Adoption. This gives an opportunity for those who choose not to have children to live as parents and have their own children

Marry and have your children after all life's all a risk, if any or all of them are SS then be ready for likely hospital admissions, repeated blood transfusions, incessant bills for hospital care, and uncertainty of the child growing to be an adult, and the guilt of prior knowledge wit no action


Walk away: painful as it sounds if u cannot adopt any of these options please walk away, most marriages in Nigeria do not survive these ordeals...

The best option available is to break up because the other options you seek are synthetic and you will have to live with such for the rest of your life and they are also quite expensive too!
1)bone marrow transplant: this cost about $34000 in India.
2)antisickling reversal or inhiting agents: erythropoeitin; hydroxylurea-it has been shown that this drug stops the production of haemoglobin S(responsible for the sickling activity) and induces the production of haemoglobin F(which is not susceptible to sickling).
NB:the person will have to live with this drug for the rest of his/her life.
3)Genetic surgery: I dont know much about this.

In conclusion,PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE!

I believe God gave us the knowledge of medical science for our use and so we can make our lives better. He does not have to show up in our lives, he gave us knowledge so let's use it.

Let's not play religion with this. The good LORD gave us brains so we don't have to come to him every now and then. It is not about the lack of faith. It is about doing the right thing.

And let's not forget that it is a sin to not do the right thing even when we know what the right thing is.

Also, our level of faiths are different. I know a couple in my church both AS but never had SS children. It is advised that AS and AS should not marry because when you know and you do it deliberately, you are tempting GOD.

@op, take heart, I once found myself in that shoe of yours. If you must marry that person, consider adoption. You will only be putting smiles on the face of some orphans and that can't be a bad thing.

3. through bone marrow implant sickle has is now managed(its a new discovery though and might be very costly and hard to get ..... but its Worth considering)
4. common sense (the probability of having as is one in four which means it could be the first,second,third, or fourth child... so if u r planning to have just one or two offspring you might just go out unscathed)

last words : a combination of one or two options above can help you . please don't marry a gal cos she is aa. AA is no guarantee of her love, fertility or personality

The question should be "Options Available For Same A.s Genotype Couple interested in having children."

There are tons of same genotype couples, not least AS couples, out in the world with no interest in procreation.

I would advice you save yourselves the stress, but if you are hell bent on marrying each other, there is the option of PRENATAL DIAGNOSIS (done when the woman is afew weeks pregnant). It comes with its own risks and unpleasant experiences.

Another option is to take the adoption route. Whichever way, i'ld advice you choose wisely.
