Shouldnt Lagos State Govt Prosecute Sacked Doctors After Patient Deaths Audit? by onomeasike: 2:24am On May 09, 2012
I was wondering where is the right(I assume such right exists and somebody gets paid to protect the right of its citizens) of a patient to assert his human right to life particularly when his right to life is legitimately placed in the hands of a healthcare professional,in this case a person, who puts himself/herself across to the patient as a doctor, bound by a professional oath, and then swindles the patient by not only failing to meet up with the patients expectation but went on to abandon the patient right in the middle of such contractual service, without any prior notification to the patient or sufficient time for the patient to plan alternative care giver and for no choice of the patient, had his/life cut short or her pregnancy lost without his/her permission by a decietful doctor who failed to explain fully to the patient, is at the risk of having his/her treatment terminated without prior notification, at the point the contract between the patient and his/her doctor was being initiated?

Methinks, lagos state or the civil society or humanright activists or bereaved families of died patients should audit the human lives losses recorded during the strike by each of the sacked doctors,to identify those unlucky patients killed by the doctors strike for compensation of their families and eventual documentation and prosecution of only the killer doctors. The files and the records are their in each hospital and as a matter of fact is beyond the reach of the sacked doctors.Any registered doctor, ofcourse exempting the intern doctors who work under supervision of registered medical doctors, whose decision to participate in the strike and consequent abrupt termination of his professional contractual commitmment to the patient SHOULD BE FISHED OUT,INVESTIGATED AND PROSECUTED AND CONVICTED FOR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY.
The responsibility of the govt to protect the weak in the society is sancrosanct and overides the interest of the employer -employee relationship.
GOVT MUST NOT STOP AT SACKING THESE KILLER DOCTORS,THEY SHOULD BE QUICKLY ROUNDED UP BEFORE THEY RUN-OUT OF NIGERIA to countries where they hoped to receive better pay.
Somebody must please tell me,shouldnt Lagos state prosecute these doctors for lost lives, permanent deformity, lost pregnancies etc after sacking them, granted, they flout civil service rules, they ve also trampled on thr rights of their dead patients to life!

This is what is associated with dumb and frequent strikes they start to lose the PR battle. People are just so tired of these doctors going on strike that they are turning against them. Why can't they just negotiate more?

imagine a child booked for a ruptured appendix,an HIV/AIDS patient whose firstline drugs have failed or are finished, imagine all the patients on life-support in intensive care units, imagine a poor pregnant woman with eclampsia and advanced stage of pregnancy, imagine patients with cerebral haemorhage or stroke whose families have just struggled to raise funds to do echocardiography on doctor advice and getting back to find their relative abandoned, imagine all those patients with diabetic emergencies, imagine cancer patients etc..ALL THESE PEOPLE DYING AND THESE DOCTORS WILL GET AWAY WITH JUST A MERE SACK? NO THEY MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE LAGOS,IF THEY ARE ALLOWED TO ESCAPE,PEOPLE WILL RESORT TO SELF-HELP IN GETTING RESTITUTION FROM THE SYSTEM THAT ABANDONED THEIR LOVED ONES AT THE POINT OF NEED.Just like it once happened in LUTH,people will come and physically harm everybody working in the hospitals, govt must ensure these killer doctors dont put the lives of other health professionals in jeopardy!

These killer doctors have just killed people for reasons amongst which includes failure of govt to pay intern doctors teaching allowance!!
these killer doctors must be paid back the same dose they ve meted out to the society that produced them!

I can't judge. All I can say is that someone has to be held responsible for deaths that occurred due to negligence of duty. Seems Lagos government is already thinking on that line of action by claiming they failed to report for duties, something about not given enough notice before they decided to be absent from work. I watched an online interview with the commissioner of special duties, a doctor himself. He claimed that an house officer, level 10-fresh from college house officer earns around the same amount as a lawyer on level 15 with the same Lagos state civil service due to CONMESS and they are still asking for more. m glad one of my little cousin is now studying medicine at ife, I never knew they get paid that much in Nigeria with respect to our low GDP. I was like OMG, God dey sha.
