Ammishaddai:Not my expectations. The truth. I don't stay in a cave, I have been close to lots of people, many who practice religion just for the sake of people saying hey, he is a Christian or Muslim, some who practice one then at different times practice 3 more, some who just go by the name without believing. Those who are actually religious are few. And you rarely see them online bashing other faiths. Superstition is different from being religious or spiritual. 2 Likes |

Loreettaa: I was an atheist before 2014 so I don't know where they got that figure from. That being said, there are real atheists in Nigeria, hiding in plain sight. Unlike Christians and Moslems they tend to mind their business. This will make it really hard to count them. Especially the ones in the North. 5 Likes |

Minemrys:Oga, you failed to understand that the average Nigerian(whether Muslim or Christian)is religious not because of hypocrisy, but because the foundation of his faith is established on the existence and manifestations of the power of gods in the form of idols. And whether you choose to acknowledge it or not isn't a matter we ought to dispute because each and every person has his own twisted interpretation of what is true . |

Juoflife1: That's just the first step. What made you stop going to church or being too religious? You felt it wasn't necessary right? You convinced yourself that you needed to "find God by yourself". You're still scared of hell fire. The moment you take another step further and question the bible, the lies become obvious. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Imagine a northerner atheist stuck up north, I'm not denying the fact that there could be closed doors free thinkers there but the truth of the matter is most are largely from the other regions holed up in the north. P.S: I support freedom of belief but we all know the north see things differently. 2 Likes 1 Share |

It's over 8yrs I stopped going to church and nothing has changed. I know God exist and I reference him. I just don't believe any man or woman can lead me to God. I can do it myself kingxsamz: |

Let me say that atheism is a western word, coming out of European heathens. It's not African. In African tradition, there's no word for atheist or atheism because our ancestors understood that man/woman cannot be separated from the God force/spirit. All you have to do to understand the intimacy of our ancestors and the God force is check the wording of our names. In ancient time, even our names were partly God. Example in Igbo:- CHIdi CHIka CHIgozie CHIbuzo CHInenye OnyebuCHI ete. Example in Yoruba:- OLUWAseun OLUWAfumi etc. You can pick any African tribe you want and check the names and it'll be clear to you that nothing happened without God as long as our ancestors were concerned. For an African to call himself/herself an atheist, note that you're only being an atheist in rejection of the European or Arab gods, and that's a good thing. I, myself don't believe in the bible or Koran god anymore but I am not an atheist. I know I am god himself and don't need a God. You can NEVER be an atheist as an African because Africans are God by default. We Africans created God- literally. I think I'll blog about this and talk about it in full one of these days. Africans are Gods!! 7 Likes 1 Share |

Remman: Funny guy. The fact that you'd scream "Jesus" like your life depends on it in a life threatening situation doesn't mean it's like that for everyone. An atheist won't even bother saying that name to be saved from their misery. Looking up to imaginary people for help is that last thing that'll ever come to my mind when I know those things don't work. I'd rather call Santa Claus instead. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Your statement is based on your ignorance of history. Looking at the current lifestyles of the people in the West and making such a judgement is due to your refusal to study how these countries came about. Western education was brought to Nigeria by missionaries from Great Britain. The United States was established by people who wanted to worship God without persecution due to the different religious belief of the King of England. You actually know nothing about the topic you are talking about. The current generations in the West are enjoying the fruit of the labour of all the people who lived and died over the past hundreds of years. And almost all of those people were religious. The same can be said for the Middle East and Asia Mavrick2012: 1 Like |

The more despondent a people are, the more religious they become. At the lowest ebb and with no hope of betterment, a 'god' seems the most effective way out. Realtalk20: 4 Likes |
