I placed som calls 2 friends at zaria, nd confirmed dat many studnts at ABU zaria, Nd other institutions lik fce zaria nd nuhu bamalli poly hv vacated their schools evn b4 d comin of d govt buses. I see stranded studnts dat ar eager 2 run 4 their dear lives knowin dat smooth talks spill frm evil minds nowadays. Many studnts fall victim of violence wen dey embark on journey out of crisis zone on their own particularly attackers road block.. The willingness of d studnt 2 leave nd d security provided by d evacuation team in form of escort , justifies d govt's actions. I tink we shud learn 2 respect odas freedom of movment. If d schs had made proper security measures available, studnts wudnt hv preferd 2 run. They wer nt forced away dey willingnly decide d enjoy their govrs deep concern nd magnanimity...

okcyggen: Not taking sides yet, but could someone confirm to us the sincere "physical" location of the VC during the heat of the crisis in Kaduna last week? We might be suprised he was secluded somewhere behind the rocks in Abuja. Well, more critiques to follow when his own location then is confirmed.

Individually speaking, if I were the governor, I'll evacuate even at rumour-stage before the dawn of crises cos with the present situation of things in the North, its only oneself and whomever or whatever he believes in that could "guarantee" ur safety. Hightime we stopped fooling ourselves.

Food for thought: How many calls were you able to put through to the president during the live media chat yesterday? Nigeria experienced the worst network peculiar to connecting those landlines yesterday. Who dey fool who? "Their smiling and sweet talking cannot fool us no more" (Lucky Dube)

I don't knw about now but back when I was in ABU....it was the safest school in Nigeria nd after barracks, ABU samaru campus was the safest place to seek refuge..

What if something had happened to the students while in transit? Who will be blamed?....those governors efed up...the least they could do was to inform the school authorities....

Anyway, as for the students whom are absent in class, I trust ABU....extra year dey await some students cos am sure some kind test parrowl will roll in with immediate effect....except no be the ABU I know...

Well I am really suprised about ur remarks as you would suggest dat other indigines stay and get their heads chopped off as in kongo alone you can feel the tension there and also you are in a place being dominated by muslims we are talking about 1 christian : 10 muslims and you feel the vibe whenever you going to gyalessu to buy what to eat as they were more than 3 state governors that sent their busses to pack their indiges as that goes to show how safe the state is how much more the school as I am a living withness of those that left and will entertain any question from you just to clear your doubt....

lacasa: Tђat's not right.

Even if the Bayelsa, Jigawa anϑ Rivers state governments felt they had τ̅o evacuate their students from the institution, they should αve first of all contacted the state government of kaduna as it is the governor †ђªt is saddled with the security of all inhabitants within the state. After †ђªt if the governor deems it necessary, the V.C will now be notified anϑ then the evacuation takes place formally.

But, now †ђªt students are whisked away without the knowledge of the governor as chief security officer anϑ the VC of the institution, if something were τ̅o happen in transit or accident for example (God forbid sha) what would be the wisdom behind this move?

Well, thank God the curfew has been relaxed anϑ normalcy is resuming gradually, very soon academic activities will resume.

We keep praying for peace in our land anϑ the exposure anϑ humiliation of those causing all this havoc whoever anϑ wherever they may be. Amen.

Its not right how? If I feel my life is in danger and my government/sponsors/guardians express a similar view, I don't need to consult anyone before fleeing the scene of a potential powder keg. I totally agree with taking Pre-empitve measures to possibly avert a dangerous situation. Anything could have happened in between trying to contact the VC and then the Kaduna Governor. Then the discussion would be about why the respective state governments didn't take proactive measures to evacuate their indigenes in order to prevent the loss of life. So thumbs down to your view!

Some people think Samaru Campus is ABU Zaria, some don't even think Kongo is part, that guy blabbing, why can't u transfer yourself to kongo and come and stay. Mere kids called 'yaro boys' overran the so called security men during post-election crisis when the school chapel was burnt. So tell me what was burnt in Samaru?, Samaru is only safe because it's the main campus and the senate building is there. Kongo is not safe enough that's the fact.

I support fully the steps of the said state Governors. Although courtesy should have been made to the VC of ABU Zaria, as sign of respect. Lets not forget he is the chief security officer of the institution. That said, he should grant pardon just for next time. I trust Rivers and Bayelsa cos they'll waste no time sending those students abroad just incase the VC refuse their returning to school activities. Don't say I didn't warn!!!

.No beef fermosky and I quit undastand ur point bt this issue on ground is not post election violence, it 2 different tinz. And u knw an average hausa man in zaria survives only on daily income generated by buisness which we d student are their main means of survival, reason dis urself beside the post election violence wen hav their been violence between the muslims and xtians in zaria even wen kaduna was bloody zaria was calm, my elder sister spent 7 yrs in ABU zaria notin of such and hav spent 4yrs notin of such, all wat we hear is panic and rumours.Kongo campus is partly not safe coz of that bomb blast durin the post election violence bt trust me God is in control, I learnt d Emir of ZauZau(Zaria) has warn all d yaro boys 2 kip off and u knw they respect their Emirs a lot, the tin is jst do ur remaining yrs and graduate, ABU certificate is too influential 2 miss.
