Strata1716: Hello everyone At this point I’m beginning to think I am cursed or something as I am so confused and saddened.
I currently work as a band 5 in the NHS and after 4 months of hard work and rejections looking for a sponsored role, I got a band 7 offer project manager role. I noticed my contract said fixed so I messaged the HR asking why my contract isn’t permanent. I assumed I would be sponsored but I never brought this up with anyone. I got this response “ We can only offer you a fixed-term contract as you have an expiry date on your visa, once your visa expires you will need to give HR your new visa information and your contract will be renewed to the next expiry date on your visa, this will happen until you have permanent right to work in the UK”.
I have not asked them anything about sponsorship but the response has completely shattered me as I would be moving to another town for this role, my current job contract expires in August and I’ve been told renewal is possible.
I am confused on the next step of action to take, do I try to ask for sponsorship and risk the offer being withdrawn or do I accept the fixed term and risk not giving me myself enough time to look for a sponsored role. My visa expires next year November .
I really need help so I don’t make the wrong choice.

Can someone please point me to the right source/organization to get a caregiver job offering COS for a single male with some caregiver experience in Nigeria. All applications made online came back negative regarding sponsorship. Please any help will be appreciated, thank you. I can refer you to a company that will give you one for £7000 but no guarantee if it is revoked anytime. Your choice...Most companies are under investigation. If you want to gamble it, let me know |

Hmmm, that's not bad at all..
3 years also isn't bad. During that time, one should be able to get a better paying role
Thought its blanket for everyone regardless of where they're coming from. One last Q, does it apply to those in Tech and maybe HR also? I don't think the 3 years counts towards ILR 5 years route with another employer |

Those on student visas and post study are seen as new entrants into the labour market where new entrant rule applies. Salary threshold at 70% of 38700 which is 27k but only 3 years of COS And after the 3 years has elapsed and unable to get an extension, those 3 years won't count anymore towards 5 years ILR route once the person gets work visa in another company |

The aspect of visa renewal is still vague, I just feel for those on 2 or 3 years work visas. There was nothing stopping the govt to address that area immediately like the way the nhs aspect was quickly addressed. It's very obvious from the response that those on 2/3 years work visa won't be able to apply for their dependants at renewal because they said only 25% of dependants are working. 1 Like |

DeeOneBangin: Thanks to everyone for the advice and the bashing.
Even If I am able to get the new visa, I still wont start work until I release myself from the contract and serve my notice.
At least I'm happy that everyone here have seen that my employment contract has an exit/release clause, only my employer has refused to see this. Well I believe his lawyer will explain better to him.
My prospective employer is with the NHS and I have had this conditional offer for about 2 months. In between, I have been satisfying all pre employment checks ( verification of identity and documents, Nigerian police check, dbs, occupational health, etc).
HR has confirmed to me that it remains references and then we proceed to CoS which is why I told them to contact my referees.
Having said this, I have read everyone's opinions and views on the matter and I will act accordingly.
Nairaland family always come through. Thanks guys Please how did you go about the police clearance? I'm trying to get one |

nisah: Hello Nairalanders, going by the recent happenings in UK politics especially as it affect the office the Prime Minister, i have a feeling that the recent PMs (Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak) are not in the league of the likes of Margaret T, Tony B,Gordon B, Davis C. etc in terms of experience and expossure.
It appears to me that the level of experience of the recent crop of contenders to this office is far below the standard of those that were there 15 years and beyond.
However, one major positive out of this is that youths are bracing up and the country's politics is matured and working unlike here that we kept recycling old and expired politicians. |

MadeMen4Life: You are very right, those who don’t believe don’t have to believe. You might be earning £20 per hour as a carer if you work for an agency, depending on the type of agency you work for/your role… Got here December last year, started with an agency who was paying £11.5, felt the money wasn’t enough, moved to another agency paying £20 per hour on weekdays, £25 on weekends… Same Healthcare Job… Still heard about another agency that pay as high as £30 per hour but not currently recruiting HCA… Bottom line is, £11 per hour is really a small amount to some people even way before they came here…
All the best
Please what's the name of agency that pays you £20 per hour 1 Like |

Please I need advice here. I'm in Edinburg Scotland and since I came in here last month, it seems every Nigerians I met are into care assistant jobs.
I have done two shifts on the job and didn't like it but I was told that it's the easiest means to make money and pay the rest of my tuition.
Please is there any shift that it's not too stressful and have long hours that one can be doing here? It's just tiring taking care of residents that are either dependent or demented. 1 Like |

if that is the case, please don't vaccinate your kid for polio and the likes when they are born and say it is sign of the devil. i have no problem with your propagating the gospel at the beginning, i mean we cant have enough of that in this day and age until you turned the bible and word to a weapon of fear and threat, the word is supposed to bring calm, relieve and not induce fear, it is supposed to bring assurance to those that believe and not hypertension. I for one have not taking the vaccine not because i don't believe in covid or the vaccine but because a disease not fully understood already has a vaccine which has not be adequately tested hence the reason why i did not take it. I don't want to be a guinea pig and a statistic and not because i think they are scamming us. People like you are the reason people are looking for the downfall of the church. It seems Christianity in nigeria means suspension of your brain. Do you know a lot of Christians were also involved in looking for the cure and also vaccine for covid. Even though some of us believe covid is man made and was purposely distributed to infect the population, that does not mean the disease isn't real. people are dying from this every day and you are here using the bible to say rubbish. I prefer you say rubbish without using the bible as your defense. I hate and detest people who use the bible and the word to justify rubbish and stupidity and thereby bringing GOD and Christianity to more embarrassment. I tell people that what is happen in Ireland is as a result of the church not being upright and standing for the truth. In Ireland they protected and hide all does devilish priest who were molesting and raping kids, now the church has no mouth in that country again, they cannot even raise there head to counter any debate because the anger against them is still fresh in there memories. The church could not stand up to people who wanted to legalize abortion, gay rights and the likes. If we continue like this that is what Nigeria will turn EVENTUALLY. I REPEAT CHRISTIANILTY DOES NOT MEAN SUSPENSION OF YOUR BRAIN, GOD GAVE US THIS BRAIN TO THINK AND MAKE VALID DECISONS WITHIN THE CONFINE OF HIS WORD. Covid is a created viral disease which is yet to actualize it's purpose. The vaccine is the real purpose creating the virus to retweak people's DNA. People are playing into the agenda new world order 1 Like |
