Everything is black and white to you people. Who told you I am Amaechi's best pal? If you did not close your eyes you will notice that I consider the purchase of private jets by governors obscene!!! But I also consider building a banquet hall at Aso Rock for billions, and an edifice to Patience's avarice obscene. However, that is not the discussion here. People like you that see obvious misuse of power and wink at it for your own gain lead nations to their disaster. Nigeria is dying under this government - he promised to do something about this mess, but entered Aso Rock, shut the door and then came out worse than those that preceeded him. Tigerhead: Why is no one asking the so obvious question? When did this hater of GEJ and all things SS called Koruji become Amaechi's best pal? I have been laughing my head off in the last few days watching the haters almost all yoruba become the best friend of Amaechi who they all hated less than 3 months ago. 7 Likes |

You are obviously drunk with your own lies. "Every" thread where GEJ is mentioned? How many would that be now? It may seem to you like hate because you are enamored by power. I don't see the great Nigeria of my dreams under a GEJ presidency. I don't hate him - hate is a strong word and you need to stop using it. But I am going to speak my truth the way I see it. Basically, rather than be transformational, president GEJ is a run-of-the-mill Nigerian politician. It is even more annoying because his animal-farm-squealers deliberately come here to claim credit for him that is not his. Even when I give praise to GEJ, which I do when deserved, it is not enough for the praise-singers. Nobody else in Nigeria must receive part of the praise. It has to be absolute, complete, like praying to the almighty. Such a leader and his mouth-pieces lead their nations to disaster. Tigerhead: I find this koruji character amazing. He is on every thread where GEJ is mentioned sweating profusely in his attempt to convince people what a bad person GEJ is. Looking at this performance I have to wonder why this much effort? Are his sponsors getting worried that the veil of lies they weave is falling apart. Please just have a look at this characters last ten posts and tell me the desperation does not stare you in the face. |

Unfortunately for you, you are actually talking about GEJ here not Amaechi. The laws of the land doesn't stop Amaechi from aspiring to any political office. But the laws of the land bar GEJ from using state resources to prosecute a political fight. His bed in kirikiri will be extra hard if he keeps this silly autocracy up. pro01: Rotimi's problems are still at their infancy. I hope his case ends up worse than Sylva and Ibori combined. You are the one missing the point. If the Chinese were only meant to do construction what are they doing on the rehabilitation. It was part of a package - you are right that Abacha first awarded the contract for rehabilitating Nigeria's railways to the Chinese but nothing happened. OBJ built on that effort by recalling the Chinese and putting together a comprehensive contract making sure they started work, and then the Yar'adua/GEJ government came in and put a stop to everything. You are obviously right that the GEJ administration has done nothing on the reconstruction aspect - and if you recall my main original complaint was that jumping up and down over a train service that moves you at only about twice the speed of horseback riding is amusing. All I am saying is that this is not transformation, and that if you are going to praise GEJ for continuing the work, after being part of a government that stopped it in the first place, then OBJ who actually made sure work got started deserves part of that "pitiful" praise. You just like listening to yourself, don't you. When I said he was stealing state govt. allocations that is because he simply refused to pay them their full allocations so he could pay petrol subsidies - without asking their permission. Get it now? The FG only recently paid back those illegal deductions. About all the other projects you are talking about, what do you think is the excuse being made for the $9 billion I just mentioned to you. They are borrowing this money in the name "completing" road projects. Sincere 9gerian: |

Early in GEJ's administration I warned that this guy has the potential to be a sit-tight leader. This was because one of his first major acts in office, for someone who campaigned on being shoeless and made tons of promises, was to complain about how short four years is to do any work. He then followed it straightaway by sending a bill to change the constitutional tenure from two possible 4 year terms to a single 6 year term. Since then the man has carried on like Aso Rock itself is the seat of God. Nigeria needs to watch out and be prepared, especially with his aides making veiled threats if he doesn't get elected - not only must we allow him to contest in 2015, we have to make sure he wins - otherwise all hell will break loose. Imagine that. Keep hiding behind one finger with GEJ and cohorts. Is Amaechi the only one with the obscene private jet among Nigeria's governors? Doesn't GEJ's new friend Akpabio have a private jet? I am sure that this is how they all violate Nigerian law because of their "power". Including GEJ who allowed military aircraft to be used as transportation for private burials. That being the case what we know for sure is that GEJ and Amaechi are having a political dispute. And it is the same man who is, all of a sudden, having problems with Federal authorities. GEJ is very wise in his own eyes. It is very dishonorable to use the state apparatus to settle political scores. In saner countries, the head of such a state apparatus will call such a man out in front of the nation. Yeah, I am a disgrace to humanity...how do you even reply to such silly output of an unwashed mouth!!! slimghost: 8 Likes |

You are mixing issues. This is not about private jets or not but the excesses of those at the center. Whether Amaechi did right spending Rivers state money on a private jet is another issue entirely - personally I think it is obscene. And if anyone wants to preserve their freedom in Nigeria they better make sure to counter GEJ's increasing autocratic ways. redsun: These animals flies private jets when they dont understand the concept of house carriage. This particular rehabilitation was supposed to take 10 months, but the govt. which GEJ was part of, stopped the momentum of work and was only forced to continue because OBJ made it difficult to stop. Mumu dey worry you. Since GEJ did the work, why don't you show me the shovel and hammer he used to lay the lines. It was neither GEJ's money or time or anything that personally belonged to him that went into the project. He continued a contract that was already being executed, simple as ABC. The project as planned by OBJ included the Abuja light rail, fast rail connections between Lagos and Abuja, among others. GEJ gets praise for continuing the work, but he didn't start it and he has not improved on it either. So keep your arrogant BS to yourself - nobody is buying it. Show me indeed...why don't you show me shovel GEJ used in laying the rail lines - since we are deep into the absurd now! You are fooling yourself, when you say the contract was not being executed with any soft loan. The fact is that GEJ's govt. is spending most of the budget on recurrent items - like banquet halls for example. Who born monkey? The govt. that was virtually collapsing and stealing funds from state allocations to pay petrol subsidies last year and is already arranging to borrow another $9 billion, most of it from the same Chinese. The truth hurts the ear I know. Sincere 9gerian: |

You lost your bearing, nobody said GEJ did not do what he did. If you can't comprehend what you read go back to school. The statement started with "Kudos to GEJ...", but that doesn't mean he did it alone or is the king of the universe as would have us believe. Like I wrote in my previous post actual construction started before the duo of Yar'adua/GEJ decided to suspend it: "On 30 October 2006 President Olusegun Obasanjo signed a contract with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation [4] to modernise the Lagos to Kano railway line. This is the first phase of the proposed 3 phase line upgrade. The project has been split up into 5 sections namely Lagos-Ibadan (181 km), Ibadan-Ilorin (200 km), Ilorin-Minna (270 km), Minna–Abuja–Kaduna (360 km), and Kaduna-Kano (305 km). Construction started, but the project was suspended in 2008 following a dispute." GEJ's administration simply completed the unfinished sections of this line - get your facts right. manny4life: Isn't it amazing how good stuff is attributed to OBJ, when it comes to the bad, they will remember GEJ. As far as I'm concerned, if OBJ could not resuscitate Nigerian rail for 8 years other than paper contracts, then GEJ takes the full credit. People can no longer be deceived, the opposition has to do a better job in discrediting GEJ in other areas people are not conversant not this. |

It is really hard to engage you people in any kind of reasonable conversation. Seeing that you are paid - conflict of interest participants in the Nigerian project. You people ride around here like intellectuals. But your reasonings are pure instinct - like prize-fighting dogs. Convince yourself of what you will - the facts are the facts. The Chinese already started work on the railways rehabilitation projects, not just Lagos-Kano, before OBJ's tenure ended. Even the article I posted showed that they were providing a $2 billion soft loan for the project. Don't you find it contradictory that you find it so easy to separate OBJ's contribution to these projects and separate GEJ's role in the disaster presidency of the Yar'adua/GEJ duo. Kudos for completing this part of the project aside, GEJ ought to be ashamed going around talking about rehabilitating railways that travel only about twice as a horse. Is that the transformation he promised? You can't promise transformation, and then once you are in the chair point to repairs you are making to an unworkable system. That is not transformation - that is called "repairs". I am out. Sincere 9gerian: 1 Like |

I try to be accurate when making historical comments about Nigeria. If you think I am wrong, you ought to do a little bit of research. Sometimes I will be wrong because these are generally writing from memory, but my memory about this kind of stuff is good. The fact is that OBJ met a lot of ongoing fire in Nigeria in those days and moved to address quite a few. You ought to know that I am not a big fan of Baba in his mode of administration and pandering to the north, but no one can deny that the man will lay down his life for his vision of Nigeria - although that vision is far-off from reality. Now to the issue of what happened with the railways and in fact most projects that GEJ is commissioning these days. Most of them were started under OBJ - he completed many and handed over a veritable set of good ongoing projects to Yar'adua/GEJ. A classic behavior of the latter duo (probably just Yar'adua) once they took the reigns was to put a stop to almost all laudable projects of OBJ, not just railways, but also power and refineries, among many others. If you did not know, OBJ completed the sale of Nigerian refineries to Dangote and I think Otedola - these guys actually paid $800 million dollars into Nigeria's coffers and promised to add a new refinery to the existing capacity as part of the deal, I think. Mr. Yar'adua in his "wisdom" not only reviewed the sale but cancelled and returned the funds to these investors. Imagine that! Evidence that OBJ started the railways rehabilitation project with the Chinese, how Yar'adua suspended it and then restarted it are provided to you below. When you read the bolded part you will notice that Yar'adua would have loved to cancel the entire thing - just like with the refineries - but OBJ had made it difficult to abandon. The evil that Yar'adua perpetrated after promising good governance and rule of law could be easily seen by his actions on power. When he suspended action on power projects, power plants were left at the ports to rot away - yet he had promised to declare an emergency on power in his first 100 days, those 100 days "never came" until he joined the ancestors. The fact is that OBJ signed the contract the railways project and Yar'adua being a slowpoke slowed it down and then reversed himself. So yes, OBJ started it, Yar'adua continued it and GEJ finished it. GEJ must receive kudos for reversing his former boss' wicked attitude and seeing these projects to conclusion, but OBJ must receive praise for making it possible in the first place. Thank you. http://www.afrol.com/articles/32206 Sincere 9gerian: 2 Likes |

Kudos to GEJ for completing this rehabilitation of the railways that was started under OBJ. However, it is quite amusing to me that anyone would be jumping up and down about this, once they notice that it says a 125km trip from Kaduna to Kano takes 6hrs by train:"As the train chugged toward Kano on a recentApril night, some of the train’s security guards, plain-clothed policemen carrying AK-47s, stepped off the train in Kaduna, about 125 miles from Kano, or six hours by train." In other words we are rejoicing over a transport system that moves at about twice the speed of horseback traveling in use in ancient times. At first I did not believe it when someone mentioned that the train trip to Kano from Lagos takes 35 hours!!! As they say, time is money and Nigeria obviously enjoys frittering away time!!! 1 Like |

Pa Awolowo's hope would be for his successors to surpass his own achievements. In Yorubaland that is the prayer of parents for their children. Otherwise there would be no progress. Having said that, your question is not only redundant, it is divisive. Without Awolowo's trail blazing there is no Tinubu - and so a Tinubu or any other successor of the great sage knows where to send your question..the garbage dump. doncartel: Yorubas please help me with this one. We non-Yorubas recognize only 3 Yoruba leaders in history- Oduduwa, Awolowo and now Tinubu. The first one is almost like God so he is unchallengeable. However there is now some confusion over the second and third. With the level of influence and momentum that Tinubu is pulling, people are now asking whether Baba Awo actually commanded such power and greatness when he was alive. I would like to know how Yorubas compare the two of them because most non-Yorubas are already seeing Tinubu as the return of Oduduwa |
