Politics / Re: History Of The Ikwerre People By Professor Eric Amadi by Abagworo(m): 11:17pm On Jul 22 |
chrisxxx: First of all there is no DNA study that can establish any difference between Ikwerre and Igbo because they are the same people. The difference can only be noticeable if you do DNA say between Ikwerre and Nsukka but it will still be negligible. 2ndly the problem some Igbos like me have is not in the rights of Ikwerre to ethnic distinctness but rather the lie about Ikwerre history which has been persistently told from 1971 till date which must be corrected for the sake of future generations who might believe the lies as truth. The Akalaka history never mentioned Ihuruoha at all but rather Ekpeye and Ogba. Ihuruoha was attached later and till date is struggling to stick. People can originate from same place, share same history but grow into different ethnic groups as seen in the case of Ekpeye and Ogba. When you visit the real history of the Owerri area or Uratta/Ikwerre area their legend circles around 2 figures of Oha and Ochie whose origin is vague and unknown but from whence emerged the groups who sailed through Otamiri river settling through it's extensive territories in groups. These groups are todays Uratta now called Owerri, Etche and Ikwerre with other smaller groups that form parts of the group like Ohaji, Ngor, Okpala and Omuma. The same Oha descendants also traveled beyond Otamiri to Imo river bank now called Ohuhu while the ones that crossed over to Aba area towards Ibibio territory are today called Ngwa. If Ikwerre has grown and evolved into a recognized distinct ethnic group it should be respected and every emphasis must be layed on that point but rewriting history will always generate controversy. 1 Like |

Politics / Re: History Of The Ikwerre People By Professor Eric Amadi by Abagworo(m): 9:14am On Jul 22 |
Ikwerre root origin is Oha from Owerri while the ethnic group was established by Okpo Wagidi from Arochukwu who brought together the 7 different village groups to agree as one Ikwerre. Ikwerre as a name originates from that agreement as Ikwerre Asaa/Esaa or agreement of 7. Okpo Wagidi was a warlike Aro man aided by fierce warriors from Abam in Abia State. The Kalabari knows this history very well as he also established relationship with the Kalabaris. Each of the 7 group of villages that founded Ikwerre have their own history of origin. The Emohua area had migrations from Ekpeye in addition to earlier settlers while the Ikwerre and Obio/Akpor area had migrations from Etche, Imo and Abia States in addition to earlier migrations. Ihuru Oha means face of the people. 4 Likes |

Spy360: Is it not clear that the 1967 genocide against Igbos was instigated using false media strategy as being employed today? No matter how Igbos distant themselves from the protest they will always use the media to blame Igbos for everything. Can't you see how they trued to hinge Buhari government's policies on Emefiele because he's Igbo and then turn around to pretend they believe Emefiele's people aren't Igbo? Until Nigeria stops the use of Ndigbo as alibi or scapegoat our development will remain very far. |

Politics / Re: Nationwide Protest: Peter Obi, Obidients' Planning Mayhem In Nigeria - Onanuga by Abagworo(m): 12:31pm On Jul 20 |
I don't think Peter Obi or even Obedients are behind the protest because the hunger in the country is too much especially in the North. Nigerians generally believe Tinubu Government created the hardship and to me it is right because the level of inflation, food shortage and hike in prices of transport and services increased immediately Tinubu was sworn in May 29th, 2023. Only a highly educated man can understand the explanation about subsidy removal and floating of Naira as a right economic decision for real stability but to the average man on the streets the only economic decision that is right is the one that makes life easier and affordable for him. 2 Likes |

This thread is a reminder of how myopic individuals always fall for same bait over and over. All the things he promised on that tweet are 5 times worse. All foods are almost 8 times their price compared with the time this thread was created and Dollar has appreciated 500% compared with the 300 Naira of that time. 1 Like |

The best and most patriotic President Nigeria ever had. He had his flaws but he chose the best economic team and defence team without nepotism which resulted in Nigeria's short lived prosperity through the 2000s. Good health in old age is a good reward from God. |

More insecurity brewing from politics. Edo was peaceful all these years but recently overridden by cult related murders which may not be unconnected with the dirty politics of Nigeria. To me Ighodalo should be allowed to win for sake of equity in the State so that the Esan ethnic nation have their turn at Governorship . |

Mondays - Fridays, you will not find 10% of the staff of the LG in council. They don't come, my name is Ayo Fayose, I want them to dispute this. This is undisputable fact right there. Nigeria's corruption starts from local governments and involves the villagers not even the Council Chairmen or Governors. The villagers force politicians to put family members on payroll without work. |
