Is Aptamil now 4,500? Wow. Before I left Naija, Lagos, just a few months ago...the prices were -

Aptamil 900g - 3,700/3,750

Enfamil refillable tin 625 g - 7,500
Enfamil refill 2 x 625g - 11,000
Enfamil non-refillable tin - 6,500

Similac was around the Enfamil price range. It's also better to do the refillable Enfamil.

As you can see, Aptamil offers more quantity and lesser price. But it is 1scoop to 1oz...so it almost adds up with Enfamil which is 1scoop to 2oz, at the end of the day.

Will these brand of formula help my son increase in weight?
At birth 2.89kg now 5 months and 9 days don't think he is up to 6kg because at 4 months he was 5kg.

Im planning to introduce cereals [cerelac] at 6 months. Presently, he takes 400g of NAN for 6 days. He doesn't like eating.

Thanks

@bossyladyMo, yes it's the dollar increase it used to be cheaper. @rezzy,it may help your baby in weight but one thing I know it will do is make your baby healthy

maybe u should give him Abidec or Becombion (B-complex). It helps increase appetite in babies

Thanks for your response.

I always clean his tongue with q-tips and a saline solution but it doesn't look any better. I'm pretty sure its not milk residue. The doctor told me it was oral thrush resulting from the antibiotic IV I got during labour.

That thing isn't thrust, it will surely clear on its own. I remember wen it was on my lo's mouth at 3months, I wasn't comfortable wit it nd googled it nd it says abt thrust, I wasn't still satisfied until I went to d hosp. I was told it was breast milk residue.
I left it nd it went away for good

I have been given him abidec since Feb. Can I give him both cos I have bought the B complex.

Imagine he didn't take up to 200ml of formula today and he didn't suck too

Thanks....the miconazole gel the doctor gave me is not working. I have gone through 2 tubes already. My son is not experiencing any discomfort but the white coating is nasty to look at.

Get a second opinion, I had antibiotic Iv too during labor...doesn't matter, and If miconazole isn't clearing it and the baby isn't in any discomfort as you have mentioned the prob of it being thrush is very very very very low

Did you give your baby gripe water? Gripe water gave my baby hairy tongue which I thought was oral thrush too at the time

Ah!! I give my son gripe water daily. Its probably not oral thrush then. I will book another doctors appointment and see what they say.

What a relief.... thanks ever so much.

Hello mamas, i have a 2 weeks old baby. I haven't been giving him any drugs. Some friends are suggesting I start giving him ampiclox drop and Nospamin drop, that it helps to calm their stomach and make them sleep better at night.
Should i try them? I'm a Ftm.

Thank you mamas for your prompt answers. I took my son to d clinic(primary Health Centre) and the midwife said i shouldn't worry about giving any drug, I should just keep giving Bmilk, that it is sufficient for babies and is able to help them fight infections.
