Politics / Tension In Ede As Adeleke's Proposed Cos Kills Two by Oluwolex2000(m): 3:40pm On Aug 06, 2022
...Alleged officer is on illegal duty - Police Command

...as family cries for justice

Palpable tension has risen in Ede, Osun State, over the killing of two persons believed to have worked for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last governorship election in the State.

According to reports from residents of the area where the sad incident occurred, one CSP Omoyele who has been penciled down to be the Chief Security Officer (CoS) to the Governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke reportedly shot at the victims last night in the ancient town.

Trouble was said to have started over the disagreement within the PDP's chieftains regarding the left over money released by Adeleke for the governorship election.

At the meeting, one of the members of the Osun House of Assembly who was represented by his Personal Assistant was accused of withholding the money and was asked to release it.

It was further revealed that the ensued altercations led to the exchange of combat and repeated slapping of one another before the matter was later resolved.

The friends of the Personal Assistant to the House member who felt slighted over the matter called Omoyele and they mobilised to Ede and invaded the home of the chieftain of the PDP whom he had disagreement with and killed two persons in the process including a staunch APC member who happens to be son of the PDP chieftain.

The APC supporters in Ede are insisting that the killing was deliberate to eliminate members of APC who refused to be compromised to work for Adeleke during the guber poll.

Meanwhile, sources closed to the police revealed that the Osun Commissioner of Police has stepped into the matter just as he allegedly disowned the operation insisting that Omoyele and his team were not meant to be in Ede at the time of the incident.

According to sources, the CP said Omoyele informed him about the incident in Osogbo and he was told to mobilise to the place.

"I didn't send him to Ede. I only asked him to mobilise his team to Osogbo to intervene in the alleged cultist fight. I didn't know how he got to Ede. But we must get to the roots of the matter," the police reportedly said.

Business / Ahmed Zakari Fidelity Bank And Henry Ajagbawa Plan To Use Security Agencies... by Oluwolex2000(m): 10:11am On Aug 05, 2022
AHMED ZAKARI FIDELITY BANK AND HENRY AJAGBAWA PLAN TO USE SECURITY AGENCIES TO TAKE OVER BEDC PLC AGAIN

Police chooses to obey court order

Despite the various security issues being faced by the country, it has been revealed that Fidelity Bank and Henry Ajagbawa are trying to procure the assistance of other security agencies to intervene in a purely civil and contractual matter, to forcefully and illegally take over BEDC Electricity Plc.

This is despite the pendency of a court order issued by the Honourable Justice E. Nwite of the Federal High Court in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1113/2022 between Vigeo PowerLimited v. Fidelity Bank, Henry Ajagbawa & 6 Ors restraining Fidelity Bank and Ajagbawa from taking over BEDC Electricity Plc.

Our source disclosed that resort is being had to other security agencies because the Nigerian Police has refused to be used as a tool to violate the court order.

According to a source that craved anonymity, "Driving this process is Mr. Ahmed Zakari of the office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who has been open in his interest in securing control and ownership of BEDC without being a shareholder or director in the company."

All efforts to reach Mr. Ajagbawa and Mr Ahmed Zakari proved abortive at the time of going to press. Our source in the Police disclosed that "with the court order held by Vigeo Power Limited, the police would not lend its weight to illegality by imposing Mr. Ajagbawa and his cohorts on a company on which they have no court order to take over after Bedc legitimate management have taken over based on court order"

Education / Olanipekun Breaks Silence: Body Of Benchers Doesn't Supervise LPDC by Oluwolex2000(m): 9:52am On Jul 28, 2022
Olanipekun Breaks Silence: Body of Benchers Doesn't Supervise LPDC

A senior advocate of Nigeria and Chairman, Body of Benchers (BOB), Chief Wole Olanipekun, has explained that the BOB does not supervise the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Chief Olanipekun spoke on Wednesday against the misconception that the BOB has oversight over the LPDC and interferes in its proceedings.

His clarification also followed a letter written by the NBA President, Olumide Akpata, at the weekend asking that he (Olanipekun) step down as BOB chairman.

According to Akpata, this was to avoid undue interference in a petition against a partner in Olanipekun's firm, Ms Adekunbi Ogunde, before the LPDC.

In an earlier July 20 petition, the NBA also asked the LPDC to consider whether the partners of Wole Olanipekun & Co. are not liable to be disciplined alongside Ogunde for soliciting a brief from SAIPEM Contracting Nigeria Ltd, which already had the law firm of Henry Ajumogobia, SAN working for it.

But clearing the air on Wednesday at the call-to-bar ceremony of newly-inducted lawyers, Olanipekun clarified that the LPDC does not influence the outcome of matters brought before the BOB.

"The Body of Benchers does not and will not interfere with any of the proceedings or outcome of such proceedings before the LPDC," he said.
The senior lawyer added, "It is important to point out that the LPDC is not an avenue for dealing with perceived enemies or ventilation of grievances against fellow lawyers on personal issues.

"The decision of the LPDC is known as direction, and any appeal against the direction goes directly to the supreme court."
Recall that a former chairman of the LPDC, Emmanuel Ukala (SAN), had resigned in protest in February following perceived interference by the BOB, then under the chairmanship of Justice Bode Rhodes Vivour.

Ukala noted in the letter, "The independence of the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee is paramount in the scheme of things for maintenance of true discipline in the profession. It is best that things are kept that way no matter the leadership of the Body of Benchers, for the time being, the personal interest of any member and indeed, no matter whose ox is gored."

It is the same independence of the LPDC, which Ukala highlighted that Olanipekun affirmed with his clarification on Wednesday.

Politics / Youth Group Gives Tinubu 48 Hours To Apologise To Nigerians... by Oluwolex2000(m): 5:10pm On Jul 22, 2022
Youth group gives Tinubu 48 hours to apologise to Nigerians over "use of fake bishops"

Advocates for good governance, a youth group with mandate of good governance, has described as "sacrilegious, Tinubu's cloning of fake bishops to add any sense if any, to the unveiling of his Muslim-Muslim Presidential ticket."

In a Thursday statement, the group said; "As Nigerians are all aware, the APC, the party upon whose platform Tinubu and his co-traveller in political comedy, Shettima, are running for office of President of Nigeria, is notorious for cloning of anything clone-able.

"In seven years, the APC, Tinubu's party has made light essence of governance. They inherited a working a economy in 2015, today the economy is on its knees seeking for critical redemption.

"They met a secured Nigeria in 2015, today insecurity lives with us as a nation like a next-door-neighbour.

"Just when you think you have seen it all, then the same party that should be apologising to Nigerians and be committing never to contest elections again as it has become grossly unpopular over the years, is fielding a Tinubu whose identity is yet a subject of clone controversy. It yet did not stop there, the same Tinubu had to clone fake Bishops with diocese or known church, to unveil his fellow Muslim running mate to Nigerians."

"If that is not an insult on the church, one doubt if it is anything else than an insult even on the sensibility of the average Nigerian.

"Nigerians are under obligation to reject Tinubu and his running mate and his entire party APC next year when the general elections hold," the group further added.

While concluding, the group gave the APC and Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC Presidential candidate; 48 hours to "come out and apologise over the 'shenanigans' that happened during the unveiling of the APC Vice Presidential candidate", this was as the group condemned in its strongest term, the APC's use of "fake bishops".

Politics / Governor Wike Making ‘secret’ Moves To Stop Our Governorship Candidate, Others by Oluwolex2000(m): 5:07pm On Jul 20, 2022
Governor Wike Making ‘Secret’ Moves To Stop Our Governorship Candidate, Cole, Others From Contesting In 2023 General Elections – APC Party Kicks

A former Rivers State Accountant General and Wike’s stooge, Fubara Siminialayi is the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Members of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State have accused Governor Nyesom Wike of making several moves to stop the party’s governorship candidate, Tonye Cole, from participating in the 2023 general elections.
A former Rivers State Accountant General and Wike’s stooge, Fubara Siminialayi is the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking to SaharaReporters, a member of the APC alleged the Rivers State Government filed a nine-count charge of stealing, conspiracy and cheating against Cole and others in order to stop him from being on the ballot paper.
Recalled Wike in 2015 set up a seven-man panel to probe his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi over an alleged withdrawal of N96 billion from the state’s treasury during the latter’s tenure as governor.
The panel headed by Justice George Omekeji also investigated issues surrounding the “sale of assets” by the former governor.

The listed valuable assets are Omoku Gas Turbine, Afam Gas Turbine, Trans Amadi Gas Turbine, Eleme Gas Turbine, Olympia Hotel, and the contract award for the execution of Mono Rail Project.
The panel submitted its report in 2015, while Amaechi has insisted that he is not guilty of fraud.
However, on May 27, 2022, the Supreme Court dismissed an application by the immediate past Transportation Minister, challenging the probe.
Weeks after the judgment, Wike directed the the state Attorney-General, Zaccheus Adangor, to file criminal charges against the Ameachi, as well as Sahara Energy, a firm indicted in the deals.
The firm is co-founded by Cole, the governorship candidate of the APC.

"As we are talking, the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike is putting finishing touches to his relentless vicious desperate plot to again stop the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Arc. Tonye Cole, from participating in the 2023 governorship elections in the state,” a top APC official in Rivers told SaharaReporters.
“Like in 2019, Governor Wike’s devious plans is to use the judiciary again, starting from the Rivers State High Court to remove Cole from the ballot in the 2023 governorship elections. This, according to our intel is the main reason Governor Wike directed the Rivers State Attorney-General to file a nine-count charge of stealing, conspiracy and cheating against Amaechi; Rivers All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate, Tonye Cole; Dr. Chamberlain Peterside (Amaechi’s Commissioner for Finance); Sir Augustine Wokocha (Amaechi’s Commissioner of Power); Sahara Energy Resources Limited; NG Powers-HPS Limited and Cenpropsaroten Management Limited.

"The charges were filed against Cole and the other defendants on June 20, 2022. The matter is before Justice David Gbasam of the Rivers State High Court.
“With the next adjourned court date billed for this Thursday, July 21, Governor Wike has been bragging to people in his close circle that Tonye Cole will be convicted by the Rivers State judiciary sooner than later.
“And that would bar Cole from participating in the governorship elections. According to our sources in the government, Governor Wike is boasting and bragging that he has control of the judiciary and judges in Rivers State and Nigeria and that they will always do his bidding and deliver judgments that he wants them to do.

"Governor Wike’s precise words are that the judiciary and judges in Rivers State and in this country are in his pocket. That he (Wike) can do and undo with the judiciary in Nigeria. He brags that he will use the judiciary to stop Tonye Cole and that Cole won’t even be on the ballot for the elections. Wike says that his influence, reach and hold on the judiciary and judges in Nigeria go far beyond Rivers State.
“And he’s quick to cite as examples how he won the VAT case against the Federal Government in a Federal High Court and his winning of the 17 oil wells case against Imo State in the Supreme Court.”
Another APC member alleged the governor had offered eye-popping state patronage to some appointees during Ameachi’s tenure to testify against Cole.

He said, “Furthermore, to achieve his plot of convicting Tonye Cole in the Rivers State High Court, Governor Wike has, painstakingly, drawn out an extensive and extremely expensive plot to induce former appointees who served in the administration of his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, to come and testify in court against Tonye Cole and the other Defendants.
“Wike wants to use these ex-appointees who served in government during Amaechi’s time as governor, as prosecution witnesses to build a strong case against Tonye Cole and the other defendants, especially to hoodwink members of the public into believing that Rivers State money was stolen by Tonye Cole and the other Defendants.

"For Wike, it is principally about the optics, to build public opinion and perception against Tonye Cole and the other Defendants. So, the trick is when members of the public see past government appointees, who were appointed by one of the Defendants, coming to court to testify against Tonye Cole and the other Defendants that would ostensibly make the story of fraud and corruption somehow credible.
“These former appointees of Amaechi will be acting as prosecution witnesses against the government they served in. But it is all a carefully plotted ruse to deceive the court and members of the public. These former government officials would be lying to the court as they will be told what to say, how to say it and given doctored and made-up documents to present to the court and the public.

"Governor Wike is making promises to these former appointees who he wants to act as prosecution witnesses against Tonye Cole and the other defendants. Former Amaechi Commissioners, Special Advisers and Assistants are being promised mouth-watering homogenous sums of money and enormous government patronage to give false testimony against Tonye Cole and the other defendants.”
Calls put across by SaharaReporters to Special Assistant to Governor Wike on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, were not picked nor returned.
A text message also sent to his line was not reply as at the time of this report.

Politics / Adeleke Reneges On Promise To Offset Backlog Salaries In 6 Months by Oluwolex2000(m): 3:12pm On Jul 19, 2022
Not yet sworn in, Adeleke reneges on promise to offset backlog salaries, pensions arrears in six months

A regime of failed promises and gloom appears to be staring Osun in the face as the Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, technically dodged the question regarding his promise to offset the backlog arrears owed all categories of workers and pensioners within six months of coming to office.

Adeleke had allegedly signed an agreement with some categories of the state workforce and pensioners to offset the backlog arrears owing them by the past administrations.

The Osun Governor-elect was reported to have gone into agreement with the civil servants, particularly the pensioners who have been agitating for the payment of the arrears of their salaries and pensions with a promise to get it paid within two quarters of assuming office.

While fielding questions from Seun Okinbaloye, popular Channels TV Political Editor, in a special interview, Adeleke neither provided a definite response nor spoke in line with the question to offset the backlog arrears in six months as early promised.

Okinbaloye had in the interview which was aired yesternight, grilled Adeleke on topical issues bordering on the socio-economic and political fortunes of the State vis-a-vis the quest to effect a change and ensure a total turnaround of the State for the betterment of the citizens.

Adeleke's avoidance of the critical question that has to do with the life of the workforce has generated mixed reactions from the people and as well posed a sense of doubt as to the preparedness and capacity of the incoming Governor to fulfill his electoral promises and deliver good governance.

It was further noticed that People's Democratic Party's Governor-elect couldn't provide relevant responses to many of the questions on governance in the areas of education, infrastructure, security, mining, health, commerce and industry.

The only sector where emphasis was emphatically made was agriculture which, if not properly implemented and adequately funded, could be a mirage

However the takeaway from the interview was the fear of uncertainty created in the minds of the citizens, particularly the electorate who cast their votes based on the PDP's manifestos and electoral promises.

The issue agitating discerning minds was that the PDP and its candidate (now Governor-elect) sold lies to the electorate to earn their votes.

The reality flowing from yesterday's interview is that the incoming Governor is not prepared to hit the ground running to fulfill his electoral promises within the promised timeframe.

Politics / BEDC Takeover: Ajagbawa Flees From Court Bailiff by Oluwolex2000(m): 10:37am On Jul 19, 2022
BEDC Takeover: Ajagbawa flees from court bailiff

Sequel to the unlawful takeover of the management of Benin Electricity Distribution Company Plc (BEDC), the embattled directors allegedly appointed by the Federal Government contrary to the ex parte orders of the Federal High Court, Abuja, have consistently been evading service of Court processes.

This medium had earlier reported the drama that took place on Wednesday 13th July, 2022 when the Court Bailiff from the Federal High Court had to force his way to serve the ex parte orders of the court obtained by Vigeo Power Limited in Suit No FHC/ABJ/CS/1113/2022.

Surprisingly on Monday 18th July, 2022, the same bailiff, who preferred not to disclose his name, accompanied by highly professional police officers, approached the offices of BEDC to serve Mr. Henry Ajagbawa with Court processes including notice of consequences of disobedience of court orders.

Mr. Ajagbawa, having been notified of the imminent presence of the bailiff, hurriedly scampered out of the premises to evade service.

According to the bailiff, "based on what happened the last time when I came to effect service of the orders of court and the 4th to 8th defendants were trying to evade service and presenting unnecessary threats, I applied for police protection and the court duly directed the police to give me protection."

The bailiff expressed surprise at the attitude of Mr. Ajagbawa and other directors who had been flouting the orders of court restraining them from parading themselves as directors of BEDC or taking over the management of the company.

Politics / Henry Ajagbawa, Akuma Refuse Court Bailiff Service, Illegally Break Into BEDC by Oluwolex2000(m): 8:14am On Jul 14, 2022
Henry Ajagbawa, Akuma refuse court bailiff service, illegally break into BEDC premises ...risk jail term for court contempt.

Henry Ajagbawa and K.C. Akuma, in company of three other persons (Adeola Ijose, Charles Onwera and Yomi Adeyemi) PURPORTEDLY RECENTLY appointed to the Board of BEDC Electricity Plc (BEDC), on Wednesday proceeded to illegally and forcefully break into the premises of the company in Benin, the Edo State capital, DESPITE THE SUBSISTING COURT ORDER GRANTED IN FAVOUR OF VIGEO POWER, AND RESTRAINING THE NAMED INDIVIDUALS AND ENTITIES FROM ANY UNLAWFUL OCCUPATION.

Henry Ajagbawa and others who had refused to ACCEPT SERVICE OF THE court ORDER served by ON THEM by court bailiffs on the premises of BEDC, in the presence of the press, also forcefully broke into the office of the Managing Director and the Board room of the company bragging of government protection. Journalists who arrived at the scene were also refused entry into the 4th floor where all was happening, even after the journalists had identified themselves.

It would be recalled that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) had recently announced A PUTATIVE restructuring of the boards of five DisCos which the Discos were alleged to have been done without inviting any of them to a meeting prior to the announcement which was widely circulated in the media.

The duo had explained that the announcement followed Fidelity Bank's activation of the call on the collateralised shares of Kano Electricity Distribution Company, Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company and BEDC Electricity Plc (the DisCos) in a bid to take over the respective Boards of the DisCos over the alleged inability to repay loans obtained to acquire majority stakes in the DisCos in furtherance of the 2013 privatisation exercise.

Consequently, the management of BEDC had responded by issuing a press statement explaining that there was no contractual, statutory or regulatory basis for the takeover and appointments.

The company stated that, "For the avoidance of doubt, the shares of BEDC have not been given as security to Fidelity Bank or to any other party."

According to the management of BEDC, it was "Vigeo Holdings Limited (VHL - a non-shareholder of BEDC)" that "obtained credit facilities from Stanbic IBTC Bank Limited, Fidelity Bank Plc, and Keystone Bank Plc (the VHL Lenders)."

It noted further that the said credit facilities (and any enforcement action in relation thereto) have in the meantime become subject of litigation in a Court action instituted by VHL and other plaintiffs (the VHL Action) with Suit No: FHC/L/CS/239/22 - Vigeo Holdings Limited and 4 Ors v. Stanbic IBTC Bank Limited, and therefore, subjudiced."

Worried by the development, Vigeo Power Limited, the majority shareholder of BEDC had filed a suit and obtained injunctive orders at the Federal High Court in Abuja to restrain Fidelity Bank Plc, HENRY AJAGBAWA, and THE other co-defendants from taking over BEDC pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice dated July 8, 2022.

The other defendants are Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), K.C. Akuma, Adeola Ijose, Charles Onwera, Henry Ajagbawa and Yomi Adeyemi.

The only strong position left for zone A is ministry of finance and now that Lolo has taken to zone B, where is brother in law, the short man is from, hope the nupe will believe us now that Lolo hate Nupe people this man did not construct Bida road for over 7yrs even the NNPC money he has diverted it to kontagora road, the commissioner of agriculture has resigned out of frustration. The short man is the one dictating for Lolo and a Nupe lapai man among the cabals is supporting them to destroy zone A, although that one can do anything for money since Kure regime. Even shaitan is afraid of those people.

Somebody who refuse to finish the electrification project for 17yrs is not ashamed, you ate the money of a project that will benefit your people. Shame on you mr man. Ordinary building of the new house of assembly is now up to 6yrs only God knows how many times they collected money for that project. God is watching. Politics / Amaechi, Ready To Bring Forth A New Thinking Towards A New Nigeria. by Oluwolex2000(m): 9:02pm On May 20, 2022
Amaechi, ready to bring forth a new thinking towards a new Nigeria.

In a matter of days, when all is said and done, about 23 APC members of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress APC will slug it out to determine who will be the flag bearer in the presidential race come 2023 elections.A peep into the long list of aspirants show that it is a gathering of contenders while some of them are simply put, pretenders.

Visible on the list of contenders is no other person than the immediate past Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, who unquestionably is the most-experienced in the race, having not just held different offices in the past 23 years, but has remained in government for that stretch of time since the return of civil rule in 1999.

Today,at the mention of his name send jitters as Amaechi is reputed to be someone who knows the game, particularly when it comes to palace politics, his capacity and competence over the years have been tested and he proven to all that he is the right man for the job.

Since declaring for the office of the president,Amaechi has shown to be a force to be reckoned with in the campaign for APC ticket so far,he is not only visible, he has transverse the length and breath of Nigeria including states where he is expected to be confronted by hostile delegates or where certain political big wigs have as their base, putting Lagos and Kano in view, yet Amaechi displayed traits that shows that he is the kind of person Nigeria needs at this time in her national life. he is fearless, efficient, hands-on, competent, God-fearing and compassionate.

The man Amaechi is a true Nigerian and extremely unbiased when the issue is Nigeria,he never shied away from expressing his personal opinion no matter whose ox is gored hence it can be concluded that he has all it takes to address Nigeria’s most disturbing challenge, insecurity. He set an example in Rivers State during his tenure as governor when kidnapping, political killing and other violent acts were like order of the day,he got to work and in record time made Rivers state a safe place to reside, and can repeat same in Nigeria.

Another plus for an Amaechi presidency is the fact that he has the most useful experience in governance and government, after spending unbroken 23 years in power,He previously served in oil-rich Rivers State as Governor of Rivers State from 2007 to 2015 and Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2007. He became Minister serving under President Buhari till April 9, 2022,when declared interest to contest in the Presidential election in 2023 This is someone who rose from nowhere to where he is is divine and cannot be thrown away. He is indeed a national asset.

A review of the role he played in the emergence of President Buhari, not leaving anything to chance and at personal risk, shows he has earned the absolute trust of the north across the board. His title, Dan Amanar Daura, is a testament.Amaechi is that one candidate with the most visibility to unify Nigeria, showing staggering understanding of the dynamics of her fault lines,so if addressing the concerns that bind Nigerians together is genuinely a desire of all, then, experience cannot be overemphasized and Amaechi is number one here.

For those with a genuine desire that 2023 should bring forth a new thinking towards a new Nigeria with bright young minds in charge,a vote for Amaechi is a right step towards making that dream a reality. No doubt, Amaechi typifies the story of the average Nigerian and one that everyone can relate to.

Presidency: Bode George Says Tambuwal Is Ready As Ondo, Oyo PDP Vows To Deliver Bloc Votes

Prominent leader of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] Olabode George has said leading presidential aspirant of the party, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has come of age to be president of Nigeria.

The Lagos state PDP strongman who stated this while receiving Governor Tambuwal at his private office in Ikoyi, went down memory lane to 2014, he urged Mr Tambuwal who was Speaker of the House of Representatives to run for Sokoto state governorship in place of the Presidency which Mr Tambuwal was considering then.

"Let me take you back a bit. In 2014, you came to me and said, oga, I want to run for presidency but I remember telling you "Kadan-Kadan". That the time is not ripe yet and you should go for sokoto governorship instead which you did and obeyed me. but now, the time has come. Governor Tambuwal, now you are ready for presidency."

Speaking further, Mr George added that Governor Tambuwal posses the right character, competence and  temperament to handle a multi dynamic and complex Nigeria.

In Ondo, Governor Tambuwal was received by the immediate deputy governor of the state, Agbola Ajayi as well as well as the state PDP chairman, Fatai Adams.

“I appeal to your conscience to be fair to your party and the people of Nigeria. Do not compromise under any guise the trust given to you to go and nominate people that can win election for our party.

“If we want to win 2023, you have a task for supporting a ticket that is electable and a pan Nigerian ticket. Ondo will play a central role in our government,” he said.

The presidential hopeful said he is a pan Nigerian that would deliver the dividends of democracy that Nigerians had been yearning for.

Engaging the delegates in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, Tambuwal said he would ensure that equity and transparency reign, if given the opportunity to get the PDP ticket and wins the presidential election.

He said that insecurity and other challenges would be addressed to ensure that lives and property of every Nigerian were secured.

2023: I Will Strengthen Amotekun, Restructure Nigeria, Tambuwal Tells Osun, Ogun Delegates

Engaging delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun and Ogun states, leading Presidential aspirant of the PDP, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, has revealed that as part of his restructuring plans, he would strengthen and expand the South-West Regional security Network popularly called Amotekun as well as restructure the country.

Governor Tambuwal who spoke at the PDP secretariat in Osogbo on Wednesday said insecurity is a big issue and strengthening the South-West Security Network for proper policing and possible adoption as state police is a major part of his plan.

In his words; " Insecurity is a major issue across the country and for the south-west and as part of my believe in restructuring, I will strengthen Amotekun and possibly adopt it as a state police for the region."

Speaking on restructuring, the governor said the nation cannot shy away from restructuring even though it means different things to different people.

"Restructuring differs across the regions but we must come forward and argue it. I present my fact, you present yours and we find a common ground to achieve it. Devolution of power to states is a must if we must progress in Nigeria."

The governor who later proceeded to the residence of Senator Demola Adeleke, to congratulate him on his affirmation by a federal high court in Osogbo as the validly elected candidate of the PDP for the July 16 governorship election.

In Ogun, the chairman of the PDP governors' forum said providing conducive business environment to expand industrialisation in Ogun as well as agriculture are his plans for the state should he emerge as President of Nigeria.

"Honourable Ladi Adebutu is here and he can confirm that conducive business environment is what business men needs. This I know and I will ensure I provide for proper expansion of industrialisation in Ogun state. Of course like I said in Osun, State police is a must. We must give more powers to the states if we must develop as a nation."

Engaging the delegates further, the former speaker said he has the right qualities to lead Nigeria and want the delegates to vote with clear mind devoid of sentiments.

" We must circumspect in electing who becomes our flag-bearer. We cannot afford to experiment again. We need a president who can engage his peers in international politics and with the right network. We need a president who has the right temperament, capacity, competence and if you look at all of these factors, i check the box.

"I'm well qualified to lead Nigeria. With my background as a lawyer and a life bencher, 12 years legislative experience and 7 years as governor of Sokoto state, I know what the issues are and i will assemble the best team across the length and breathe of our Nation.

He added that he his a team player and "my colleagues who served with me in the House of Representatives can serve as my referees. I ran an open, transparent House. I will do that if you elect me as our party's candidate".

Politics / Tambuwal Engages PDP Delegates In Kogi, Niger, Gombe, Vows To Be Effective by Oluwolex2000(m): 10:42am On May 17, 2022
Tambuwal Engages PDP Delegates In Kogi, Niger, Gombe, Vows To Effectively Explore Natural Resources, Tackle Epileptic Power failure

Delegates and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] in Kogi, Niger and Gombe states interacted with the leading PDP presidential aspsirant and governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, yesterday at their various state secetariates.

Governor Tambuwal and his entourage led by chairman of his Presidential Campaign council, Senator and Rtd General Tunde Ogbeha arrived Lokoja the Kogi state capital at about 12 noon in continuation of his nationwide consultations with PDP stakeholders and delegates, retirated that rebuilding Nigerian and fostering national unity for economic growth remains the focus on his campaign.

Specifically, the former speaker of House of Representative noted that addressing issues according to the need and want of each state is the best approach to developing the nation.

In his words; " I know what the issues are. I have addressed national issues as the Speaker of the House of Representative. While I was speaker, I made your son the chairman of House committee on Steel and Mining even though he wanted something else. I told him, go and oversee it and fix Ajaokuta for your people. So I know the legal issues, international influence and dianamics on Ajaokuta.

He added that insecurity is a nationwide issue and even though he his a governor, there are limits to what he can do.

“No doubt the issue of insecurity is a national issue, but it has worsened under the present administration. Any attempt to vote for an APC aspirant or candidate will worsen Nigeria’s situation. Nigeria should know that APC will continue with Buhari’s bad leadership and under-development,” Tambuwal pointed out. “This will not go down well for our country as there is hardship in the land. We must not lose hope in this nation. Nigeria will rise again as we need a leader who will unite and not divide us.”

He further noted that the eight years of the APC were horrible compared to the 16 years of PDP in power, stressing that the judiciary is currently under attack.

Mr Tambwal was received in Kogi by former governors of the state, Captain Idris Wada and Ibrahim Idris popularly called Ibro as well as the state PDP chairman and state working committee.

In Minna, the state capital of Niger, Senator Zainab Abdulkadir Kure, the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state was full of encomium for the visiting Presidential aspirant.

Not only did she describe Mr Tambuwal as candidate who can unify the country and bring meaningful development to Nigeria.

On his part, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal described the commissioning of the Baro Port by President Muhammadu Buhari as dubious, saying “Buhari played you 419!”.

According to him: “What President Muhammadu Buhari did to Niger State when he came for the commissioning of the Baro Port that is not in existence is 419. “Today as I am talking to you, is there anything like Baro Port working? The APC government, led by Buhari, did Niger State 419, they lied because they wanted to get votes.”

"Niger is home to the 3 major electricity source but the state barley enjoys steady power supply. This will not happen under my watch. If we fix power, industries will spring up, jobs will be created and automatically, that takes care of one of the root cause of insecurity in Niger and Nigeria," he added.

In his response, the Niger State PDP Chairman, Barrister Tanko Beji said the delegates will not consider any presidential aspirant who did not visit the state to consult with them.

Accordingly, he said: “Anyone who visits us has shown that he respects us. It is disrespectful to assume the people would give their votes without consulting with them.

“We have agreed that any Presidential Aspirant who will not visit Niger State will not be considered to get any of our votes. Because you have come here today, we will consider you based on what you have told us. We believe that you will keep your word.”

Beji stated that Nigeria needs rescue and needs an energetic president who will be able to unite every tribe and religion adding that Tambuwal is the one who can achieve this.

Arriving Gombe, Mr Tambuwal's entoruaged move the residence of the former state governor Hassan Dankwambo before heading to the Gombe state PDP secretariat where he engaged with delegates of the party on the need to cast their vote for him come May 28.

The Gombe state PDP chairman, Abnor Kwaskwabe (rtd), who spoke on behalf of the state executive working committee said "With your track record as Speaker House of Representatives and now a serving Governor we know you have the requisite experience and crescent to stir the course of Nigeria alright."

He added that should Tambuwal emerge as PDP presidential flagbearer, the PDP will reclaim gombe from APC.

Politics / Deepening Democracy, No Anointed Aspirant In Niger State: by Oluwolex2000(m): 2:22pm On May 14, 2022
Deepening Democracy, No Anointed Aspirant in Niger State: The Exemplary Way of Abubakar Sani Bello.

By Abdullberqy U Ebbo

As the whole nation goes agog ahead of the 2023 general elections, political stakeholders are looking to secure their foot in new administrations by forging alliances. While these are all of different ideologies and diverse identities, they all have a thing in common: none of them wants to support a losing side.

But there is no knowing what side is the winning one. But there are indicators. For example, one can guess considering where the support of the Governor of the ruling party lies. In niger state however, it’s a futile effort trying to guess where the Governor belongs because, in truth, he belongs to everybody and belongs to nobody.

In a number of states across the country many Governors have anointed their chosen candidates, and all party members have been advised to work for the emergence of the chosen one in the primary and general elections.

In Niger State, however, Governor Abu Sani Bello has refused to disrupt the level playing ground by anointing anybody, this is unprecedented in the history of our democracy, the Governor has remained neutral insisting that the will of the people must be allowed to excel. He maintained that, Nigerlites must be allowed to choose for themselves and the process of ensuring that cannot and should not be disrupted. Governor Abu Sani Bello will not impose anyone on the people of Niger state. A move that’s earning him love from political analysts and indeed Nigerlites.

For Governor Bello, this has been a consistent behavior since he appeared in the political scene. His Excellency has never frustrated the democratic process by denying actors a level playing field nor the people their preferred choice. If anyone followed past elections in niger state under the supervision of Governor Abu Sani Bello, he or she should know the Governor is not in the business of imposing anyone on people. The last local government council elections clearly demonstrated that, no single Council Chairman or Councillor was anointed by the Governor. His choice is always the peoples’ choice.

There are examples too many to mention where the Governor has maintained neutrality to ensure a level playing field. And as we are ready to go into the primaries, it appears Governor Abu Sani Bello would stay true to his resolve and further deepen the democratic process of the APC in Niger State by setting a beautiful example of how a leader should be.

...AKS revenue to rise as virgin coconut oil sells at $1326 per barrel- Gov. Emmanuel

... Refinery a uniquely creative, futuristic innovative venture - Ex Gov Suswan

The Akwa Ibom State Government on Friday commissioned it's multi billion dollar Coconut Oil Factory with the capacity to process one million nuts a day. The refinery located in Ikot Akpan Okop, Mkpat Enin Local Government, Akwa Ibom State is a multi value chain mechanism that will not only diversify production but also triple returns on investment, the Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel has declared.

The inauguration of the St. Gabriel Coconut Oil Factory which took place on Friday, was performed by Senator Gabriel Suswan, former Governor of Benue State.

Speaking at the event, Governor Emmanuel said the landmark project which is the first of its kind in Africa is a combination of Asia and European technology built to transfer skills and develop the youths, and will earn the state high revenue as virgin coconut oil costs higher in the international market than crude oil.

He noted with delight that the coconut oil factory which will be a major foreign exchange earner is expected to create employment for the teeming youths, and will diversify the economy of the state.

Hear him, “Today you are going to witness the first of its kind, you cannot find this kind of factory in Africa that is refining virgin coconut oil with the capacity to process one million nuts a day in three shifts."

"Today we are aware that in the international market virgin crude coconut oil goes for $6 per liter and 221 liters makes one barrel and if the much talked about crude oil is about $110 per barrel it means that virgin coconut oil is $1326 per barrel which is higher than crude oil. Soon everyone is projecting that the demand for crude oil will dwindle in future and we would have been prepared for the future”.

Governor Emmanuel assured the host community of training the youths, saying “the technology you are seeing here is a combination of Asia and European technology in order to transfer skills and then develop our people.

Politics / 2023 Presidency: Security, Economy Restructuring Will Be My Focus - Tambuwal by Oluwolex2000(m): 2:07pm On May 12, 2022
2023 Presidency: Security, Economy Restructuring Will Be My Focus, Tambuwal Tells Forum of Ex-PDP NWC

Leading presidential aspirant and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has reiterated that security and the economy will be his main focus area should he emerge as the flag bearer of the People’s Democratic Party [PDP] and subsequently President of Nigeria.

Mr Tambuwal gave this indication yesterday in Abuja, in continuation of his engagements with stakeholders and delegates of the People’s Democratic Party [PDP] when he met the forum of the former National Working Committee of PDP who are delegates at the May 28 convention. He was accompanied by Senator Tunde Ogbeha, Former governor of Sokoto Attahiru Bafrawa as well as Deputy Governor of Zamfara state, Mahadi Aliu Gusau.

Speaking on the issue of insecurity in Nigeria, Governor Tambuwal said he would personally present a bill for the creation of state police to the National Assembly.

“The main reason why we have so much insecurity is lack of political will. If you say you need the approval of the US government to buy certain ammunition, do you also need their approval to recruit more men into the police, Army and other security agencies? Do we also need US approval to train and retrain our security men?

“What is the firepower of the bandits and other terrorists? In the absence of these sophisticated weapons, can’t we get the AK 47 and other not so sophisticated weapons?

“We must also address the root cause of insecurity like jobs, marginalisation and the rest. If we address marginalisation, we won’t have the issues we have in the South-East. How can there not be someone from the South-East in the 8 top positions of this country? Under my watch, that cannot happen. I had done it before as Speaker of the House of Reps where all zones were considered when we constituted committees. My colleagues are still alive; you can ask them.

Speaking on the economy, the former speaker said the current administration of President Buhari has rubbished whatever gain the PDP government made in the last 16 years adding that he would pay constant attention to the economy.

“We have done it before. We have the best hands in PDP to manage our economy. Not people who want to run for office and also manage our economy,” he said.

Similarly, on restructuring, Governor Tambuwal noted the idea of restructuring differs but stressed that what Nigerians want is inclusive and participatory government.

“Restructuring means different things to different leaders. For example, the appointments commissioners for RMAFC, Civil Service Commission, Federal Character, and Population commissioner should be done by the state and screened by the state House of Assembly with the power of recall. That is restructuring.

“State police is restructuring. But I don’t think it’s possible for Nigeria, at this time, to go back to the regional government. Therefore, we must pick the issues one by one to fix them to suit what Mr A sees as restructuring, What B sees as restructuring. and what C as restructuring.”

Tambuwal who also doubles as the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum promised the Forum of EX- NWC members that he would not abandon party men who will work for the victory of the party at the poll and run after technocrats noting that “We are all technocrats here. We have gone to the best of schools and excelled in our various fields. I as president will appoint people from within the PDP”.

Speaking on behalf of the members of the Ex-NWC forum, the Chairperson, Kema Chikwe, described governor Tambuwal as a leader who is ready to speak on issues and a truly detribalized Nigeria who for the past 8 or more years has been spending the Christmas holiday in the South East.

Other members of the Forum present at the consultative meeting include Adamu Mu'azu former PDP national chairman, Kola Ologbondiyan, Senator Ben Obi, Jude Okoye, Olisa Metuh, Abdullahi MaiBasira, Eddy Olafeso, amongst others.

Equally, Hon. Abdul Ningi, who described himself as an Atiku Abubakar man but noted that Tambuwal is one leader who can rebuild Nigeria and return PDP to power.

Politics / Metuh Urges Buhari To Seek Political Solution For The Release Of Nnamdi Kanu by Oluwolex2000(m): 2:31pm On May 10, 2022
Metuh Urges Buhari to Seeks Political Solution for the release of Nnamdi Kanu to end Southeast Unrest

….. Tasks South East PDP on Consensus Candidate

Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to adopt political solution that will lead to the release of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and end the degenerating restiveness in the South east region of the country.

Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday Metuh asserted that waiting for a legal solution and the continued use of military option is “rather worsening the situation and leading to violence and avoidable loss of lives adding that a political solution that involves dialogue and understanding of sensibilities will bring the desired peace in the region”.

Stating that the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu and use of force in the South east will not bring the desired solution, Metuh stated that such will rather “heighten hostilities and result in more bloodshed”.

Metuh urged the Federal Government not to repeat the mistake the nation made in the handling of the Boko Haram issue in 2009 when the sect’s leader, Mohammed Yusuf was killed extrajudicially; a situation that led to the escalation of violent conflict and insurgency in the North East.

He said Government should learn from the South African experience, where the incarceration of Nelson Mandela and use of force against agitation did not solve the problem but led to more economic and social crisis until the Government of South Africa applied a political solution and brought lasting peace to that country

According to Metuh, the situation in the South east is very heartrending. It is worsening by the day with the creation of camps and imposition of illegal levies by faceless groups.

The continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, waiting for legal solution and the adoption of military option or use of force to suppress agitation have not helped. Instead, it is worsening the situation. It is coming at great cost to human lives and huge expense to the Federal Government. Meanwhile this is what simple political solution and dialogue will solve.

“Already, some unknown interests have hijacked the genuine agitation of the people and we can see the havoc such already causing the south East with the emergence of extortionist gangs and mafia groups who are now killing innocent people and blaming it on agitationists. Social and economic lives are being crippled and citizens are under siege.

“President Buhari must not let this continue, we must learn from our past. We mustn’t let the South East degenerate into another North East. We should learn from the South African experience where the incarceration of Nelson Mandela and use of force on the people did not solve the problem until the government applied a political solution. Only a political solution in the release of Nnamdi Kanu can solve the problem of the south east region” Metuh Stated.

Speaking on the chances of the South East picking the PDP’s presidential ticket, the former PDP scribe said the region must pick a consensus candidate so as to have the region’s bloc vote at the convention.

“For us to have an Igbo Presidential candidate in the PDP, we must present a consensus candidate. All the aspirants from the South east must sit down, and select just one aspirant and we can then negotiate with other regions and get the ticket,” he said.

“The PDP in South East must be able to build alliance with other regions in the south, that is South -South and South West. Then, we can convince at least one of the other regions in the North on the need to vote for our candidate. This is the best way we can achieve a PDP presidential candidate from the South East”, Metuh said.

"Whilst I concede that the PDP has an incredible array of excellent materials for the Presidency, we must accept that one of our own is rated as the best in the field by all and sundry. We should present him as our consensus candidate and seek the buy-in of other zones".

2023 Presidency: PDP Must Present A Strong Candidate Who Can Rebuild Nigeria - Olisa Metuh

Chief Olisa Metuh, a former national spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has made a call that the party must present a strong and sellable presidential candidate if the party must return to power in 2023.

The PDP chieftain who made the call when he appeared on Arise TV on Saturday morning noted that not only are Nigerians yearning for the return of PDP, but PDP represents the mind of Nigerians.

“We have the issue of zoning, where the candidate must come from, but for me, the presidency of Nigeria must be on the level of experience, somebody with the right trempament, someone who is acceptable to all sections of this country, all regions in Nigerian. someone who will bring us back to at least where we were as at 2015. not necessarily where the person comes from," the former scribe said.

"If you must talk about where the person comes from, equity demands that it should go to the south east. And south east has 3 of the best aspirant in the PDP. Whereever i go, Nigerians are saying Peter Obi and i believe he can take us to great heights.

"Governorance is not about your own capability, the people need a symbol and make their sacrifices and Peter Obi has that symbol but delegates election is different.

Mr Metuh who is also a lawyer said the country is grossly divided now over the issue of zoning because of the failure of President Buhari.

"Where we are right now, is not an issue is not where you come from, but the best candidate to win election for the PDP. Peter Obi is one of the symbol that can win elections for us but we have other who can equally win the election for us as well. In the absence of a national consensus, we have to bring the best who can get us vote across the country, we have Atiku, we have Tambuwal who has done well as a governor and chairman of the PDP governors forum.

"We need a unifyer, someone who has contacts across the nation, the right temperament and knows that he needs to be team player and have just two candidates who fits into this role but i won't reveal their names yet. The Delegates know if we must win election, then they are just two persons. One is Peter Obi and the second one is from the North. I will come back in a week or two to reveal that person."

Speaking on the political solution for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of IPOB, Mr Metuh said only a political solution for the release of Nnamadi Kanu can save the South East from becoming another North-East.

"If the government had made categorical statement before now, we wont be where we are now especially when we had the issue of herdsmen and others. Now to the issue of Nnmadi Kanu, if we believe the way we handled the issue of Boko Haram was a mistake, then we should change tactics and not repeat the same mistake with Nnmadi Kanu.

"Nnmadi Kanu is not just Nmadi kanu, he is a movement in the south east but some miscreat have takenoppportunity of that to inflict hardship on nigerians in the south east and introduce mafia like life like it happened in Italy.

"We need to dialogue with Nnmadi Kanu not as a person but because of the millions of people he controls and the Presient should have a rethink and have a political solution. A legal solution can take 5 to 10 years to finish a case and do we keep having sit at home? No. So at least for now, let the president sit down with Nmadi kanu and have political solution, any other thing is a dismissal of the problems we are facing right now."Olisa Metuh

Politics / 2023 Presidency: Tambuwal Receives Commendation Of PDP NWC, Vow To Rebuild... by Oluwolex2000(m): 3:31pm On May 06, 2022
2023 Presidency: Tambuwal Receives Commendation Of PDP NWC, Vow To Rebuild Nigeria

The presidential bid of Governor Aminu Tambuwal has received commendations from the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party following his visit to the NWC on Friday.

The Sokoto state governor restated that having served in different arms of government, as a lawmaker and executive governor, among other stints in public service, he has acquired sufficient knowledge, information and experience to be able to hit the ground running from day one if, by the grace of God, he is elected as president of Nigeria.

"The country currently needs a unifyer and believe I that with my experience, I check that box. if you look at my experience in national assembly where i have spent 12 unbroken years from being as member of House of Representative, to minirty leader, deputy chief whip and Speaker of the house, I have built friendship across the lengght and breath of the country. i belive i understand the problems of this country, i understand this country very well and i have a knowledge of its people and their concerns and i believe i can be that unifyer that will bring this country together and rebuild it.

Mr Tambuwal said he believes he's the youngest amongst the 17 aspirants in the PDP and he believes he is closer to the youths as well as the old and nothing that " the party delegates will look at him and see that he's fresh, younger and closer to the age "Soro Soke" generation" who are yearning for leadership. and vote for him."

"Not only that Mr chairman, I'm a party man at various times at local level, i have been legal adviser, organising secretary and currently the chairman of the PDP govenor's forum. I'm the bridge between the young and the old, the bridge that will connect all of every part of this country and Mr chairman knowing you, i nknow you will preside over a hitch free national convention, and a level playing field will be given to all of us so that whoever emerges, it will be easy for the party to rally round the person.

Mr Tambuwal was accompanied by the chairman of his Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, former Publicity Secretary of the PDP Chief Olisa Metuh, Zamfara state deputy Governor, Mahdi Aliyu Gusau, Former Minister of water resources and ex-deputy governor of Sokoto state Alhaji Muktar Shagari.

Speaking at the session, the chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyiohcha Ayu described Governor Tambuwal as one of the outstanding PDP governors and Presidential aspirants under the party.

He thanked Mr Tambuwal who he said midwife the emergence of the PDP NWC as well as his contribution to the growth of the party.

"You ran the House of Representatives at a very interesting time. You have a lot of members in the NWC who are familiar with you and members of your Constituency- the legislature.

"What Nigerians are crying for is quality leadership which you possess. We can all remember the case of Rwanda and we all thought the country had become a failed state but if you see what Rwanda has turned into under Paul Kagame, I'm sure you will all agree that's the product of quality leadership."

"It is true that you are one of those who are well prepared with your experience in the legislature, executive and legal background, you will run the country with the fear of God and rule of law. Nigerians are yearning for us to come back and we want to come back strong to solve the problems of Nigerians.

The former Senate President added that despite the pressure on the NWC will provide a strong platform and transparent party convention. "We have never had a controversial convention. We shall all gather in a place in Nigeria and give you a level playing ground."

"I'm happy you didn't attack any of your colleagues who are aspirants. That's the spirit we are preaching. We believe that whoever emerges, we will give him massive support. We are a Democratic Party. Not like the other party where a form cost 100m while ASUU is on strike.

He added that the party will campaign vigorously for whoever emerges as the flagbearer to ensure PDP wins the 2023 presidential elections stressing that the party will run the government collectively with visible leadership.

On his part, Sam Anywau, the national secretary who gave the vote of thanks prayed that God should lead Mr Tambuwal in his travel across the country adding that the PDP primary elections will be fair and hitch-free.

Politics / Exclusive: Dapo Abiodun Activates Secret Plot To Replace Yayi’s Men In Cabinet by Oluwolex2000(m): 12:35pm On May 03, 2022
Exclusive: Dapo Abiodun Activates Secret Plot To Replace Yayi’s Men In Cabinet

Embattled governor of Ogun state, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has perfected plans to remove appointees who are loyal to Lagos senator Olamilekan Adeola aka Yayi.

This is coming after it came to the governor's knowledge that the appointees, who constitute 60% of his cabinet, are working secretly on Yayi's governorship project in 2023 contrary to the popular belief that he is running for Ogun West senatorial ticket.

The governor was said to have been irked when he learnt over the weekend that these appointees, led by one of his top political advisers, had gone to present the party's membership card to the Lagos senator behind his back. Yayi was also said to have secretly purchased the governorship form in readiness for the battle ahead.

Though he is currently denying, our correspondent learnt that Yayi has been signalled by the strongman of Lagos politics to get ready to replace Abiodun.

The Lagos godfather is said to be livid with Abiodun after he publicly declared support for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo's presidential ambition against his Lagos benefactor.

Abiodun is said to be scared that if Yayi eventually decides to run against him, he would be left empty, hence the need to quickly oust Yayi's men from his government.

Already, a quiet plan, coordinated by the governor's top confidant in government has been activated to replace aides such as Tunji Egbetokun, Babatunde Olaotan (HBO) Shuaib Afolabi Salisu and all those associated with them.

Our correspondent learnt that some of these men have been encouraged to resign in order to contest elective offices in 2023; but this is a ploy to ease them out as the governor won't hand them tickets.

According to the APC primary schedule, the governorship primary comes before that of the National Assembly and as soon as Abiodun pocks his ticket, he would fully turn against Yayi's men who would have been badly weakened as they are no longer in government.

Our correspondent learnt that two top officials of Ijebu extraction, close to governor Abiodun, have been asked to commission the recruitment of trusted allies to replace those resigning.

This is being done through a HR staff of a Lagos-based consultancy services company where one of the top officials worked before Abiodun appointed him. The company has been handling the governor's multi-billion naira deals via phoney consultancy.

Udom Emmanuel greets Muslims, urges them to reflect on the virtues of Ramadan

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State and presidential aspirant on the platform of the People's Democratic party, PDP, has felicitated with Muslims as they celebrate Eid-il- Fitri.

In a statement released on his behalf by Bola Bolawole, spokesperson of the Udom Emmanuel Presidential Campaign Council, Gov. Emmanuel urged Muslims to reflect on the virtues of Ramadan for the well-being of the individual and the overall good of the society.

"The month of Ramadan is the month of forgiveness: we must learn to forgive and pursue peace with our fellow human beings.

"Ramadan preaches giving, especially from the rich to the poor: This promotes the idea of redistribution of wealth for a more equitable society.

"Ramadan is the month of holy living where the faithful run away from sin and live a life of piety and abstinence: This promotes spiritual development and draws us closer to our Maker.

"Ramadan is the month of fasting when we deny ourselves, share in the pains and experiences of others: This promotes a better understand of the suffering of others and the inequalities prevalent in our society.

"All these lessons learnt during the Ramadan period are not expected to end with it but to form an integral part of our daily living.

"These are virtues beneficial to Muslims and non-Muslims alike", he said.

Gov. Emmanuel then reiterated that our society will be a better place if we live our lives in accordance with the virtues preached at Ramadan.

"Problems of insecurity, the scourge of corruption and other social vices bedevilling our country will be a thing of the past if we imbibe the spirit of Ramadan.

"The spirit and letters of Ramadan will help build a just and fair society where human life is valued and where the rights of the weak are not trampled under foot by the strong.

"If we abide by the tenets of Ramadan, truth and justice will prevail in our polity, and bigotry of all hues will be eschewed by our people"

Emmanuel then enjoined Muslims not to despair despite the harsh economic and social conditions of the moment but to continue to pray to God to intervene in the affairs of the country.

"Keep hope alive. Help is on the way", he added.
