yes they are speed capable but aerodynamic, balance and handling i doubt, maybe a supra... I don't toyota would even bring that back
Even a volkswagen polo is "german". And that makes it handle better than a subaru impreza?

You never know...have you driven both before, if yes... What year, model and specs. Let's take it from there.

I was scrolling through my old photos and I found this picture of me maxing out a 2005 corolla three years ago. This car is one of the worst cars I've ever driven based on performance, as in eh, the thing felt as if it was no longer on the road, at its top speed of 110mph that 1.8liter engine is rotating at 6000rpm cry we have 1.6liter engine cars that are far better than that. Mehn a big engine is big engine, at 110mph my Mercedes engine rotates at just 3200rpm or so
lol ur a bad driver perhaps thats why tongue.. i have maxed out a corolla 2004 just like yours at about 4,000 rpm before

perhaps u car is in a better shape than the one I drove. It wasn't my car so I don't know even the type of engine oil used in the car. The one I drove is the sport model, could it be what caused the high revs?

I'm only trying to be reasonable and fair or rather I guess this is what you suggest we compare :

1st Gen subaru

"The Subaru Impreza is a compact automobile that has been manufactured since 1992 by Subaru. Subaru introduced the Impreza as a replacement for the Leone, with the Leone's EA series engines replaced by the newer EJ series versions."

1st Gen vw polo

"From inception to the latest model, a timeline of the popular Volkswagen Polo.

Compact and stylish, the Polo is easily one of the most versatile and popular hatchback models released by Volkswagen. First released in 1975, the VW Polo has undergone at least five facelifts during its lifetime and is currently available in a range of engine sizes and styles."

Since you just wanted to compare any subaru impreza and a polo, then I guess this is good enough.

Unless the Corolla you drove had a diesel gearbox, you would be doing considerably more than 4000 rpm at the car's maximum speed. 7ou would also have to define what "maxed out" means. What was the maximum speed indication on the speedo dial?

For reference, the average gasoline-engined car with a manual gearbox has an engine rpm of 3000 at an indicated 70 mph.

apologies bro...that wasn't my intent, I'm just trying to set something straight.

For someone jumping to conclusion to tag me a German fan boy who can't argue with verified facts.

I'm a car enthusiast, I love this thread and definitely learnt a lot from here.

from d picture i posted i had an engine rpm of about 4000 doing approx 170km/h. when i hit 180km/h (maximum indicated speed on the speedo of the corolla) i was still doing slightly less than 5000 rpm.

true. Same thing I did with my 05 corolla. The rpm was below 4 at 100mph

But reading through this, I agree. The second paragraph says otherwise

I doubt you achieved this on that road cos I know this road very well, cos there are a handful of corners, you'd hit a corner before you climb 160km/hr. Sango to Ifo is a busy road with lots of pothole, Ifo through arigbajo to Papa has about four corners with uneven road. Then you have ewekoro, itori, wasimi. You start hitting corners from itori till you get to Aro psychiatric hospital.

If you said you did this enroute benin-asaba, I'd doubt not
I understand what u meant sir, I meant lag abeokuta/shagamu road. And d SL500 could make 100km/h in 6secs, so making 260 ws within 18secs sir. Thkz for ur comment.

I last saw this car in Sweden back in 2010. I believe this car is yet to be beaten, as at 2014, it still held the European record as the fastest steel-bodied, road-legal car.

That's 1300hp for you.

Make: Audi.
Model: 90 Quattro.
Model year: 1985.
Engine: 2.2 (2226cc) I5 DOHC 20V Turbo.
Power: 1300hp.
Drive: Permanent AWD with lockable centre and rear differential.
Transmission: 5-speed 016 manual gearbox.

165 km/hr along Onitsha owerri road. Skoda Octavia 1,9tdi. couldn't go any further and I was a bit disappointed. seems I have issues with diesel filter or my can lobes are worn. performed the lobe wear test and it pulled through the revs easily so should not be that.
