abatically:

Can u tell me who the better and experienced players are? A team is not built on individual effort, all players have to be in sync and if the coach feels a particular player will ruin his flow of football or dressing room, would u rather he use the player and disrupt his pattern of play or bench him? No player is bigger than the team.. it took Low 8 years to build the German team that won the world cup. You seem to forget we didn't smell AFCON for 19 years until keshi came . Keshi deserves to be given enough chance dude.

Mourinho sold Mata (who was their best player in 2 years) because he thought he does not fit in his team. Redondo was dropped from Argentina team from 1998 world cup even though he was one of their best players. My point is no player is indispensable, a good coach has stamp authority and discipline into his team. Let them sack Keshi and employ whoever, I can tell u its back to square one and that new coach will be sacked after the nations cup and the cycle will just continue.

Thank you, I like people that argue with facts but sometimes these facts can be faulted, no player is bigger than the coach talk less of the team-fact,
Was Ik, Osaze, Mba all dropped at on time or the other all because of disciplinary issues? or just to stamp the big boss' authority?
With mata Chelsea won The champions league ,FA cup and Europa league consecutively when He was benched and subsequently sold what did Chelsea win?
The difference is that Chelsea have a better team now but can we really say that SE is a better team now without the ousted players?

Victor ikpeba has lost it. check out the dude''s analysis on super sports, its always lacking in depth. he has no good command of English and his pronunciation is just so so. Sometimes, i wonder why super sports crew invites him. As a player back in the late 80's, he was so so selfish. he does not pass the ball to his team mates and always wants the spotlight on him. Look at ex-internationals like Nwankwo, Oliseh Okocha, they stand out. Their analysis are always sound. They exude faith and confidence in the Nigeria football project and where the need arises to criticize, its always constructive. Keshi as a coach does not want to be held to ransom by any player, no matter how big such a player is. Nigeria will definitely qualify for the next nations cup.

I disagree with ikpeba. ikpeba is already panicking which is welcomed as a super eagles fan but he as a former professional knows that what the super eagles need now is our 100% support, his outburst is not helping the eagles.
My word to ikpeba is to keep calm and quiet and support Keshi and the super eagles.

are u still listening to ikpeba? I stopped listening to football coaches in dstv studios long time ago. I almost passed out the day people started saying that oliseh should coach eagles because of his tv analysis.
Sunday Oliseh is a UEFA "A" Licensed coach.

In summary I am not advocating that Keshi be sacked cos he has done a lot for us but Should be checked so as not to destroy all he has sacrificed with his ego.
The NFF should stand up to their duty and should be held accountable for every assignment I love what Ghana is doing to GFA presently.
We don't really have much options than to prevail on the big boss to bend or even tweak his tactics a little so that we can all move forward. over and out.

hayoakins: The former African player of the year has criticized the Big Boss for his selection ahead of the crunch qualifiers against Sudan this month

Former Nigeria forward Victor Ikpeba has lashed out at coach Stephen Keshi over his decision to call up ‘rookies’ for the must-win pair of 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan this month.

The Super Eagles, reigning African champions, could miss out on defending their title in Morocco if they fail to win both matches after starting on a wrong footing last month.

Nigeria lost 3-2 to Congo in Calabar before pulling a listless goalless draw in Cape Town against South Africa and sit third on the table with a single point out of a possible six.

While the out-of-contract Keshi insists he is still building a good squad by handing fresh call ups to several new players, Ikpeba has raised the alarm over the possibility of the country missing out on qualifying due to the Big Boss’ self-serving posturing.

As part of his 24-man squad for the double-header against Sudan, Keshi called up Aaron Samuel of Guangzhou R&F in China, Emmanuel Sunday on SV ScholzGrodig, Austria, Anyora Ugonna of Haugesund FC, Norway and Hope Akpan of Reading FC, England. The 52-year-old has ignored more experienced campaigners Ikechukwu Uche of Villareal, Obafemi Martins of Seattle Sounders and new kid on the block Kelechi Iheanacho of Manchester City.

“For how long will Keshi build the Eagles,” Ikpeba who won the African Player of the Year award in 1997 asked in a Vanguard interview.

“He has been building this team since 2012 and still wants to continue building in 2014. No. What type of builder is he? His success in South Africa where he won the Nations Cup was a collective effort.

“He has placed us on the hard corner of qualification for the Nations Cup in Morocco. While Nigerians are gritting about their chances, he has invited rookies for the must win matches against Sudan. Keshi needs to ask himself questions. He should be a critic unto himself.

“He is either blaming the players or attacking even ex-internationals who criticize him.

"He has invited rookies to the national team. He is busy excluding the best players because of his personal interest. My brother, Keshi has lost it,” Ikpeba said.

The fate of the coach who led Nigeria to their third African title in 2013 will largely be determined by his side's performance over the two legs with Sudan as the new Nigeria Football Federation board takes charge.

Nigeria will travel to Khartoum to play the first leg on October 11 before returning to Abuja for their first match there since 2011 on October 15.

Congo will take on South Africa for an opportunity to cement their leadership of qualifying Group A during the same period.

Ikpeba! Ikpeba!! How many times did I call you.... If u want to seek Amaju's attention u don't start this way what you are saying is beyond normal criticism it seems u are among those that doesn't want to see keshi retain that position why speaking ill and defeat of a crutial game like this. Even if he fails to qualify of which I know he will he still remain a hero collective or no collective effort. I can I imagine what was ur statement when he started slowly at the afcon I guess ur among the people who suggested they book their flight before the third game.

Ikpeba is entitled to his opinion n that should be respected
AOB1963: Let us cast our minds back, Keshi tends to start slowly. At the last AFCON he started with 2 draws and by the 3rd match, the Vultures were already circling him to tear him up, yet he won that cup.
At the last CHAN, he started with a defeat, and ended up with a Bronze medal.
At the World cup, we struggled against Iran and still ended up in the last 16 ahead of the likes of Ivory Coast, England and Spain.
Keshi has unearthed more new talents than any coach before him. We are singing the praises of Onazi, Musa, Omeruo, Babatunde, Oboabona and Oshaniwa today because Keshi preferred them to the known 'stars'
He will not only qualify us for AFCON, Keshi will defend the title. Let us not get carried away with the dooms day prophets like Ikpeba and their fifty-kobo journalists. It is sad that journalists continue to put their interview mics in front of loud-mouths like Ikpeba. He has personal issues with Keshi, so what do we expect him to say that is new. Both him and the Siasia they are clamouring for are dwarfs compared to Keshi and they know it.

Keshi does not have a particular style of play. He lack tactics and sorely depend on d individual brilliance of its players. We manage 2 qualify for d second round of d nations cup and went ahead 2 win it because of d players determination. I assure u we won't qualify with dis present tactics of everyday change.

I think on the whole nigeria landscape, you are the only right thinking sport knowledgeable person..

I would still keep relating this problem to Nigeria and Nigerians. We always want to build in a short while and thereby the result we get is "immer" (in the words of the deutsche) substandard.. i can count two handful of countries that have not sacked their coaches in 6years even without a won competition to their name....

What you fail to understand is that qualifiers are more difficult than the competition itself.

You have away matches to play in front of hostile crowd.
We are already in Oct and SE has only won one match in 2014
Re: Keshi Has Lost It - Victor Ikpeba by lusen(m): 7:53am On Oct 04, 2014
aspirebig: Ikpeba, well said. But remember that the same team building gave u chance in Monaco, where they later referred to u as "Prince", despite the fact that your father was NEVER a king in the city of Monaco.

The same team building gave chance to score the second goal against Brazil in Atlanta 96.

The same team building gave you chance in the SE squad, if you have a younger brother is among those invited, would you have said this same thing? Honestly, answer me ooo? That is Nigeria for you.

The last thing I check," Change is the only constant thing in life".

And, you don't change a winning team, but at as the last count, SE were far from being a winning team, the non rookies invited in the SE last two matches couldn't beat less rated and known Congo in our backyard in Calabar or SA in their home, in fact, SA nearly beat us. I know that there is no underdog in the world football again but the place of history cannot be totally be ignored. That is why most often, sports analysts go to fish record of teams past matches, how winning or loss does each has, and how many draws too.

The way the new coaches to come after Keshi will be criticised too, it is left to be seen. We are waiting,
Even our Afcon team last year were criticised b4 their match against Ivory Coast. Uneasy is the head that wears the cap...
Since the day of westerhof, all the Bert Volt, or what is hs name and Siasia, Amodu etc which of them has brought home Afcon Cup?

When Keshi has issues with player, it is always Keshi fault . When all saw what happened with
Osaze's case both with Keshi and WBA and how those white saddists in WBA and their sponsored jounalists nearly finished his career that non of the Epl clubs ever want to have anything with him again, despite his exploits in WBA. Till 2moro, Osaze remains the one of their best goal scorers in WBA, it is still in their books as record.

On the issue of Yobo, he later settled with the big boss and apologised, before he went the WCup in Brazil. Now, he has qiut the national team after his 100 caps record.Age is telling and guy has tried.

Uche brothers,I think their is being used as selling point for the newspapers sport pages. They should come and let this issue be addressed once and let's move forward.

As for Martins,Emenike, honestly I think those guys and Kelechi ihanachor should be in SE team now.All those guys that scored for Congo against Nigeria are young chaps. I do not agree with the big boss for excluding most of these guys in the team either.

As for Ideye, no comment.

Keshi is not perfect and so is every living soul.

Well said.

Your comments about his spoken English makes you sound like a hater. We are talking abt football not grammar mind you.

State your facts just as Ikpeba stated his, and leave the readers/listeners decide the person with the superior idea.

Ikpeba may be expressing worries just like most Nigerians are anxious that we qualify. And this is allowed.
Re: Keshi Has Lost It - Victor Ikpeba by Nobody: 7:59am On Oct 04, 2014
There are lots of 'women' on this thread. I only have one question to ask you all.

Who wants to qualify Nigeria for the Nations cup more? KESHI or Ikpeba.

If Keshi decides to call up a Secondary school team for qualifiers, I would sit back and watch, as much as I want to see Nigeria play in the Nations cup. I can't want that more than the man who is being paid and honoured if it happens.

Whether he fails or not, at least he tried to change things, and you don't blame a man. That's why we are unique beings, we can't all have the same solution to one problem. If his style doesn't work, perhaps, we would try an "Ikpeba-style" or another, I really don't mind.

Lastly, if you think you can coach better, forward your CV to NFF. I see what Keshi wants to achieve clearly, and I can see what Ikpeba is up to clearly. I appreciate the fact that Keshi takes his job personally. Let the man fail before you criticise! We can setup a new 'pannel' to investigate reasons for his failure later. Thank you.

And we should fold our hands and watch till he fails us?
Mind u we are not overlooking the successes he has brought us, even now, I don't even know of a better option considering the likes of Sia One and other coaches we 've had in the recent past (Am not an advocate of a foreign coach)
But we are saying he can do better with tested and proven legs in prosecuting sensitive assignments when it comes to friendlies we can test rookies.
