Phones / NEXUS Leak:check Out Google’s Nexus 5 Photo And Specification Seemingly Revealed by alhaji000(m): 7:52am On Sep 07, 2013
Google’s Nexus 5 leaked earlier this week when Google accidentally included a shot of it in a promotional video for Android 4.4 KitKat. Now, it appears that the phone has passed through the FCC’s approval process and the FCC has published various details as a result. Plenty of information is covered in the various documents published by the FCC, but the most important details include confirmation that the handset is built by LG and also, of course, some Nexus 5 specs.

According to documents published on Thursday by the FCC, the Nexus 5 carries the model number D820 and it will include Qi wireless charging support. Other Nexus 5 specs include a Snapdragon 800 processor, a 5-inch display and a 7-band LTE radio compatible with both AT&T and T-Mobile 4G LTE. It will also include Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and dual-band 802.11 b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi.

Earlier reports suggest the Nexus 5′s specs will also include a 13-megapixel rear camera, 2GB or 3GB of RAM, a 2,700 mAh battery and of course Android 4.4 KitKat, and Google is expected to release the phone toward the end of October.

Some photos of various Nexus 5 parts follow below along with a pair of screenshots that confirm various Nexus 5 specs.

Phones / PHOTO: Lines Already Forming Outside Apple Store Ahead Of Iphone 5S, 5C Launch by alhaji000(m): 7:21am On Sep 07, 2013
It wouldn’t be an Apple launch without a ridiculously early lineup. MacRumors snapped a photo on Friday of campers who have already situated themselves in front of the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue in New York, waiting patiently for the rumored September 20th launch date.

This time, the line has started even before Apple’s media event to announce the new iPhones, but there’s already plenty of evidence that the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C hardware has begun to arrive on U.S. shores.

There’s no telling how long this line will get as the release date approaches later this month, but if you’re going to get your iPhone on Fifth Avenue, you might want to invest in a sleeping bag this week.

The photo from MacRumors can be found below.

Phones / 'cell Phone Cooking Stove' Invented In Liberia by alhaji000(m): 10:57am On Jan 04, 2013
A Liberian Business man, Mr. Louis K. Teakleh has invented a new technology named “The cell phone cooking stove.”

Explaining the usage of the cooking cell phone stove to the analyst in an exclusive interview on Monday, December 31, 2012, Mr. Teakleh noted that the stove saves time.

He continued, “When you are about to leave from home, package the cooker. Place the raw rice in its compartment, the require quantity of water in its compartment as well, place another ingredient into the pot which should already be on the stove.”

“When you are ready to instruct the cooker to start the cooking process, just dial the cell number you assigned to it. The cooker has an inbuilt system that would respond to you whenever you make a dial, irrespective of your location. In other words, the stove will automatically switch itself on,” he narrated.

The pot will open immediately upon dialing the stove assigned number, the pot will open immediately, and water will pour into the cooking chamber of the pot via a special value and quantity following which it will close.

The Scientist averred, “When the water boils, the cooking chamber will open for the second time, allowing the pouring of raw rice into the pot, following which it closes for cooking to be done. The system automatically turns off as soon as the food is ready for consumption or well cooked. Following this process, one will meet a hot and well prepared food upon returning home. The system works with 22o volt electricity.

The inventor used riles, metal, steel, ordinary stove and a Sim Card and a few other electronic device to build the new technology.

It cost the Scientist US$800.00 to build the exciting new technology which is arguably the first of its kind on Plant Earth.

Mr. Teakleh, age 50, ventured into inventing the new unprecedented cooking machine so as to ease the stress working class people experience in getting a home meal, despite being tire.

The Scientist, a father of three children took six years to complete the exciting kitchen utensil.

He is a student at the University of Liberia (UL) Master of Business Administration Graduate School.

Mr. Teakleh is a former employee of the erstwhile Liberia telecommunication Communication (LTC).

In 1988, he completed a two year International Telecommunication Union (ITU) electronics training in Liberia.

Computers / Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates Is The World's Richest Tech Mogul. by alhaji000(m): 11:49pm On Jan 03, 2013
A look at Bloomberg's Billionaires Index shows a bump in wealth last year for a number of the usual suspects among technology leaders.

It's said that the rich get richer. And that's certainly true at the moment in the tech world.

Grabbing Bloomberg's No. 2 spot among the world's top billionaries, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates has an estimated worth of $63.4 billion as of yesterday.

Despite donating a hefty amount of money to charitable causes, Gates' net worth managed to rise 1.1 percent over the past year, making him the richest tech mogul on the list.

Worth $40.7 billion, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison saw a 3.6 percent gain in his fortune last year. The largest chunk of his wealth comes from his 23.5 percent share of Oracle, according to Bloomberg, though he also owns a 49 percent slice of software company NetSuite.

Amazon chief Jeff Bezos took the No. 20 spot with a net worth of $24.1 billion, a 2.4 percent gain from a year ago. Google's Larry Page is worth $21.8 billion, while fellow co-founder Sergey Brin has a fortune of $21.6 billion, both up 1.9 percent from last year.

The owner of India's Wipro, Azim Premji, is worth $15.8 billion. Other tech players on the list include Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen with $14.4 billion to his name, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer with $14.2 billion, and Dell CEO Michael Dell with $13.3 billion.

And despite the weak performance of Facebook's post-IPO stock, CEO Mark Zuckerberg saw his net worth rise by 5.1 percent from a year ago to $12.9 billion.

So who's No. 1 on the list? Worth $76.4 billion, Mexican mogul Carlos Slim Helu is the world's richest person with stakes in telecommunications, banking, mining, and several individual companies.

Sports / Twitter War - Nigeria Football Captain Joseph Yobo Hits Back At Peter Odemwingie by alhaji000(m): 5:08pm On Dec 29, 2012
Nigeria captain Joseph Yobo has lashed out at Peter Odemwingie for being disrespectful after the West Bromwich Albion striker said the country does not have a team leader.

Odemwingie said via Twitter that recent Eagles captains have only looked out only for themselves and so the team lack a leader.

Yobo has now hit back at his national teammate, who was sensationally dropped from the squad for next month's Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa

"Osaze has been reckless, disrespectful to most people. He's not a kid, he should grow up because we cannot continue to baby sit him. He is responsible for his problems," Yobo told Lagos radio Brila FM on Friday.

"This is not the first time he has been disrespectful. He is fighting all the coaches and at the World Cup he also disrespected me and he later apologised.

"He is not the (Lionel) Messi or (Cristiano) Ronaldo of Nigeria. He should look himself in the mirror."

The Fenerbache star gave credit to coach Stephen Keshi for the provisional squad he picked for the AFCON, while admitting that he was surprised Obafemi Martins, Osaze, Taye Taiwo and Kalu Uche were not considered.

"I will give him credit for the squad. He will score 95 percent even though one or two should have been there," said the former Everton defender.

"I'm sure he would have had some sleepless nights in selecting his team. Kalu Uche, Martins, Taye and Osaze not being there was a surprise but the coach must have his reasons and he cannot call everybody."

Yobo also admitted that at 32 this is most likely his last AFCON.

"I think I have to admit it that this may be my last Nations Cup. We have to allow younger players to get their chance," said the central defender, who has featured in five Nations Cups.

Webmasters / Top Ten Most Viewed Article On English Wikipedia In 2012 by alhaji000(m): 10:08am On Dec 28, 2012
What people searched for on the Web encyclopedia this past year was mostly to be expected — like actors, musicians, and world events — but there were a few oddball entries too.

English speakers seem to be interested in action movies, boy bands, and Facebook.

New stats compiled by Swedish software engineer Johan Gunnarsson detail the top 100 most-viewed articles on Wikipedia over the past year.

The online encyclopedia doesn’t create its own year-end list but does let people read its log files, according to AllThingsD. This top 100 list compiled by Gunnarsson, which comes in several languages, is the first time users can see Wikipedia’s most popular articles over the course of a year.

For the English language Wikipedia, which is the most popular version of the site, “Facebook” won as the most viewed article, with more than 32.5 million visits. “Wiki” came in second, with more than 29.5 views, and “Deaths in 2012″ was third, with almost 25.5 views.

According to AllThingsD, Gunnarsson gives a couple of explanations for why Facebook is No. 1. First is that people may be interested in popular Web properties, and second, users type in Facebook and mistakenly go to Wikipedia instead of the social-networking site.

Among the other top 10 most viewed pages were those for the boy band One Direction and for action movies, including “The Avengers,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” and “The Hunger Games.”

Looking more broadly — in the top 100 — people were interested in all sorts of different topics, from sex to World War II to Steve Jobs. There are definite patterns with pop culture icons, like Justin Bieber and Rihanna, and movies and TV shows, like “The Amazing Spiderman” and “Game of Thrones.” A few oddballs include the word “elocution,” the phrase “2012 phenomenon,” and a page about human penis size.

Programming / How To Make Yourself Or Data Unhackable by alhaji000(m): 5:27pm On Dec 23, 2012
Computer and online security is a game of cat and mouse. Stay one step ahead of the cat by protecting yourself with these helpful tips.

Ok, so maybe “unhackable” is a bit strong. It’s impossible to ever truly be bulletproof online. But don’t let that stop you from protecting yourself; there many easy ways to keep your online accounts, Wi-Fi network, PC, and mobile devices secure – and that’s exactly what you should do.

Here are a few key things we should all have off our checklists in order to keep the bad guys (or bad software) from sneaking into our machines and wreaking havoc on our lives.

=>Usernames and passwords

When crafting a username for online bank accounts or other sensitive services, don’t use the most obvious choices. That means, don’t use your name, any version of your name, your dog’s name, or any version of a family member’s name – all that information is likely readily available on the Web. And don’t use any username that you’ve employed for other accounts. Instead, use something that you’ve never used anywhere else online.

Passwords may be an antiquated way to protect our online accounts. But right now, they are the only option for most online accounts and gadgets. To craft a good password (which most people don’t do) it must be complex – lower-case and capital letters, numbers, and symbols are a must. I would suggest creating an acronym for your favorite phrase, then throwing symbols and your zip code or part of your childhood phone number at the end.

For example, turn the phrase “We mean no harm to your planet” into “WMnHtYP.” Then add in a symbol or two: WMnHtYP*$. And finally, your selected number, to give you the full password: WMnHtYP*$5172. Now, do that for each of your online accounts, including apps and iTunes or other online market places.

Of course, that’s a lot to remember, and writing down passwords can be just as dangerous if there’s a chance your password document falls into the wrong hands. Another option is to use a password manager app, like LastPass or 1Password, which does much of the hard work for you.

=>Wireless router

If you connect to the Internet over Wi-Fi, you need to make sure you have a secure connection. The first step is to password protect your router. (Each router is different; so if you don’t know how to do this, look up the instructions for doing so online.) And as mentioned above, make sure it’s a good password – the more complicated the better.

The next step is to turn off “broadcasting” of your network. This will make it so your Wi-Fi router doesn’t show up in other people’s lists of available connections. Most routers have this feature, which can be accessed through the router’s management software. (You can probably download this, if you don’t have it installed.) From there, you want to turn off the option that says “Enable SSID Broadcast” (or something like that). And you’re done!

Finally, you can stay extra secure by downloading network monitoring software like Fing, which allows you to check if anyone is on your Wi-Fi connection who’s not supposed to be.

=>Computer

We’ve all heard of antivirus software by now, so we don’t need to get into the nitty gritty of that. But you do need to install one, if you haven’t already. And then you need to keep it running.

Malwarebytes is one of the best options out there, with both a free and paid version available. (Though, at $25, I’d recommend going for the Pro version.) Another good option is Bitdefender Total Security 2013, which will cost you about $52 right now, but has a slew of features that protect everything from your home PC to your social media accounts to your online bank accounts and more.

Note to Mac users: Cybersecurity experts predict that Macs will be increasingly targeted by hackers and malware in 2013, so don’t think you’re safe just because you have an Apple-made machine. You need antivirus software, too.

=>Smartphone or tablet

While not as vulnerable as a Windows PC, smartphones and tablets are still susceptible to viruses. Luckily for us, there are an increasing number of antivirus products out there for our mobile devices.

For Android, check out either Avast! Mobile Security, or Lookout Security & Anti-virus.

For iOS, your options are more limited, but VirusBarrier is a good, inexpensive option.

=>General don’ts

While software is a must-have, there’s a lot you can do to protect yourself just by creating good habits.

Here are a few tips:

1)Never use the same password across multiple accounts. It’s hard to do, but failing to do this makes it possible for a hacker to gain access to a multitude of your accounts, and ruin your life more easily.

2)Don’t fill out online questionnaires or quizzes that ask for information like your date of birth, hometown, mother’s maiden name, or other data that is often used for security questions.

3)When filling out a security question (in case of a lost password, for example), don’t give an easy answer. For instance, if the question is “What is the name of your first pet?” Don’t just write “Rover.” Write “Rover451″ or some other variant.

4)Don’t click ads on porn sites – they are one of the primary ways malware is spread.

Computers / Five(5) Steps To Revitalize Your IT Skill Set by alhaji000(m): 3:07pm On Dec 23, 2012
There are a number of things that you can do to update your skill set and reestablish your professional marketability. I don’t know your specific technical specialty, so I’ll try to make my suggestions applicable to technical jobs in general.

1. Do your research: Your first step is to gain an understanding of what exactly has changed in your technical area. If your specialty is related to using a software package, then find out what has changed architecturally and functionally within the software package. Alternatively, if you are in the datacom side of the house, identify what new hardware devices have entered the market and what enhancements have been made to existing hardware and its related software.

2. Pick your battles: With your research complete, divide the technology changes you found into two primary categories; first, technologies you really want to dig into and learn, and second, technologies you just want to be cognizant of so you can speak intelligently about them during an interview. After all, you can’t become an expert in everything. Note that when choosing which technologies you truly want to learn, consider the accessibility you will have when trying to learn the technology.

3. Find access to selected technology: In many cases, the hardest part of studying a technology is gaining access to it in a way that it can be studied. That said, if your selected technology is free to attain or inexpensive to purchase you’re all set and off to the races. If, however, this is not the case, here are few tips on how to gain this access:

=>If your technology is software based, call the vendor, explain your situation, and ask if you can have access to a cloud-based test region of their software.

=>Call your old employer, explain that you are trying to update your skills and ask to work on the technology free for a month or two. The company will get free labor. You will get professional-level experience with the technology and recent work experience, thus illustrating your reentrance to the work force. Also, who knows, after some volunteer work your old employer may offer you a job.

=>Find a local non-profit organization using the technology, explain your situation, and offer to work there part time free until you find a paying job. In return, you want flexible hours so you can interview as needed, the ability to work your selected technology, and a professional reference if they think you did good work. Also, as an additional benefit, you are helping the world by providing value to a local charity.

4. Formulate a study plan: Once you have access to your technology, create a detailed list of all the things you would like to learn. Note that, in addition to learning the new features, this is also your opportunity to learn things about the technology that existed prior to three years ago but you never had the need/occasion to use. Lastly, having not used the technology for three years or so it may be worthwhile to also spend a little time refreshing your previously known skills.

5. Find free stuff: When not working hands-on on the technology, look for free sources of study materials. It’s amazing these days what you can find on the internet. There may be free white papers, YouTube videos, blogs, discussion boards, and other valuable information right at your fingertips waiting to be accessed. Note that these free internet-based information sources can also help you gain a general understanding of the technologies you wanted to be cognizant of but were not selected as your primary area of study.

Now that you are spending all this time reacquainting and expanding your knowledge in a specific area, target your job search toward opportunities using that technology. After all, not only are you in the process of retooling your skills in that area, but you also have a great story to tell prospective employers about your retooling process. It shows your commitment to your profession, your ability to formulate and execute a plan, your self-starting nature, and your willingness to work hard toward a specific goal.

In closing, good luck and best wishes in your job search and career development.

Most recently, RIM’s Dev Alpha B smartphone running BB10 was spotted crushing the iPhone 5 on iOS 6 and HTC Windows Phone 8X running Windows Phone 8 in a Web browser speed and rendering comparison test.

All RIM needs to do now is deliver compelling hardware and apps to sway users who have long since abandoned BlackBerrys for iPhones and DROIDS.

FC Barcelona will face AC Milan in a rematch of the 1994 UEFA Champions League final while Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Manchester United FC for the first time following today's round of 16 draw in Nyon, Switzerland.

Round of 16 draw

Galatasaray AŞ (TUR) vs FC Schalke 04 (GER)

The ceremony was conducted by UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino and UEFA director of competitions Giorgio Marchetti, assisted by final ambassador Steve McManaman, a two-time winner of this tournament with Real Madrid.

His former employers will travel to Old Trafford – where Ronaldo scored many of his 118 goals in 292 appearances for the Red Devils before leaving for the Santiago Bernabéu in a world-record €94m deal in 2009 – for the second leg in March, with the first instalment taking place in Spain the previous month.

Elsewhere, Paris Saint-Germain FC, whose 15-point haul was the highest in the group stage, will tackle Valencia CF and Celtic FC play Juventus. Galatasaray AŞ meet FC Schalke 04, whose fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund take on FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

Phones / Nigeria Now Hits 109.4m Active Phone Users Says NCC by alhaji000(m): 7:21am On Dec 20, 2012
Nigeria gained another 2 million mobile users in 3 months, giving it 109.4 million by the end of October this year.

According to data released by The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), active telephone subscriptions increased from 107.3 million active lines in September to reach 109.4 million at the end of October.

Most of the subscriber gains were in the mobile space – CDMA and fixed wired and wireless network operators recorded declines in already-small user bases.

NCC figures indicate that Nigeria now has a teledensity of 78.21%.

Religion / Iran’s Supreme Leader Joins Great Satan’s No. 1 Social Network by alhaji000(m): 10:32am On Dec 18, 2012
Last summer Iran’s Ayatollah Ali Khamenei opened an Instagram account. Now he’s on Facebook.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, also known as Iran’s Supreme Leader, is turning into quite the social butterfly, so to speak. Over the summer, Khamenei joined Instagram, and now it appears Iran’s most powerful person is on Facebook as well.

The page went live December 13 and so far has been liked by nearly 5,000 users. Hat tip to Brian Fung at the Atlantic for the pointer.

Phones / List Of Seven Worst Phones Of 2012 (pictures & Reason) by alhaji000(m): 10:03am On Dec 18, 2012
Hundreds of Phones were released this year by different company. But not all were best for use or good for the end users.

ICTCatalogue.com compiled together a list of top worst phones release in 2012.

Number 1: PCD Chaser(Virgin Mobile)

Why we consider PCD Chaser as a worst phone in 2012 was its abysmal battery life. More specifically, it was basically nonexistent. Its slow internal speeds didn’t do it any favors, either.

Number 2: ZTE Score M (MetroPCS)

Glacial ZTE Score M is a very slow mobile phone.it has a distracting amount of bloatware. In addition, its mediocre screen’s narrow viewing angle also didn’t help out.

Number 3:Sony Xperia Ion (AT&T)

As the most high-tech phone of the bunch, we were surprised that the Sony Xperia Ion shipped natively with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. And though it has a 12-megapixel camera, its photo quality didn’t impress us.

Number 4:]Huawei Verge (MetroPCS)

We’re all about simple feature phones, but the Huawei Verge took simplicity and threw it off a cliff. Not to mention, its 1-megapixel camera is poor and its Web browser is tedious.

Number 5: Pantech Swift (AT&T)

Though cute, the Pantech Swift, complete with a QWERTY keyboard, has an irritatingly slow processor inside and an unresponsive touch screen.

Number 6: Samsung Brightside (Verizon)

Frankly, we couldn’t see a bright side with the Samsung Brightside. Its less than stellar camera, laggy CPU, and poor screen resolution were all enough to convince us that there is no silver lining.

Number 7: Pantech Hotshot (Verizon)

Despite its name, the Pantech Hotshot is lukewarm at best. it has a very slow internal speed but If you can deal with its slow internal speeds, good luck with its laggy data speeds and unresponsive screen

Art, Graphics & Video / How To Create A Playlist With Youtube's New Ipad App by alhaji000(m): 8:51pm On Dec 11, 2012
Google finally got around to releasing a YouTube app for the iPad, and after using it for a few days, I applaud the search giant’s efforts.

The app feels quick and responsive, and all of the basic features — accessing your account, commenting on videos, subscribing to channels, AirPlay support — are present. (The ability to play audio of a video in the background after closing the app, however, is not.)

The app also lets you create playlists, but this feature is somewhat buried. In this post, I’ll show you where to go to create a playlist and how to add and remove videos.

If you tap on the Playlists button from the YouTube app’s main menu that runs along the left edge of the screen, you’ll see your playlists but you won’t find a button to create a new playlist.

To create a playlist, you will first need to find a video to start off that playlist. When you are watching a video, you’ll find an Add to Playlist button hidden behind the share button.

The share button sits below a video when viewing in regular mode, and it sits above a video when viewing in full-screen mode.

When you tap the Add to Playlist button, you can scroll through your list of playlists and select one to add it to, or you can select Create a New Playlist to have it be the first video in a new playlist.

o remove a video from a playlist, you’ll need to tap on your name below the Account header in the left-hand menu to expand the menu items.

From the expanded menu options, tap on the Playlists button to view your various playlists.

Tap on a playlist to expand it and then tap the Edit button hiding in the upper-right corner.

Now in edit mode, you can tap the small red button to the left of a video to summon a Delete button to the right.

One thing you can’t do with the app, at least to my knowledge, is delete an entire playlist. For such a maneuver, you will need to access YouTube via a browser, Safari on your iPad included.

Alternatively, you could try Jasmine, a slick and free third-party YouTube app for the iPad. It stands out for its ability to play videos in the background — good for music playlists when you are otherwise engaged with other apps on your iPad.

Phones / Twelve(12) Best And Free Android App For This Week by alhaji000(m): 7:52am On Dec 11, 2012
It’s time for ICTCatalogue.com roundup of new Android apps, and from this week we’re making some changes: games will be included in the post, rather than being hived off in their own multi-platform article.

That means we should be able to offer a list of 10 new apps every week, while keeping the quality high. This week’s is certainly a cracking selection, showing the innovation that’s happening on Android at the moment.

Here’s this week’s roundup:

Etsy (free)

Crafty commerce site Etsy has a thriving community of buyers and sellers online, as well as on iOS. Now its app is available on Android too, providing a window into its catalogue of 17m+ items for sale. A clean and elegant design keeps the focus firmly on the items.

Heroes of Order & Chaos (free)

Gameloft’s Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA – a genre you’ll be hearing more about on smartphones and tablets in 2013) game sees you forming gangs for fantasy battling, in a world based on the company’s existing World of Warcraft-like Order & Chaos Online game. Expect heroes, monsters and upgrades a-plenty.

Top Gear SSR (free)

Top Gear Stunt School Revolution has been a hit on iOS, and now it’s available on Android too. It’s a driving game based (loosely) on the BBC series, meaning the emphasis is on eye-popping stunts, often with a dash of the surreal.

Snapseed (free)

Photo-sharing app Snapseed’s developer Nik Software was acquired by Google earlier this year, making this (sort of) Google’s in-house rival to Instagram. By which I mean taking and sharing photos while applying visual filters and borders, with a strong tie-in to the Google+ social network.

Candy Crush Saga (free)

King.com’s Candy Crush Saga has been a huge hit on Facebook, and recently made the leap to iOS. Now it’s on Android too, albeit in beta – so don’t be surprised if you spot the odd bug. The gameplay sees you matching sweets over more than 100 levels, with social features high in the mix to compare your efforts to your friends.

Clay Jam (free)

In what’s already looking like another good month for Android gaming, Clay Jam is the latest title from Zynga, through its publishing deal with developer Fat Pebble. It’s a claymation-style action game that sees you rolling and bouncing the hero down a series of hills. The visuals make it stand out from the crowd, but the gameplay delivers on this promise too.

Zenonia 5 (free)

Gamevil’s Zenonia has become one of the biggest and best mobile-only RPG franchises over the last couple of years, with this fifth iteration deserving to win even more fans round. It has a huge world to explore, more monsters than you can shake a stick/sword/spell at, and global player-versus-player match-ups for a social spin.

23snaps – Family Photo Book (free)

More photo-sharing, but this time with a focus on families. It’s an app designed to help parents share snaps of their kids with family and close friends, as an alternative to slapping them up on Facebook (although, if you’re on top of your group settings, it’s possible there too). This beta app works very well though, with its value as much about browsing back through the photos later, as the actual sharing at the time.

McAfee SafeKey (free)

Something more serious here: a tool from security firm McAfee to help you remember your passwords for various sites. It requires a licence to use the McAfee All Access Security service, mind.

Moleheart (free)

This is another game from Korean publisher Gamevil, promising “defence gaming on a whole different level”. So yes, tower defence – a crowded genre on Android already – but with RPG-style levelling up and skills for your characters to give the action a twist.

Sync.ME -Facebook Contact Sync (Free)

This is a simple but potentially useful app to pull down photos and information from your contacts’ Facebook profiles, including their latest status updates, which can be handy when calling someone you haven’t seen in a while.

Insta Moments-Note Everything (Free)
Insta Moments makes big promises: “A perfect and beautiful way to note everything & organize your personal notepad … A step ahead from Evernote.” Tough to deliver on, but this has some interesting features, from diary dates to social sharing.
