State House Marina: The pink and white mansion is State House, while the grey and yellow building is an administrative building. The rest of the compound consists of a large garden with beautiful sculptures. The church pictured here is Our Saviour's (Anglican Church) which is directly behind State House. It used to be the State House chapel.

They're adding barbed wire to the fence. It seems GEJ prefers Marina to Dodan Barracks.

Dodan Barracks has this exact same type of gate except for the Ribadu Road entrance. The Obasanjo Administration replaced the gate at Ribadu Road with a white piece of junk.

At Dodan Barracks the coat of arms is attached to the (red) mast above the gate. Here at Marina the mast is bare, but the coat of arms is carved into the front wall of the building.

I hope and pray that they don't ruin the beauty of this building/compound with all the security measures they are putting in place.

I'm not absolutely certain about this, but this looks very much like the lobby @ the Council Chambers, Aso Rock Villa.

Former heads of state (l-r) Ernest Shonekan, Muhamadu Buhari, Yakubu Gowon, Olusegun Obasanjo, Shehu Shagari, Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalam Abubakar.

I'm looking for pictures of the "Round House" at Ikeja (can't seem to find my copies). It was the governors office, but since 2007 it has served as the deputy governor's office. Anybody that has a copy should please post it.

It would also be nice to see pictures of state Government House in each of the 36 states.

Entrance to State House Dodan Barracks (Ribadu Road).

(L-R) John Pepper Clark, Chinua Achebe & Wole Soyinka @ Dodan Barracks to plead for the life of (soldier & poet) Major General Mamman Vatsa.

You'll notice the burglar proof features at the top of the wall. They are currently adding those features to the wall of State House Marina, thereby ruining its aesthetic beauty.

Lieutenant General Olusegun Obasanjo (Head of State of Nigeria), Mr Andrew Young (American ambassador @ the UN) and Major General Joseph Nanven Garba (foreign minister of Nigeria) walk down the walkway @ Dodan Barracks.

General Gowon gave Joe Garba the task of finding a new residence for the Head of State in 1967 (the Head of State lived at State House Marina at the time, but with the recent coups and the tension leading up to the civil war, it was decided that Marina did not provide enough protection for the Head of State). Garba, who was the commander of the Brigade of Guards at the time, chose State House Ribadu Road (Dodan Barracks).
