95% tax rate for all religious houses.

Use the money to invest in cheaper/subsidized internet, a network of public libraries and a campaign stressing the benefits of knowledge acquisition/independent learning.

Charity work should be redefine here

You take money that people contributed for the upkeep of the church and provision for the less privileged and buy a jet which you later lease out to commercial business.

Charity work should be to keep the jet for full use by the church and less privileged who could not afford flight tickets.

Another
Capital development is much more expensive than recurrent expenses.
If you can build a university with church money then you can run the school with church money, the theory of 'paying staff cost money' doesn't permit the transfer of the burden to the church members whose money built the school.

It is a clear case of double taxation. After contributing to build the school, you are still contributing to the church and yet you are still force to pay the school fees. Money that would have made the school more affordable is channel into building another school to further milk the followers.

Church run businesses must be taxed. Schools, jets, publications, restaurants etc

Scammers. Even if they tax them they'll just start smuggling their money offshore. Probably doing it already. When you try to pray your way to prosperity, then you have pastors this rich and masses this stupid paying them.

Wherever you see poverty, religion is not far off. Nigerian pastors, making money out of the misery of Nigerians. This is a trait Nigerian pastors and politicians have in common.

Religious institutions represent the biggest industries in Nigeria. They get their money from peddling 'snake's oil' to a barely lettered populace. They then use the money derived to set up overpriced schools which they then offer to the same barely lettered populace. They are exploiting the mass ignorance endemic in a population that has put its faith in the supernatural due to the failings of the natural leaders.

i suppose the saying by the Scriptures that it will be much easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man making heaven got no meaning to out latter day ministers anymore. God bless sincere preachers who still preach holiness and not prosperity. big respect to Pastors Adeboye, Kumuyi, Enenche, Muoka, etc. by their designation alone you know what they are here for.

Little wonder every Tom, Dick and Harry now wants to be a pastor;even when the person cannot discern a simple analogy. They give varying analyses to the biible lines, causing more confusion than ever in the Christendom. New age churches are the major culprits, breeding short term christians everywhere, hoodwinking them into believing well-argued fallacies, while using the bible as their premise. Proliferation of churches(new generation pentecostal churches) is the bane of Christendom in Nigeria.

We use the income of the church to build schools, we use the income of the church to serve the needs of the poor," David Oyedepo, bishop of the popular Winners Chapel, told Reuters in an interview. "These are non-profit
organizations."
I don't know if Oyedepo deliberately wanted to deceive this guy or something. How many poor people attend these so called "Charity" schools they build

#Shame.

"Some of the churches can hold more than 200,000 worshippers and, with their attendant business empires, they constitute a significant section of the economy, employing tens of thousands of people and raking in tourist dollars, as well as exporting Christianity globally."

Exporting christianity globally

Church money is used for helping the needy and rendering which social services? Are their schools free of charge or their private jet used for public transportation? The 'mega religious merchants' should think of something less insulting to God to say. angry

TB Joshua, pastor of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, at the center of the recent diplomatic storm over the deaths in its guesthouse, was thought to have $10 million to $15 million.
