Romance / Re: Goat Farming In Abuja Or Block Industries by laivwire(m): 11:35am On May 03 |
2bluckus: Except your wife has technical skills in these areas, don't start the business hoping to make intense money from it right from the get go. I support ruminant production because its long term. Just keep multipying the goats until you can come down and manage things yourself. You can also plant trees. They take some time (repaid time) to develop and in some years, you can come down and start harvesting and selling. If your land is in a developing part of Gwagwalada, you can try block making but make sure your wife is business savvy. I can't emphasize that enough because she's the only one you can trust. Any other person will run you down. Other than that, invest in an existing business with proper documentation or just put your money in piggyvest jejely. |

Travel / Re: UK Home Office: Students Bringing Dependants To The UK Fall By 80% by laivwire(m): 8:02am On May 03 |
I keep laughing when some people will be asking the revenue question. Are you the one feeding the UK? Are these not the same students who pay a quarter of their school fees and then come in to hustle and pay the rest in instalments? You are spending Uk money, not naija money. Besides, you are also getting the education. They didn't collect money for you to come sit in their country. Besides, all the money you spend while there was also made there. I have no stats but I'm convinced that the percentage of fresh immigrants with high value skills will be less than 20%. Yes, useless immigrants are too many and they have to be repatriated. Its the ugly truth but many immigrants come over to the west and spoil things. They carry damage baggage from their home countries to every place they go. I once saw a video of people looting passenger bags from a flixbus in traffic. By who? Defnitely not citizens of the country. Make una go develop your country too. Do your studies and return home. We can't keep complaining of neocolonialism when our generation is not making an effort at development. 10 Likes 1 Share |
Education / Re: Is This Proper In A Private School Settings? by laivwire(m): 9:48am On May 01 |
Tallesty1:...and this is why I support Human Resource agencies (if they are not exploitative as well). If job seekers have specialized training in the roles they are hired for, no employer can ask them to carry out these menial tasks as if they're unskilled labor. The agencies should also front for the employees as a bigger entity as opposed to a single man army who can even be fired verbally. These are the issues the NLC should be tackling. As far as I know, only civil servants can fight for rights today. This should be replicated in the private sector as well. |
Health / Re: How Do I Prevent HIV After Exposure? Please Help by laivwire(m): 12:36pm On Apr 29 |
SSSbuster: The ai of that drug looks like a good combination. The drugs you use to prevent HIV (PEP) is the same as that used to treat it. If you're concerned about the competence of the pharmacist, then go to the general hospital. Just know you have to start using those drugs for the next 30 days or so at a fixed time if the day. You can't skip it, take it too early or too late. Get ready to deal with side effects as well. When you're done, you would realize the importance of life and how it's not worth gambling away with cheap, illicit sex. 52 Likes 5 Shares |

Nwaokunkpara:Exactly, I know an influential person who was a "strong man" killed by bandits some years ago. He was at home when they informed him that bandits were rustling the cattle in his farm. A situation in which even soldiers refused to go, he proceeded to the farm to confront the bandits. According to hearsay, he questioned if they knew who owned the farm and why they would dare attack it. The bandits shot him severally but the bullets didn't penetrate. They grabbed and hacked him with machetes but no luck. Guess what? They looped a noose around his neck and hung him in a tree. That was his unfortunate end. |
Crime / Re: All My Money Just Got WIPED OFF!!! by laivwire(m): 9:26am On Apr 26 |
It is high time a 2 factor authentication is provided for POS withdrawals. These crooks are really exploiting the loop hole. They debit accounts from unknown locations without any camera or surveillance. Worse is there's no limit. At least NFC is limited to a certain amount. POS terminals should require a token validation on the phone before withdrawal or a picture of the withdrawee in the absence of a phone. 3 Likes |

efembaba: Are you sure your card wasn't switched at the ATM? Did it fall at any point when you were trying to withdraw? Criminals will stand behind you and switch your card without your knowledge. You insert the wrong card and key in your pin (which they observe) but the card doesn't work. ATM swallows fake card. Meanwhile, the crook has your card and your password. He just goes to the nearest POS (without surveillance) and drains your account. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Education / Re: Wow - Unilag Students Are Now Free To Get Double Certificates! by laivwire(m): 11:17am On Apr 24 |
I wonder when students will be able to have majors and minors and have documentation for both when they graduate. The EIBIC is a good initiative but we need more. We have students in other countries graduating in Economics+French or Agribusiness+Public policy for example. When you limit a student to study only philosophy, how do you want him to thrive in the job market? Our universities still punish students for skipping a year of study with extra year and loss of honours when other schools allow students to pause and realign their education pathways especially when they realise the course they are studying is not for them. The only cross overs you see in Nigerian public universities is to downgrade students from veterinary science to agric or Medicine to biochemistry. We still have a long way to go. 1 Like 1 Share |

Romance / Re: Why I Can't Marry Below My Economic Class. by laivwire(m): 1:11pm On Apr 20 |
The world used to frown at social climbers but today, we have realized the end truly justifies the means. Call it what you want but marriage still remains one of the valuable tools to personal, spiritual, professional and life changing growth. Getting married to a valuable individual can open doors for you in places you never dare step into, give you exotic citizenship or even make you entitled to a bloodline/monarchy beyond what you as an individual or if married to a 'lower class' individual can achieve. Your children sef fit fine pass you because of your marriage decisions. Any aspiring individual is to open his eyes wide when making such decisions. It used to be women concerned about this before but even men need to take cognizance of this fact in these times. 10 Likes 1 Share |

Crime / Re: Benin Police Men Shot At My Friends. Graphic Pic by laivwire(m): 7:24am On Apr 18 |
It's common to see people jumping queues at police checkpoints and you would be tempted to do same. Don't. First, why would you jump the queue?, is your time valuable than every other person waiting? The police are law enforcement, you OBEY them. Don't do gragra. Many officers have lost their lives due to spring attacks by gunmen who carry out similar maneuvers like your friends did. Your friend is even wearing a camo like shirt. All red flags asking for trouble. You should always wait your turn. I did jump queues sometime ago when I traveled a lot but I was already familiar with the police teams on that route. I also drop something almost everytime I pass. Your appearance also says a lot about who you are before they even approach you. 15 Likes 3 Shares |

Business / Re: Dollar Makes "U" Turn, Begins To Appreciate Against Naira by laivwire(m): 7:27am On Apr 17 |
People reacting based on emotións. This forex issue is a direct battle between the FG and hoarders. As long as crude oil is being sold, they will always have money to fight the USD. If USD falls below a certain benchmark, be sure people will buy more and the price will rise again, if it risses to a certain level as well, people will rush and sell to recoup their naira. That equilibrum point is what everyone is on the look out for. The question is; what value does the FG want the USD to max out at? We would keep watching the price at which the CBN sells to BDCs. From my observations however that value still lies around #1300 per Dollar in a worst case scenario. 2 Likes |

Typical Nigerian mentality to reap where they do not sow. I had this exact type of car a few years back (check my profile picture) and in this current state it is a nightmare to daily drive, not even worth 300k sef. You have to sink in a good amount of money to get it to "vintage" taste. That is where the million worth is, not this scrap this reaper wants to peddle. |

We all know how incorporated companies remain individual entities. Why would you detain an individual for weeks before arraignment as a way to This guy has not committed any direct crime but just because he came into the country, the Govt is exploiting the situation to detain him. Romance / Re: Olosho House Experience of a16yrs old by laivwire(m): 9:57am On Apr 05 |
I can relate as well. I used to pass Asas at Molete in Ibadan on my way to school every week day back then and always heard stories about the place especially when I pass there early in the morning shortly after policemen must have burst into the place to settle some skirmish. I went in there once but didn't have the courage to talk to any of those women. I guess I just felt it was an experience so common yet I never got to live it. The day I summoned courage, I used one of these hook-up sites and the lady gave her address. Getting there, it was an hotel and she gave her room number. The receptionist grinned at me like he knew what I was up to and I was like WTF. The room was so dark, stuffy and dingy and the only light source was a blurry TV screen. It also had an infused smell of cigarettes, air freshener and maybe body fluids mixed into one nasty nasal concoction. I met a totally different human being from the lady I saw online. She asked me to come and lie in an equally probably dirty bed. My senses were at high alert about what other things may have happened in this room and hoped some criminal doesn't come in and rob me due to my naivety. As much as she tried, I was flat as a pancake and my heart kept thudding. I gave her money and hurriedly got out of the room. 13 Likes 1 Share |

MOG6670:If I understand, you want to generate income from agriculture part time while you learn transportation. Annual crops like maize take about 2 months of constant attention before you can leave it to mature. That's not too much to spare for a money making venture in a year provided the farm is secure. Otherwise, you can go into Cassava that takes a longer period but you can leave it while you do other things in town. You can also try your hands at buying and storing produce to sell when prices rise. |
