Nigeria is like a ship filled with clueless passengers (Nigerians) sinking at a moderate speed to the bottom of the ocean with its clueless Captain (President You Know yourself) unable to handle the situation whilst boko haram acts as strong tides trying to overturn the ship before it even sinks.

@ onomesike. Your personal hate against GEJ is very evident. Your blindness to the truth and the intricacies of governance shows that you and your likes are actually the problems of Nigeria with your unguarded utterances. How long has GEJ been in office? What are the problems of Nigeria? For how long have those problems existed? Who has been at the helm of affairs? Killing innocent Nigerians and burning churches resolves the economic problems of the north?

To end Nigeria's problem, certain people need to be lined up and shot, ghana-style. angry
I have said my own.

Federal.

State.

Local.

So which is Carson castigating for lack of performance in the North?

Keep in mind that both state and local are fully controlled by that same north....

Oh boy everybody except goverment thiefs and criminals de hearam. GEJ no de do him work.

@ INGEJ4HIM,you are the one who hates Nigeria,Nigerians but Love GEJ for allowing the killing of patriotic hardworking Nigerians under his watch. As I am talking to you, this ur GEJ god has destroyed, looted, divided and 'EATEN' how common patrimony through his personal failings and administrative incompetence. He was not even honest enough to keep his word on everything ;from power, now less than 3000mw for 150million people yet he appropriated millions to fuel generators in aso-rock and otuoke,he keeps asking nigerians to sacrifice yet he will be buying 2 new jets this year according to 2012 budget,security,education-he created new universities while the money for education budget remains significantly unchanged,he unleashed a dangerous divisive politicking on everything that should bind the masses together,he retained so much millions to feed himself even as poverty index grows in the land.He even rehabilitated Alams and characteristically, will do same to the jailbird Ibori. Now,he is even planning,in the face of his monumental ineptitude,to extend his rule to 2019!!Nigerians cant pin his administration to any development plans. This man is taking away our breakfast, lunch ,dinner and sanity!!His judgement so far,is a disgrace to ijaw and that glorified kindergarten uniport that dashed him 'phd'.GEJ's administration took inept leadership to new height when compared to his predecessors!

This part of Carson's statement is factual :- "Public opinion polls and news reports suggest there is a strong sentiment throughout the country - but especially in the North - that government is not on the side of the people and their poverty is a result of government neglect, corruption, and abuse.”

Kabai: Is Carson saying that the same oil money generated from the south which has been the main source of fund for development of the various regions of the country has not always been shared to the north? Is he saying that the Nigerian government or the presidency should take over the job of the state governors and local government executives? Is Carson saying that there has not been leaders (presidents) from the north who have seen and perceived the abject poverty of their people? Is he saying that the massive control of the oil sector/resources of the country could not have been used to develop the north? What is Obama saying, by the way? whoever wants to talk about Boko Haram should blame the northern leaders who trained and equipped them with weapons. US should learn to make sincere comments regarding the Nigerian situation(if they know) today. We are aware that their comments have a way of affecting the security situation of Nigeria (positively or negatively). If they wish to sponsor the division they had earlier predicted, let them come on openly and stop making this kind of comments that will not help the country either. The Nigerian people are becoming wiser. They should know that we can decode whatever they encode when they make these kind of comments.

i was gonna ask those Q's myself...if their state governors,LG chairmen and the various political appointed people dont have a vision and blueprint for their state's development and its indigenes, who is to blame? After all even if its PDP,AC,APGA,UPGA,CPC,HIV that's ruling either through rigging or free and fair elections, its still an Indigene of that state that still emerges winner and not an outsider.

One thing that irritates the hell outta me is an adult who can't take responsibility for his mistakes...

like seriously mate, do u know ur Nigerian history??
how long now has the North been killing igbo's and burning churches throughout various military and civilian administration without a soul being tried and prosecuted? Our silence over the years has gotten us where we are now. Now that Christianity and the church has stood the test of time, they r now bombing their our people who are converts...(never seen a hatred so deep).

If boko haram are seriously against education as their brand name suggests, they should have bombed Atiku's university a long time ago.
This their clueless way of operating (bombimg anything at random to satisfy their excitement) is very pissing

~Bluetooth:

A minority cannot rule a country like Nigeria cuz he lacks the political will/swags to tackle most issues. No wonder ACN and Buhari address jonathan like a tomboy.

but minority resources is good for Nigeria, keeping on deceiving yourself by thinking that this is 1966 when the world will keep quiet when the majority is destroying the minority.your country is becoming a disgrace to Africa because you people can not respect the diversity of humanity.

nagoma: Your President is not qualified for the job, period. he was not selected for his capacity or his abilities at governance or his principles. He was selected on tribal and religious sentiments. How do you expect him to build a strong country? There will continue to be booze for the boys and enjoyment galore for his kith and kin but forget about real development.

pls.who before him was not on tribal selection?let people stop pretending as if Nigeria just started today.you people sowed mango many years ago and today, you want him to harvest orange for you.every body criticizes anybody that is not from his tribe and keep quiet when his people are doing this same thing.post 1966 Nigeria was founded on incompetency and nurtured by patronage that gives no room for merit but rewards mediocrity.you want JONATHAN to do magic for you and he cant,so be patient as as he is busy planting human agents of change in different sectors to remedy the political and economics atrocities of the past with less social political consequence.

THE Barak Obama administration has again declared that Islamic militants in northern Nigeria are capitalising on popular discontent with the government, with a call on the Federal Government to tackle economic problems in order to stop the violence.

U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Johnnie Carson, speaking at the Washington Center for Strategic and International Studies, said the threat from Boko Haram grows as Nigeria’s standard of living declined on Monday night.

“Nigerians are hungry for progress and improvement in their lives, but northern Nigerians feel this need most acutely. Life in Nigeria may be tough for many, but life in the North is grim for almost all,” he said

“Public opinion polls and news reports suggest there is a strong sentiment throughout the country - but especially in the North - that government is not on the side of the people and their poverty is a result of government neglect, corruption, and abuse.”

“Although Boko Haram is reviled throughout Nigeria and offers no practical solutions to the country’s problems, a growing minority of certain northern ethnic groups, however, regard them favourably,” he said, adding that “Boko Haram capitalises on popular frustrations with the nation’s leaders.”

Talking about the solution to the conflict, Carson said it is a far harder problem to tackle now because it is no longer one group controlled by a single charismatic leader, adding that “Boko Haram is now both a larger group focused on discrediting Nigeria’s government and a smaller, increasingly sophisticated and lethal group with a broader anti-Western jihadist agenda and links to al-Qaeda.”

He noted that complicating the situation further is the tendency of some Nigerian officials to blame Boko Haram for all bank robberies and local vendettas in the North when some were clearly the work of common criminals and political thugs.

Carson said President Goodluck Jonathan’s government needed a new social compact with northern citizens, local non-governmental organisations, civil society, and religious leaders, adding that “Abuja needs an economic recovery strategy that complements its security strategy.

“Northern populations are currently trapped between violent extremists on the one hand and heavy-handed government responses on the other. They need to know that their president is going to go to extraordinary lengths to fix their problems"he said.

I don't care what USA and her wide mouth has to say. The US should better watch her back because biblical prophecy says she (babylon) will be destroyed soon in these last days. The US is doing well because she had God's favour but because she turned away from God, she will no longer have God's covering but rather God's wrath upon her.

As for Nigeria, all the wickedness and unGodliness perpetrated by Nigerians is the reason why Nigeria is now dealing with all this mess. God don't like ugly and the boko haram menace is just the begining of problems to come for Nigerians in Nigeria. Mark my words.
