newguy1: One thing i hate about nigerian is dat we r 2 opionated, come on i dont see oda country nag about dir coach as us. U gave dis guy to job because u consider him d best among d lots so y dis. as far as i have seen he hasnt fail on us, won us a cup of nation got us to d 2nd round of wc. If he like let him bring okocha out of retirement to play for him d basics is he must not fail us.all dis ex players coming out to critise keshi, if dey can do better let dem com forward or dey should stop barking inside d fence..... Don't mind them. For 19 years we never won the nations cup. Since 1998 we have never won a game at the world cup not to talk of making it out of the first round, even with foreign coaches. Now someone came, an underdog, won the nations cup after 19 years, won a game at the world cup and the qualified for the second round. Got beaten by a tactically better team in France and we all come here and say he is clueless. We are expecting magic when we don't have the right players always looking for the slightest opportunity to sleign the coach even when our superstars like emenike, onazi etc under perform. Keshi is trying to build a team with players that will be loyal to him and play to instructions. If y'all don't like that then let them fire him and start again from square one, I am 100% sure his successor will be fired after the nations cup. 2 Likes |

Kingjames: Keshi had most of his team that played in the world cup for the last 2 qualifiers. The star players missing are only osazie who is injured and enyeama. The team played like crap. Whether we are a better team now with the new invites remain to be seen. We can only conclude after play a couple of games together, we need to chill, if keshi fails to qualify then they can fire him, but he deserves to be given a chance to do his job based on what he has achieved. 1 Like |

kristisking: Yes Keshi has lost it.He is too sentimental and does not listen to anyone.I think winning the last nations cup was what got into his head, forgeting that it was luck that won us the trophy.I'm very optimistic his days in the super eagles are numbered. How was it luck? So d display against ivory Coast was luck? 2 Likes |

I have said it over and over again Keshi is not fit to be a coach, he is too arrogant. I remembered back then it was the players that we always talk about but now the coach is also an attention seeker,he went as far as doing a peak milk commercial. That is why ex players are never good coaches especially those that still want to be on the spotlight. Keshi wants the players to kiss his ass because he has been there and done that, he has successfully made himself the star of super eagles. I hope he realizes soon that he is old and he should allow these boys to shine |
Re: Keshi Has Lost It - Victor Ikpeba by ayusco: 9:06am On Oct 04, 2014 |
First of the sad reality is that we Don't have many top players and many a coach would struggle to win something with these set of players so on that score keshi has done wonders. But let's be honest with ourselves the team has not been great lately. One win in our last eleven games, uninspiring play coupled with wrong sometimes baffling player selection eg taking uchebo, ameobi, Reuben Gabriel to world cup inviting some unknown from china, Norway whose record are not even great for such mediocre leagues. I have no issues with dropping players like MBA, ik uche, martins but he should pick players who are better to replace them. You can't tell me with our wide scouting network these are the best he could come up with. Like I said before Keshi has done very well but he is not indispensable. Great coaches who have lost the plot all over the world have been sacked so keshi won't be an exception. If the Nff decide not to offer him a new contract they should get someone else who will match or better his record that's the minimum standard Nigerians expect |

If and when we fail to top the group or at worst come second from that group, I'm pretty much certain that Keshi will get the boot. So, lets just stop all the arguments and wait to see what happens.I guess that Keshi is trying hard to make us believe that those rookies are better than Iheanacho probably because they "played ball" while Iheanacho and his father refused to ''play ball". Corruption is indeed endemic throughout every sector of our national life. The root of the problem stems from the lack of a well laid out policy from the NFF/Sports ministry on a timetable for the integration of the best talents from our age-group football teams into the super eagles. Why can't there be a policy that stipulates that 3 best players from the under 21 team and 2 best players from the under 17 side should be immediately integrated into the national team 6months after the age-grade competitions. This would have addressed this "Iheanacho" situation. |

abatically:There is no point bringing sentiments into the whole issue. Nobody is denying the fact that Keshi has recorded successes as the national team football coach. However, it is very clear that Keshi has allowed complacency and arrogance to get the better part of him. Just take a look at the Super Eagles from the World Cup till date and tell whether there is anything inspiring hope and confidence in the team. You keep citing coaches that dropped certain players prior to tournaments, but have you asked yourself whether we have the talent pool to grant Keshi the ill-advised luxury he wants to be enjoying? You demonise tested players like Ike Uche and Obafemi Martins, prolific goalscorers for the Super Eagles, and in their place you put the likes of Uche Nwofor, Shola Ameobi, Nnamdi Oduamadi and co. What kind of team are you building? Why hide under technical inadequacy to drag our football twenty years back? Do you watch Keshi in big matches and see that his team is almost on auto-pilot most of the time? Don't be carried away by our winning AFCON, after all a pedestrian Zambian team won the tournament as well. What do you say when a country like Greece is making steady progress in football while a supposedly football giant like Nigeria is still mired in stagnation? |
Re: Keshi Has Lost It - Victor Ikpeba by abatically(m): 9:28am On Oct 04, 2014 |
maestroferddi: Truth be told, ik Uche and martins have NEVER played well for the super eagles. They have been given enough chance and we are the same ones asking for others to be given a chance. England played badly at the world cup because they chose Gerrard even though it is obvious he is finished and he cost them against Uruguay. Now they are going the same downward path by making Rooney their national captain. Rooney being captain means automatic selection , where will he play? Sturridge is a better striker, sterling and Berkeley are better playmakers, chamberlain, welbeck and Walcott will do a better job at the flanks. U can see there is really no space for Rooney but they made him the captain because he is Rooney. This is the same thing happening in Nigeria. 1 Like |

Re: Keshi Has Lost It - Victor Ikpeba by maestroferddi: 9:47am On Oct 04, 2014 |
abatically:E be like say the Premiership abi na English national team you started following not so long ago is confusing you. Can you do a little research to confirm that the duo of Ikechukwu Uche and Martins are among our national top goalscorers of all time? So just because Uche had a below par performance at the last AFCON makes him a total flop? So current club form counts for nothing? Nigeria football will never get to the next level if we keep sensationalising issues instead of facing facts. 1 Like |
