This postulate that " north ruled Nigeria for so many years" is a mischievous fallacy . North never ruled anybody. Some NORTHERNERS and some SOUTHERNERS whether military or civilians ruled for those years.

I dont want Nigeria to split, there are many things to fix but I am not under the illusion that breaking up will fix them.
