how difficult can it be answer a question? What are you scared of?

Btw, bringing up Jesus, it was God's will that a man be killed. I presume you would have stopped the Aluu4 beating if you had the chance, wouldn't you?
There is much more to this world and the processes within it than just the physical, quit being so myopic please. Problem is you judge everything based on what you see or feel but there is so much you dont know happening in the spiritual realm. For example, when a young fellow dies and everybody is crying and emotions run free, maybe the person's purpose in life has already been met thus no need staying in this sinful world any longer. Perhaps the person's mission was to touch 5 lives and once that has been achieved there is no need hanging around much longer. Perhaps the dude is with the Lord in heaven while you are here in this sinful world having pity on him for dying when he should be the one pitying you for still being hooked up in this sinful world. But you wouldnt know or would you?

Point is dont call God a wicked God or say there is no God simply because you see people suffering and dying in this world, there is a reason for everything which always leads to a greater good.

Get wisdom sir!

Dear Trader,

Small market movements matter. That’s why on Monday, 8 April 2013, we’re changing the minimum gold and silver price increment from 1 US cent to 0.1 US cent (USD0.010 to USD0.001) on the MetaTrader 4 platform. This way you can benefit from smaller price moves quicker while at the same time receiving tighter spreads, better execution and more price updates.

What does this mean?

This means that the minimum price increment for gold (XAUUSD) and silver (XAGUSD) will be USD0.001. For example, after the change, the XAUUSD price movement would be 1603.201, 1603.202, 1603.203 etc.

Please be aware that if you want to match exact instant execution price, you may experience re-quotes. Therefore we’d advise you to set up deviation in your trading platform to 50 when trading gold or silver.

What about profit and loss calculation?

Profit and loss will be calculated using standard mathematical rounding. For example, if your profit or loss from a trade is 3.1 US cents, it will be rounded down to 3.0 US cents. If your profit or loss is 3.5 US cents, it will be rounded up to 4.0 cents.

^^^ Buying those domain names may actually be a smart business move as I anticipate those versions of Nairaland popping up at some point in the future.

If Nairaland is the most visited Nigerian website in Nigeria, then I want to believe it's the most visited African website in Africa due to our mind-boggling population.

And regarding your last paragraph, yes we dont hear much of western firms acquiring African firms but I'm sure we'll get there someday not too far from now. Also, since geography is not an issue in this particular case, a western site acquiring a Nigerian site should be quite easy.

Again pray for wisdom then you will find yourself not needing to ask such questions.

^^^ Your first paragraph is on point; you are very right about Americans spending so so much on politics especially during elections with all those Super Pacs willing to spend tens of millions of dollars to promote a candidate or party.

As regards the language barrier in Africa, all an angel investor or venture capitalist needs do is launch a french version of the site. Since the site is already a powerful brand in the anglophone countries, people in the francophone countries should easily buy into it once a french version is made available.

As per internet access, yes Africa is still emerging but emerging fast.

Regarding your last paragraph, I believe many angel investors will be willing to buy such a site with the intention of taking it public or reselling to much larger websites. Very large websites/companies buy smaller ones all the time once there is any way the smaller one could help promote the bigger one. Google acquired youtube; Facebook acquired instagram; microsoft acquired skype, the list is endless. Remember Nairaland is the biggest website in Africa so it should appeal to much larger websites or companies as a means of expanding their presence in Africa.

Solozzo:

If God exist he does not care about your relationship with anyone or himself. What you are experiencing when u "get close to God" is a subjective psychological feeling of relaxation which you can get from any deep social relationship.. Why does he allow you suffer, die? Why does disasters accident still happen to the worshippers.. Such a being as described in religious books is not based on facts but myths. nobody knows anything about him and such a belief does not gurantee peace and happiness or morality.

But if belief in the myth of God helps your life psychologically then go on!
I pray God gives you wisdom so you do away with this ignorance.

You have spoken well... but most of what you've said would be useful to an African firm or Nigerian firm.. Personally i would rather acquire a popular US forum instead of Nairaland because I believe I would gain more from US political parties, US companies like Apple and Microsoft parting with heavy sums and US ads. What do you think?
Yes more ads revenue will be generated in the U.S and that's why I talked about linking NL to foreign fora. But as regards making money off politicians, I think that's more realizable in Nigeria given the fact that our politicians have all sorts of skeletons in their cupboards, plus the fact that Nigerian politicians are more hell-bent on running down their opponents.

Think of a foreign company trying to make entry into the Nigerian market, acquiring NL would be an extremely effective way of reaching out to milllions of Nigerian youths and by so doing gain access to the largest market in Africa.

I really think a foreign firm trying to make inroads into the largest market in Africa would be making a wise decision by acquiring NL. A firm or a website may also be acquired with the intention of reselling it with profit after a while.

kramer:

Yes you're right, but the target market is still the same... What will a US company do with the attention of 16 to 40 year old Nigerians scattered across different continents?
The key word on this kind of business is traffic. The age range of the users is an advantage when you consider the fact that the internet mostly appeals to people of that age range (think of facebook, twitter, linkedin, etc). And the fact that they are scattered around the world is an advantage because it gives the site much needed international appeal.

Being the most visited website in Nigeria and arguably in Africa, there are loads of ways that the site can generate enormous cash flow when in the hand of people with "mad" business acumen. From linking it to some very big fora in Africa or some other foreign countries to using it to propagate the ideologies of certain political parties or even promote or smear certain politicians or establishments. Certain political parties, individuals and companies will be willing to part with whopping sums for the services of such a site. Then think of revenue from ads, and when the apps is created.

An experienced business wizard can turn such a site with such solid brand into a money making machine.

Go Market doesnt send money to Nigeria so how do you withdraw from the account? Only consider Go Market if you are not in Nigeria and has no plans of withrawing money to Nigeria. They are very very good though.

Ok guys, evidently I've just walked in on some advanced alien race plotting the enslavement of mankind!
Alright, I'm nelson.. Looking to obtain my NYSC discharge cert by july and currently faced with creating a platform for my financial independence... So far I ve been able to save some liTtle change from my monthly "allawii"... And now I want to invest in something before june gets here.. FOREX trading sounds like a good idea, but the problem is that I know next to nothing about how to even go about it, so I saw this thread and jumped in only to find everyone speaking in some language that sounds like english, but isn't.

So would any kind soul PLEASE enlighten this ignorant friend on how to go about forex trading. It would mean ThE WORLD to him. Thanks all
Dont even think of using your NYSC allowee for forex trading, you need a steady stream of income before getting yourself involved in fx trading because every good trader crashes at least their first five accounts - I crashed about 15 accounts in a spate of 5.5yrs before I eventually got it right. Now you get the picture?

Invest your allowee in some other business or in educating yourself. As for fx trading, you need at least 1yr of learning and training. Visit babypips.com for your first lesson.

webaplanet: 107 Year-Old Woman Seeks First Husband

Wang Guiying is a 107-year-old Chinese woman who takes things very slowly… even love.

Wang Guiying was born in southern Guizhou province, the child of a salt merchant. She grew up watching her uncles and other men scold and beat their wives and this made her fear marriage.

After Wang’s father, mother and older sister died, she still shied away from marriage and moved to the countryside where she survived as a farmer until she was 74 years old and no longer strong enough to work in the fields.

Now Wang has decided that it’s time to forget the past and take the bull by the horns, so to speak. She told the press that she hopes to find a fellow centenarian so they will have something to talk about.

She came to her decision because she was worried that she had become a burden to her aging nieces and nephews, especially since she was forced to stop helping with household chores since breaking her leg when she was 102.

“My nephews and nieces are getting older and their children are already tied up with their own families and I am becoming more and more of a burden. I’m already 107 and I still haven’t gotten married. What will happen if I don’t hurry up and find a husband?”

Good luck, Wang!
