And what was that?

If I may ask.

It seems like you were a child in 2006.

Lebanon was under siege from land and sea Beirut was pounded.

Hezbollah agreed to withdrew past the litany river that was the goal of the war.

UN forces admister the buffer zone Israel created.

The only thing they did was stop the total destruction of Lebanon and ensure their own survival.

Tell me I am wrong.

You are wrong. Isreal had the following objectives:

1. Rescue the soldiers abducted: The IDF failed on that with the dead bodies of the slain soldiers released by Hezbollah at the end of the conflict.

2. Eliminate Hezbollah rockets: NOT only the IDF fail woefully on that objective, Hezbollah's rocket attacks actually doubled till the very end of the conflict.

3. Ground Invasion of Sothern Lebanon: Now this was the icing on the cake as it was here that Hezbollah practically destroyed the myth of the IDF's invincibility. When Hezbollah started knocking out IDF Merkava armour with Russian made Kornets ATGM, and Hezbollah thoroughly embarrassed seasoned IDF units like Matkal, Egoz, and Co, inflicting serious casualties while fighting stubbornly, then the IDF knew they bit far more than they could chew.

In the very end Hezbollah basically won that war because they successfully denied Isreal of the later's strategic objectives. On the other hand, it was as a result of Isreal's failure that the public called for the resignation of Prime Minister Olmert and his Defence Minister.

Anyway, I suggest you read up on the conflict.

The Israeli occupation of Southern Lebanon[a] formally began in 1985 and ended in 2000 as part of the South Lebanon conflict. On May 24, 2000, Israel pulled back from southern Lebanon to the international border line, in compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 425

The clashes Israel had with Hezbollah is almost like what is going on now. Although it was more intense. And a moderate prime minister came into power. He saw the war as pointless and unnecessary he literally campaign with he promise of ending the war.

Hezbollah should chase Israel out of shebaa farms na if they won.
Which major battle did Hezbollah win that made Israel redraw?

Tell me one.

2006 Lebanon War. Hezbollah achieved what all Arab militaries could never achieve.

WrriterNg:
⚡The United States submitted a detailed proposal to resolve the issue of Türkiye's acquisition of Russian S-400 air-defense systems for F-35 jets.

The plan would allow Türkiye to formally keep the missiles on its territory but transfer their control to the United States.

The proposal suggests transferring the Russian S-400 systems to the US-controlled sector of Incirlik base in southern Türkiye.

The aim is to allow Türkiye to return to the F-35 fighter jet program.

Discussions appear to be at a more advanced stage than previously known. Both sides seem to desire a successful conclusion to these talks.

Türkiye's initial response is reportedly not positive, but discussions are expected to continue.

I don't think the Turks will agree to this, especially when the KAAN project has taken too the skies.

Neduzoma123456:
Below is an example of a school worth fees of 30k

100 students pay 30k = 3,000,000
10 teachers gets 70k = 700,000

10 students per Teacher (very realistic, don't argue)

A term is usually 3 months...School fees is paid once...Total monthly salary of teachers would be 700,000 x 3 months..that gives us = 2,100,000

What stops schools from applying this.

Then imagine a school of 290k as fees paying cheap 55k for labour ...like seriously...THIS IS WRONG!

it just pure wickedness...most School owners and Business owners in Nigeria are cruel...SIMPLE... They only want to use you dry.

Oh really? Have you factored in other costs or you think it's only wage/Salaries private schools? What of the administrative cost used to run the school? You know stationaries and Co? What about cost of providing power (public AND self generated) ESPECIALLY with diesel at N1,300.00 pet litre? How about cost of fuelling X number of school vehicles for transport service? And same vehicles, you have to maintain them, right? What about your generators? And there's the depreciation/maintenance costs? Oh...there's the the almighty LG/State/Federal MULTIPLE TAXS. Have you factored those? For a boarding school, you have to feed the children in your care EVERYDAY. Where do you think the money? It is equally fairly certain that these schools must either improve on their services or invest in new ones to stay competitive, hence new projects. Who pays for those? And other services I.e. garbage disposal, internet services, etc?

The problem I have with posts like this is that most of you are totally ignorant about what it takes to run an educational institution. All I can say is that I pray you have the opportunity to build and run yours. Then you'll fully understand that it's not naively simple as you think.

Private school owners dey cash out steady

What a load of bull dung. If you don't know much about running a private school, I suggest you don't talk about it. Have you factored the monthly wage bills, cost of power supply, fuelling of vehicles, depreciation costs, MULTIPLE TAXES, administrative costs, etc? Private schools are basically on survival mode.

As for the teacher in question, she's not serious at all. If she's not happy, she can go look for a job someplace else. Simple.

It was actually used to lure many of the present day Nigerian aunties to bed by way back uncles in the neighbourhood.

What's your story about this throwback bubble gum?

NIGERIAN ARMY TAKES DELIVERY OF ITS FIRST SET OF AIRCRAFTS...As Army Aviation becomes a reality

The Nigerian Army (NA) has taken a significant step in enhancing its operational capabilities with the delivery of the first batch of new aircrafts. The berthing of the aircrafts marks a significant milestone in the development of the Nigerian Army Aviation’s capacity to provide air support for ground operations. The aircraft BELL UH-1H (HUEY) helicopters, were formally received by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja in a brief ceremony held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Thursday 20 June, 2024.

Receiving the aircrafts, General Lagbaja, noted that the renewed drive to establish an NA Aviation wing was conceived by the then-former COAS, Lieutenant General Kenneth Minimah (rtd), in 2014, with a three-phase ten-year implementation plan.

The COAS extolled former Chiefs of Army Staff, maintaining, that their tenacity and drive, along with the collective efforts of personnel and Nigerian Government’s political will, have been instrumental in realizing the fruition of NA Aviation.

Gen Lagbaja appreciated the various successive administrations for their support in training NA Pilots and Ground Crews as well as putting in place requisite structures. The COAS profoundly expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for fulfilling his promise to fund the acquisition of NA platforms and providing all support to actualize the dream.

The BELL UH-1H Helicopters are equipped with advanced sensors and enablers to conduct a range of missions, including reconnaissance, surveillance, rescue, logistics, transportation, and medical evacuation.

The Army Chief also appreciated the forerunners, particularly the sister services and the Nigerian Police Force Aviation wing, for their support and encouragement. He noted that the NA is spurred to serve the nation better with the acquisition of the new platforms and provide Nigerians, an enabling environment for economic prosperity.

In his remarks, the Coordinator, NA Aviation, Brigadier General Musa Alkali, stated that the arrival of the NA Aviation vanguard platforms is a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance the operational capabilities of the NA Aviation, in line with the COAS’s Command Philosophy.

Brig Gen Alkali stressed that the acquisition of the platforms is a clear demonstration of the NA’s aviation resolve, which started 40 years ago to continuously improve and adapt in the face of an evolving security landscape, adding that this will boost the NA’s reconnaissance, surveillance, and air mobility capabilities. The Coordinator acknowledged the tireless efforts of those involved in the execution of the NA Aviation plan, as well as the international partners.

Earlier, a Consultant for the Nigerian Army Aviation, Major General Emeka Onwuamaegbu (retired) who is also a trained Helicopter Pilot, lauded the Nigerian Army for sustaining the vision over the years that saw to the actualization of the Nigerian Army aviation.

First of all, a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to the Army for it's Air Corp. I'm truly elated for the force and Nigeria at large.

That said, I have a few questions and reservations:

1. Why the very old BELL UH-1? Why not the BELL 412 that's equally used by the NAF? In my opinion, that would ease training, interoperability, and maintenance.

2. Another concern are restrictions the Americans may place on the procured helos? If we fall out with the Americans, you know how they are. So why risk it?

3. Why don't we go for mid sized transport helos like the Mi-17 transport helos that can pack a decent amount of troops for air assaults

Putins ego launched this war and its only his wounded pride that has made him obstinate despite the present unexpected consequences.

I'm sure if he'd known this would have been the outcome, he wouldn't have invaded Ukraine in the first place.

This has nothing to do with the ego of one, but the arrogance of the western bloc who felt they could create security threat right at the borders of the Russian Federation despite repeated warnings. Well, Ladies and Gentlemen, the s@#t has definitely hit the fan.

Another confused Zombie, where were u when Putin and Russia first took over and forcibly land grabbed Crimea from Ukraine over 7 years ago, before Putin now tried his luck again thinking he can land grab and takeover the whole Ukraine...grow up boy and learn ur history and stop posting thrash like a deranged janja-weed yaba left zombie..

I think you should take up your own and do a little reading on the history of the region.

First of all, Crimea has always been Russian. Second, this whole mess predates 2014. The west, led by the USA at the end of the cold war, CHOSE to expand NATO Eastward despite Gorbachev's plea and subsequent warnings by the Russian govt that NATO expansion ends at Germany.

In 2007, Vladimir Putin gave clear warnings and red lines were drawn on Ukraine and Georgia during the Munich Security Conference. This followed the Bush led administration and NATO mgt considering Ukraine and Georgia as possible candidates for NATO membership. Again, did the west listen? Nope.

In 2008 things escalated with the Russo-Georgian war, a war clearly instigated by the later with weapons and training provided, although in limited quantities. Again, did the west listen? NOPE.

Within said period and 2014, the west instigated TWO colour revolutions in Ukraine, the later being the most brazen with the then Ukranian President kicked out of office in a western sponsored coup, an act that angered the industrial and Russian-speaking Eastern region of Ukraine, leading to riots that degenerated to a civil war.

Then 2022 happens. Despite multiple talks and appeals for reconsideration, the west refuses to drop talks of NATO membership for Ukraine, forgetting that this was viewed as an existential threat to the security of the Russian Federation.

Well, here we are now....

The Russians are not bluffing on this. They're ready for the long and the initiative is on their side, with the war of attrition in their favour. The Russians will get what they want, ESPECIALLY the Donbass. As the west has given the Ukrainians the go ahead, don't be surprised when Russian weapons begin to show up in western controlled territories outside continental Europe (eg Africa, Asia, the Pacific). The only folks I feel sorry are the Ukrainians because they'll be left with a large bag of kaka when the music stops (a destroyed nation, a depleted productive population, destroyed infrastructure, etc). South Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan definitely comes to mind.

Mr Putin, your demands are ridiculous, Ukraine might consider dropping its bid for NATO membership for peace but withdrawing their soldiers from places annexed by Russia is impossible

It's already happening the slow and hard way. The Russians are not backing down on this one. The Donbass region will definitely fall. As for Kherson oblast, 60% is already under Russian control.
