No fewer than three people were yesterday feared dead in an ethnic clash that ensued between some Yoruba and Hausa traders in Mile 12 area of Lagos state .

LEADERSHIP learnt that the crisis erupted as a result of the killing of a commercial motorcycle operator popularly known as Okada rider alleged to have snatched a bag belonging to an Hausa man.

An eye witness identified himself as Mr. Francis Iweje,” There was crisis here today and its was caused due to the killing of an Okada rider who snatched a bag containing money held by an Hausa man.

“The moment some irate youths discovered the guy was a Yoruba guy , they challenged the Hausa people who were carrying him to dump his body at the river . That was it, before we knew it there was problem as serious fight between the Yoruba and Hausa broke out and so many people were injured . We all ran for safety but we were told three people died”.

Confirming the incident the incident the Lagos Police Public Relations officer Joseph Jaiye –Oba told our correspondent on phone that only one person was killed in the fracas .
