Subsidy probe: CSOs call for Diezani, others’ sack •Reject hike in electricity tariff

THE Anti-corruption Network, a coalition of civil society orga-nisations (CSO), has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to urgently relieve the Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Allison-Madueke and others who were indicted by the report of Lawan Farouk led ad-hoc committee that probed the subsidy regime in the House of Representatives.

Already, the groups had been collecting signatures to be presented to the Senate President, Senator David Mark, for onward transmission to President Jonathan.

The organisations also rejected the planned hike in electricity tariff, adding that it would bring untold hardship on Nigerians.

Honourable Dino Mela-ye, who spoke with journalists at a rally organised by the organisations in Abuja, said though it was understandable that the report did not directly indict Diezani, she was in charge of the agencies indicted in the probe.

According to Melaye, it was a global practice that once an organisation which anyone supervised was under investigation, the person in charge would have to step aside, to allow independent investigation.

“We are here under the auspices of Anti-corruption Network, a coalition of civil society organisations. We are asking Nigerians to come and register with us on protest that the Minister of Petroleum, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke and others who have been indicted by the Foruk Lawan-led ad hoc committee report on subsidy should immediately vacate their respective offices,” he said.

Melaye said now that the subsidy report had been submitted by the House of Representatives to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), investigations must commence immediately.

“If investigation is going to commence, Diezani cannot be a judge in her own case,” the group said.

On the electricity hike, he lamented that Nigerians were being made to pay for the profligacy of the elite, adding that government must ensure the availability of the product before hiking electricity tariff.

Melaye said Nigerians were yet to recover from the increase in price of petrol, stressing that any further increment would aggravate the security challenges in the country.

Jonathan has shown he is not mentally sound to hold the position he he is holding to day. The whole of Nigeria has demanded him to sack Diezanni Allison Madueke for high profile corruption but he has refused. The same way he was warned about fuel subsidy.. and people wonder why he is not given the respect that accrues to his position. In civilized countries, Aliion madueke would have resigned. If the president doesnt want her to be sacked, can't he quietly push for her resignation. That woman is evil. Her charms must be straight from the waters of india for her to still keep her job after all these allegations. This is why Obasanjo is better than that clownish looking man!

Johndoe100: ^^^ The only nut case is you. Who is calling for her removal you toad?

Nigerians including you are calling for her resignation.
Madueke is suppose to be in jail. I knew she was up to something during the town hall meeting. Nigerians has so easily forgotten the lies she told us during the town hall meeting. But when the probe started, you can hear her singing another tone. There one sentence she normally speaks with her big eyeball opened like cow, "we are working really hard" Jesus wept! Working hard? are you kidding me? Federal govt paying subsidy for kerosene when Nigerians cannot buy the product from nozzle at the stipulated price? working hard when every dick and harry importing fuel into Nigeria? Working really hard in making sure the so called subsidy hit 3.1 trillion instead of 250billion budgeted for. That is the meaning of her so called "working hard".

Where are those who voted Jonathan and not PDP?
I done talk my own if you like go dive transformer. grin grin grin grin
