Literature / About Mum Money And I by Niftyrules(m): 9:48pm On Aug 20, 2021 |
I just realized now that I haven't written at all about my new book, Mum Money and I here on Nairaland and it really pained me. Yes it really hurt because Nairaland has been a home where I have dialogued with literary colleagues and other writers rubbing mind together and getting solutions to challenges. So my book Mum Money and I was conceived after a presentation I did in Harare in 2019, relating with a past childhood experience I had when a Nigerian politician with over Seven investment died with non of his children to sustain those businesses. My thought on Mum Money and I is to raise an awareness of early financial education for our kids across schools in Nigeria and Africa and then teaching them savings and investment with kiddies fantasy and stories they can relate with. So it is not just a desire to sell copies but to awaken a consciousness of the future that awaits our kids. It would be wrong to allow our kids learn by experience but rather smart, if we communicate our experience with them in such an attractive way. I rest here. Cc Divepen1. (My oga at the top) 2 Likes

Over time, discipline has been the hallmark of growth. |
Education / Grow by Niftyrules(m): 11:18am On Jan 29, 2021 |
Breakthrough comes when you are prepared for the big break. To breakthrough is a function of you, positioning with a growth plan ongoing for you. -Odunayo Ajani ‘2021. The beginning of every great achievement starts from a point where you see the end from the beginning. Counting your cost and realizing what you need to put in place to achieve your desired success will be pivotal in 2021. Real greatness comes from the place of yielding to learn, to be better, to read, and generally to grow. The limit to your growth is greatly dependent on how much you really want to succeed. Growth is one phase of life that makes you forgo your previous successes (though you can still reference them), challenge yourself on the next big thing to do, and summarily, prepare for a better version of your previous success. Only the restless learners can heal and change the world. Here I mean those who are desirous of growth despite the present challenges or limiting factors. While commuting to my office this morning, I heard over a radio broadcast, a caller saying that if you ever want to succeed this year, then you need to look beyond where you are. He further added that you need to change from the limiting factor that everything has to be done physically and ultimately, grow. In his word, we are in a new normal and this connotes that things can never be run in the usual way unless we have chosen to remain where we use to be. To you, this may not connote taking a lesson, a course, or reading a book. But that you leave a formal way to a better one simply tells of one who has exhibited growth. Hard work as it were is not enough to sustain relevance or be successful in a world daily changing with innovative ideas and approach to doing work. The truth is if you have goals and things you need to achieve, deliberate commitment to growth will go a long way to help you achieve them. The long-standing myth that says growth is automatic is as fallacious as the one who invented that saying. No one in the universe ever grows automatically. As a matter of fact, the infant we see today doesn’t grow automatically. Growth for infants in this case comes to be as a result of deliberate feeding and taking proper care of such child which also translates as an intentional commitment to ensure a physical change in such child. This therefore makes clear that, growth comes from a deliberate intention to see improvement. If you won’t factor growth into your plan this year, then breaking through might be a mirage. How do I Grow? This is one common question for people passionate about improvement. Growth comes with doing certain activities continuously per time. That you will experience growth is a function of you committing to doing certain task and doing them right. Before you consider how to grow you need to attend to these few issues. • How bad do you want to grow? • Do you have a growth plan? • What growth-hindering habit(s) have you taken note of and decided to stop? • How do you know you are growing? How do I grow? 1. Answer the questions above 2. Create a plan flexible enough for your development. What this connotes is working through a plan that allows for your ease of achieving your personal development goals. Of course, this doesn’t connote that things will come easily but that, you have to be able to modify things when there is a need for it. 3. Set certain growth Discipline. Discipline makes us stick to plans. Here you need to set boundaries and instructional limits on yourself and the activities you do. For example, this could be; Reading at least 3-5 chapters of a book before going to bed per day or praying for one hour each day before seeing any movie. When you do these, your life can never remain the same again, in fact, you get better at the things you need to deliver on. 4. Read books. Real personal development is achieved when a book is read. You can never develop yourself in the real sense when you are not reading and the beautiful thing today is that the internet and libraries around us are filled with valuable materials you can glean from. 5. Submit to mentorship. It is a pride for you to say you don’t have a mentor. I have heard a couple of people make this statement but the truth is that this set of people often experience growth challenges and will plateau at a certain point they shouldn’t have plateaued at. How much you will grow and see the future you want to feature in, is a function of how much you have seen such a future through the eyes of people that have gone ahead of you. For every profession there are professionals. These professionals didn’t get to that position by the night but as a result of constant use of their skills and adequately deploying such skills for their organizational profiting. There are literary mentors, spiritual mentors, professional mentors, industry-based mentors, and many more. You can maximize social media for your mentorship. Most of your would-be mentors are online and as a matter of fact, they are a direct message away from you. 6. Attend Conferences, take courses. Part of what makes growth happen is your willingness to take courses and attend conferences. By attending conferences or taking courses, you develop in the area of your expertise and hear from others what has been sustaining them. https://www.healtheworldmovementng.org/blog/grow/

Nairaland / General / Positioning For A Profitable Post COVID19 Future by Niftyrules(m): 7:50am On May 11, 2020 |
Is COVID19 real? See for yourself Maximizing this present moment for a profitable post COVID19 experience is not another inspirational title carved out to make you smile or giggle at the screen but a call for you to maximize the moment while it last. A lot of young and maybe old people today seem to have remain bored and overwhelmed by the experiences of things around, following the adverse effect of the present global pandemic on life generally. This stems from the feelings of times spent at home, waiting for the next course of action coupled with the fact that everyday activities seem to be the same and going in the same order like that daily. The recent reality is that the effect of COVID19 calls for us all to reposition ourselves and our life for the new normal which has come to stay. Many of us would never have thought schools, churches, banks and in short life could be brought to a total standstill but unfortunately that is what we got as a result of our nations strive to curb its effect. As a matter of fact, for nations whose healthcare system is in total shambles, it is a tougher experience to coup with. Even with the developed nations with almost excellent healthcare system, the absence of vaccine to treat this novel virus seems to be a thorn in the flesh. On the contrary, the COVID19 pandemic which has brought nations of the world to a state of indefinite lockdown seem to have given an ample time to many people to do a lot of things they had wanted to do, (I mean age-long longings) leaving us all to maximize the moment if we choose to. One thing to notice in a time as this is the fact that the Work From Home (WFH) mantra has taken up the whole world and everyone is coming up with amazing creativity to bring to light, great ideas which initially was struggling or was never before considered. For the family folks; husbands, wife, parent generally and children, it has been a moment unveiling itself with various surprises. Many couples are seeing some day to day behavior of their spouses they had never seen before and this has left a lot to wonder. This period particularly has given also the fathers the privilege to bond more with their children and then the results of it goes on and on and on. As much as companies are laying off staffs, many more are recruiting creative hands to manage their businesses. Big giant such as Google, Amazon and Apple have made calls for openings in their firms just some weeks ago. Digital skills seem to be in great demand and more internet based vacancies are opening for people to fill up as the days unfold. As a matter of fact companies, I mean older companies that have been in existence for more than a decade now can categorically pinpoint loopholes in their operation as a result of this lockdown. If you don’t know, this lockdown seem to have also exposed a lot of inadequacies in the government of the world, the corporate world and industry and now the failure to plan or foresee into a reality as this seem to be haunting everyone. An example of this is seen in our poor healthcare system, absence of job security, workplace myopic response to working from home and lots more. This then leave us with the fact that we can’t run anywhere else (at least we have seen this in recent weeks following the shutdown of aircrafts from flying) order than facing our problems head on, adjusting to our new normal and as well preparing for the days ahead of us. So how do you do this? 1. Run a scrutiny check on the loophole suffered in this period of lockdown on your business 2. Think flexible work culture 3. Prepare and fine tune your CV/resume for your preferred industry (because surely some people have been laid off already without knowing) 4. Go acquire at least a digital skill (it is very evident now how much this is treasured in any industry you can name) 5. Build more positive relationships this time (some jobs will never come by your CV. How good is your interpersonal relationships) 6. Settle with the fact that business can never be as usual again. 7. Be resolute to work better. Above all, the truth today is that those who add value to any organization on earth are hardly laid off except in extreme cases. So even as we seem to be coasting to the end of this pandemic, as a result of the several vaccine discoveries (or undergoing trials) I charge that you sustain your commitment to be better at whatever you do. Be positioned to get the best of the Post COVID19 season and excel in all you do. See who we are - https:///3dDlZa3 ©Odunayo Ajani 2020 for HTWM News desk. |
Family / Giving Succor To Aged Fellows In Our Life And Community by Niftyrules(m): 12:47pm On Feb 07, 2020 |
Do you want to grow old? Of course, any Tom Dick and Harry will answer in the affirmative since growing old is one sign of grace and evidence of passing through life with some experiences to show for it. But then have you come to think about the fact that the aged ones amongst us were once kids and infant that sits on some parent’s laps? Yes, someone took good care of them to become the aged adults we see today. And now that they are old, taking good care of them still never stops. Taking good care of our elders most importantly the aged ones is one thing that is almost becoming old-fashioned in our present world where money seems to get things done with ease. As much as finance is needed to give these senior citizens the best of care, having you (the child or caregiver) around could give them dimples of joy. Most parents don’t even care that much if you send them money or not, but an excitement is stirred in them when they are assured of you paying them a visit. Aged adults often lose strength following the aging phase of their lives, and this point in their lives often calls for support. While aging tells on their physical strength it shows also in their ability to recollect and bring back past experiences. This one good reason to say, shouting on them might be the wrong thing to do when they fail to get the idea you are communicating to them. At this point in their life, they only need to feel loved and be able as well to comprehend your compassionate feeling towards them. Having our aged folks and parents in mind should be as sure as knowing what next to eat. When taking care of them has been engraved in the heart, then it becomes a case of one good turn that plays back to you in the days to come. This been said, when you give attention to your old folk's financial and emotional needs, it helps in a way to reduce their aging process. Although this is not proved but I know it works even as regular laughter and excitement work wonder for the soul. Taking good care of your aged parent, folks and adult is not something farfetched, it could be as simple as; 1. Giving them a surprise birthday party 2. Reproducing an old memory for them (reprinting pictures, showing them collections of old things they did in the past). 3. Helping them achieve a younger age ambition 4. Being around to play and laugh with them 5. Giving them gifts 6. And the list continues This list is inexhaustive and can further be lengthened depending on your creativity with fun. But then it is an onus on every young person to see to the care of an aged person, a priority and not what you feel you should do. No one ever wants to be caught in the negative law of Karma. http://www.healtheworldmovementng.org/blog/2020/02/07/giving-succor-to-aged-fellows-in-our-life-and-community/
