . . Akintola was an epitome of Yoruba General for you. . . .Abiola was a Yoruba general. Who do you have to match their bravery and courage? None. . .so shut up and stop bothering peaceful people with fantasies of an unsuccessful war. |

read what a real warlord, Effiong had to say about Ojuku When Biafra's military resistance collapsed, Ojukwu fled to Côte d'Ivoire. The b1nch fled the war front and left the populace to die What a shame to war generals. God bless Effiong a true general who waited not the biatch who fled |

alex_101: Do you know who Hassan Usman Katsina is? Do you know who Murtala Muhammed is? Do you know who Adekulne is? Murtala tormented Ojukwu. . . .everytime Ojukwu hear Murtala coming to East, even when it was nothing but rumors he went into hiding - an undisclosed location! Now, when the non commissioned officers started their mutiny, even Murtala was not spared, he came close to being killed by his own soldiers. Adekunle demolished Igbo territory and forced Ojukwu to relocate into hiding. Even Adekunle was almost killed, trying to save the neck of Ibo officers who were being slaughtered like nama by Hausa NCOs. The Brigadier withstood the encounters in Ikeja, the mutinous NCOs told him they could not trust anyone to lead them but Northerners. . , . in the middle of chaos and loss of command where discipline and law and order had broken down, he responded correctly by giving them what was best to restore discipline. It was not his choice to go to Britain. He compromised in the intervention to halt Murtala's assertion to evacuate Hausas out of Nigeria and form an Arewa country. He had earned the respect of British leaders who knew him 6years earlier and he was one of the contacts through which the arrangement was made to block Hausa exit. Hence one of the reasons he ended up in London to continue the negotiations and act as the point person. . . the go between for Britain and the new military leadership command. Ogundipe was a brave man and a well respected man in military and in diplomatic circles. Let's hear from you why Ojukwu kept going into rabbit holes every time he hear 'Murtala coming", or 'Scorpion is advancing". |

ACM10: Civilians against the might of the Nigerian military! ( Alani Akinrinade was retired) Abacha was all brawns and no brains, ( kind of like ibos) and it takes people like him to usurp power and use it to harass civilians. Nigerian soldiers were been killed in Bakassi at the time, did he declare war on Camaroon? Absolutely not, it was a lot easier to shoot at women and pro democracy activists. People who carried no guns!! But at last nko? He got his Viagra. |

ACM10:Are u equating Yoruba civilians to an igbo general? Ojukwu was just an educated historian who rose too fast to become an army General. The guy is a real mama's boy. Surely ojuku was trained in the art of war while Civilians are not trained to fight wars Ojuku was a disgrace to his training. Its like asking if there is a genetic difference between a Mechanic trained to fix cars and a doctor When a car breaks down and the mechanic cant fix it vs when a car break down and a doctor cant fix it Who is the disgrace here? |

It is ignorant to call Ojukwu a coward. He saw his people being killed and he stood up to fight for them. That in my opinion is very noble. Did he make mistakes? Yes he did. But to call him a coward is very unfair. Ojukwu left when it was clear and unequivocal that Biafra had lost. Not long after Ojukwu left, the Udi airport was captured by the Federal troops. If Ojukwu stayed, he would have been captured, humiliated, tortured, and killed. At that time, Igbos loved and admired Ojukwu so much that if he was killed, they would never have seen themselves as Nigerians. The last thing that post civil war Nigeria needed was for Ojukwu to become a Biafran martyr. If Ojukwu was killed, Igbos would have view it was an unforgivable sin by the Nigerian government. Shikena! |
