Again your logic that everything has to be in the bible for it to be true is wrong. For prove that mary is the ark of the convenant see this site www.catholic.com/magazine/articles/mary-the-ark-of-the-new-covenant
And again in previous post I see you using the situation where christ did not grant mary audience as prove. We Catholics have never claimed that praying through mary is a guarantee that what ever you ask will be granted. God alone know what's best but there is a better chance that he will listen to his mother just at the wedding feast in cannan. At this point I will like to say am tired and I'm no longer seeing the relevance of my posts as it seems am just circum navigating repeating what have said right from the start. Thank you.
You see yourself, u call yourself a Christian and you don't act according to what is written down in the Bible. Let me tell you something, "Once u ain't acting according to the Bible, then its not of God"

What I'm about to show here will offend many & surprise many more. But I appeal that whatever anyone feels, kindly read some books before commenting this way or that way. Hope we understand ourselves.

"If you know your history, then you will know where U're coming from"

Know this, the Catholic faith did not start the Mother & Child or Mary worship. They are ancient Babylonian pagan practises, which shows the influence that paganism has had in the Roman Catholicism development. That's why they create dogmas and all forms of beliefs to find a way to bring the Babylonian religions as close as possible to scriptures, an impossible marriage.

The Chinese had a mother goddess called Shingmoo or the Holy Mother. The ancient Germans worshiped the virgin Hertha. The mother goddes was known as Venus or Fortuna to her devotees in the olden days of Rome, and her child as Jupiter. Regardless of her name or place, a writer says "she was the wife of Baal, the virgin queen of heaven, who bore fruit although she never conceived.

In Ephesus, the great mother was known as Diana. The temple dedicated to her in that city was one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world. In Egypt, the mother was known as Isis and her child as Horus.

Those are not my findings, but those of historians. There are many books on the evolution of the Roman Catholic religion. But my reference is titled Babylon Mystery Religion, Ancient and Modern by Ralph Edward Wondrow.

Buy, read and clear your doubts.
People will write so many negative things about catholic. There are million accounts about the church, beware of what you read to poison your mind the more.

My God! so Mary was the one who choose to be the vessel and not God! so she can do and undo the plans of God because she has the freewill to do so? YOU Are lost! and by the way, she is not the mother of Christ in heaven. the risen Christ has nothing to do with her.
The way u understand written text is quite pitiable. I'd say one thing clearly in Englishh only for u to ascribe sumtin I didn't say as ur own interpretation of my written text. We aren't having this discourse just for the sake of argument. We are trying to uncover the truth. I neva said its not God who chose Mary to be d vessel. What I said was that God made her specially because he had destined her for the purpose of being the vessel. But she also had to surrender to God's will because she has free will and God doesn't make robots. She had a choice and she chose God's will.
You are revealing your true nature now by saying the risen Christ had nothing to do with mary....listen to yourself. Na u the risen christ have anytin to do with. I won't indulge u any further cause I now know you r only here to slander Mary and not learn. Quick advice....u dnt have to honour her but don't insult her person because you never know...Have a blessed day!

It's worth taking a look at the immaculate conception dogma. Yes she needed a saviour, hers was just done earlier by a singular act of grace from God, she was freed from original sin at conception. This all hacks back to gen 3 :15. As @nnatom implied, Jesus was conceived in Mary's womb and this had to be sinless. Adam and Eve were also created sinless so nothing God cannot do.
pls u re right,, if d world needs a savour dat does nt mean there can't be an upright man, or woman,,, that for instant when God was how bad d world has become and d need to wipe off humanity, there stll exist a an upright man in d name of Enoch who was upright but stll.... He can't make d majourity of sinners out there den wo needs a saviour for salvatio... Likewise during d time of Mary d world as became corrupt but d bible neva mentioned possibilities of getting an uncorrupt vessel for God work of salvation for d redemption of mankind,, like he raised also during d time of Noal,,, of which d bible latter explained his shortcommings like the bible those wth other upright men wo later fell short d glory of the lord but the bible never did in d case of Mary....

The catholic church's teaching is not based on the scriptures alone(sola scriptura). She also incorporates sacred tradition as passed down from the apostles(those that lived and walked with Jesus Christ) and their successors. Maybe this knowledge alone will help some of your protestants to understand some of the church's teachings.
Re: "What Does The Bible Say About The Virgin Mary?" by engrsoma(m): 7:40pm On Oct 12, 2014
I dont really Understand why we chrisrians have different doctrines, Is it that the bible is too difficult to understand or what?. The Heavenly race is a personal race. As a mature person I follow the dictates of the Bible. I am not under any Hold of protestants, Catholics or any other one. In judgment Day you wont give the excuse that it is your church that made you to bedoing this or that. Everything we have to do is in the Bible. FOLLOW IT!!.

Why do
Catholics Honor
& Love Mary ?

A1. She brought the Savior into the
World.
Mary said Yes! In Luke 1:26-35 The Angel
Gabriel appeared to the young Mary and
said that she would conceive a child and
he will be called “The Son of the Most
High.” Now Mary has free will, like all of
us, she could have said no. She could
have said find someone else, but what did
she say? In Luke 1:38 Mary answered
“Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord;
let it be to me according to your word.”
By her consent, by her free will Mary
united her will to the will of the Father
and brought the salvation of the human
race into the world in the person of Jesus
Christ. Think about it, without Jesus
Christ there would be no salvation for
mankind. Mary carried the God-Man, the
creator of time and space himself in her
womb. She agreed to provide him with
flesh and blood, carried him for 9 months
and nurtured him throughout his life.

A2. “Hail, full of Grace, the Lord is
with you!”

When the Angel Gabriel came to Mary
she was greeted with a royal greeting.
Luke 1:28 recounts Gabriel greeting Mary
by proclaiming “Hail, full of Grace, the
Lord is with you!” The Greek word for
Hail that is used here is a word that is
used to address royalty. Think of it, an
Angel, a being far superior to a human,
greeting a young girl with such respect
and awe; in other cases when an angel
approaches a human this is not the case.
This would imply that Mary is no normal
human being; God created her and
prepared her to carry his son, to be a
living tabernacle of the Lord.
“Full of Grace”, this is said by Gabriel to
Mary in Luke 1:38 before she even said
yes to be the Mother of God. This would
imply that she was full of Grace (God’s
own life and love) even before she had
Jesus in her womb. Like the pure and
untouchable Ark of the Covenant in the
Old Testament that held symbols of God,
Mary was made pure and full of grace in
order to hold the Word of God made
flesh, Jesus Christ
Mary was even given the grace she
needed for the encounter with the Angel
Gabriel. In Revelation 19 and 22 when an
Angel appears to John, he is confused and
mistakes him for God and begins to
worship him. When Gabriel appears to
Mary in Luke 1 something very different
happens. Mary has the grace to recognize
that this Angel isn’t God and Gabriel
acknowledges that Mary isn’t just some
ordinary girl but a girl that has been
prepared by God from her conception to
be the Mother of the God-Man, Jesus
Christ.

A3. “Blessed among women”

After the Angel Gabriel left Mary she
went to see her cousin Elizabeth who in
her old age was pregnant with John the
Baptist. In Luke 1:41 after Mary greeted
Elizabeth, Elizabeth was filled with the
Holy Spirit and John the Baptist leaped in
her womb in joy at the sound of Mary’s
voice. The Holy Spirit talking through
Elizabeth said to Mary “Blessed are you
among women, and blessed is the fruit of
your womb!” Wow, the third person of
the blessed Trinity inspired Elizabeth to
deem Mary blessed amongst all women;
Mary isn’t just some ordinary woman.
These words of the Holy Spirit talking
through Elizabeth make up the middle of
the Hail Mary “blessed are you amongst
women and blessed is the fruit of they
womb, Jesus”

A4. She is the Mother of the Lord

Jesus wasn’t created, as the Nicene Creed
proclaims “He was begotten, not made,
one in being with the Father, through
him all things were made.” So how is
Mary, a creation of God, the mother of
God? This answer is intertwined with the
mystery of the Trinity and the
Incarnation. The Father, Son and Holy
Spirit are of the same substance but are
unique. The 2nd person of the trinity,
Jesus Christ, entered time and space and
took on Mary’s flesh in the incarnation;
when this happened Mary became the
mother of Jesus. Since Mary is the mother
of Jesus that makes her the mother of
God. Mary is not the mother of the
trinity, she did not exist before the
trinity; she is the mother of the 2nd
person of the trinity in the flesh, Jesus
Christ.
Many protestant Christians today say that
Mary was not the mother of God but just
the mother of Jesus. If Mary is not the
mother of God but just the mother of
Jesus then this assumes that Jesus is not
God. This ideology reapeats a 1600 year
old heresy that was disputed and resolved
at the Council of Ephesus in 431AD. The
heretic Nestorius claimed that Jesus Christ
wasn’t divine and that Mary should be
called the Christotokos (Christ bearer)
instead of the Theotokos (God-bearer)
since Jesus isn’t God. The Church at this
council reaffirmed that Jesus is divine
and since he is divine that makes Mary
the Mother of God so rightfully so she
was to be called the Theotokos, God-
bearer.

A5. My soul magnifies the Lord, my
spirit rejoices in God my Savior”

After Elizabeth declares that Mary is
blessed amongst women, Mary sings what
is known as the Canticle of Mary (Luke
1:46-55). In verse 46 Mary sings that her
soul magnifies the Lord. Think about
that. The beauty and purity of Mary’s
soul magnifies or intensifies the presence
of the Lord. It has been said that Jesus is
like the sun; the source of light and Mary
is like the moon, reflecting that light of
God. Mary is not just a vessel that held
Christ, Mary’s body and soul was created
particularly by God to be a living
tabernacle of the Word of God, Jesus
Christ. To say that Mary was just a mere
vessel is undermining that majesty of God
by undermining the greatness of his
creation.
Mary then says in verse 47 that her
“spirit rejoices in God my savior” Mary is
rejoicing in God because he has created
her and destined her to the Mother of his
Son. God has granted Mary particular
graces that no other human has….the
graces needed to be the Mother of God.
The Catholic’s honor and love for Mary
reflects the deep love of God who made
her who she is.

A6. The Blessed Mother

In Luke 1:48 Mary proclaims that “All
generations will call me blessed..” God
created Mary as such a pure, graced filled
creation that from then on until all
eternity she will be called blessed. This is
where Catholics get the title of “The
Blessed Mother”; it’s straight out of the
Bible.

A7. She is the Mother of Humanity

Mary was chosen to be the mother of
Jesus but she is also our Mother. In John
19:26-27 when Jesus is on the Cross he
looks at his mother and says “Woman,
behold your son!” and then he looks at
John and says “Behold, your mother!”
Since early in the history of the Church
this has been interpreted as Jesus
extending Mary’s motherhood to all of
humanity. This can be better understood
in relation to the Father and the Son.
God the Father has one son, Jesus Christ,
but by extension of our baptism Jesus’
son ship is extended to all Christians so
we truly become sons and daughters of
God. In a similar yet different situation
by Jesus’ words on the cross Mary’s
Motherhood is extended to all of us.
Although Mary is human and the Father
is divine we have a mother in heaven
who loves and prays for us.

A8. She suffered with Christ

Mary suffered with Jesus as only a
mother could when seeing her child being
mocked, humiliated, beaten and put to
death in the most demeaning form of the
day. Mary’s suffering was foreshadowed
by Simeon when he said to her after she
presented the baby Jesus in the temple
“Behold, this child is destined for the fall
and rise of many in Israel, and to be a
sign that will be contradicted (and you
yourself a sword will pierce) so that the
thoughts of many hearts may be
revealed.” (Luke 1:34-35).
Mary is considered a co-redeemer with
Christ due to the most personal role she
played in salvation history by saying yes
to taking on the role of the Mother of
God and accepting all the joy and
suffering which came with that. In fact
every baptized Christian is called to offer
up their suffering with that of Christ for
the salvation of souls. Paul supports this
in Colossians 1:24 where he writes “Now
I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake,
and in my flesh I am filling up what is
lacking in the afflictions of Christ on
behalf of his body, which is the church.”
Since we are members of the Body of
Christ we share in the life and mission of
Christ. Mary has a particularly important
share in this due to her unique and
intimate role as the Mother of God.

What do U expect from the lot that made touching the bible a capital offence punishable by death at a time in history. Everyone must get something clear, this monstrous religion was the product of a world political power losing face with the defiance and bravery of the church when it was birthed. In a desperate move to encourage the fleeing faithfuls to return to the city, the then reigning emperor, Constantine, declared Himself a christian.

Caught between the existing pagan worship of Rome and the new faith of Christians, he began to change the idols of Rome to the so called saints. Every prominent biblical figure in the bible was made to subsume the Roman idols, hence the idea of conferring sainthood to dead people, instead of the living in Christ.

All was an attempt to create a system of worship that would be acceptable to both the pagan Romans and the Christians of that time. This is what's called syncretism. In order to legitimise this unholy marriage of the Christian faith and idolatrous worship, a lot of dogmas began to surface.

Read and understand.

Even before i became a christian i have always wondered where that Roman title attached catholism came from , ancient rome had a strong pagan pratice which we all known from mythology over time did paganism fissle out ? No
paganism is still very much evident in catholism more like a blending of two religion
.Seriously have always wanted to ask my catholic friends, what a rosary signify ? Use of mantras catholic know as rosary has it very root in idolatry you can google mantra.
Mother and child worship is a very rampant pagan culture very wide spread from hinduism even to the idigenous yoruba paganism.
I would even have maybe reasoned with catholics but christ all through the gospel made it very clear he is the direct link to the father and his blood is what speaks for us upon the throne of grace

I think we should move closer to God and start praying for the forgiveness of sin. you will be surprised to see politicians making it to heaven and some pastors missing out.

Most Catholic church doctrines can not be proven from the Bible. They even boasted their doctrines are independent of the Scripture as evident from the quote below.
"The doctrines of the Catholic Church are entirely independent of Holy Scripture."(Familiar Explanation of Catholic Doctrine. Rev. M Muller, page 151)
Praying to mary is one of the many false teachings of the Church:
"The word Rosary means "Crown of Roses". Our Lady has revealed to several people that each time they say a Hail Mary they are giving her a beautiful rose and that each complete Rosary makes her a crown of roses .... In every apparition, the heavenly Mother has invited us to say the Rosary."(Quoted on a Catholic Website)
Members are taught to say the hail Mary and repeat it over and over again. Not only that, if you watch any Catholic TV, and see the nuns praying, you will see that they send the vast majority of their prayers to Mary, rather than Jesus. So what does Jesus Himself say about repetitive prayers?
Matthew 6:7 ...'But when ye pray, use NOT vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.'
See these also:

"That we may rightly say she (Mary) redeemed the human race together with Christ."(Benedict XV, Inter Sodalicia, 1918)
"In fact, by being assumed into Heaven she (Mary) has not laid aside the office of salvation, but by the manifold intercession she continues to obtain for us the grace of eternal salvation."(John Paul II, Dives in Misericordia, 1980, quoting Lumen Gentium)
Praise God that we have His Word to expose these false and dangerous teachings. There is ONLY ONE Mediator between God and man, and that is Christ Jesus. The Bible also reveals that those who have died in Christ are still in their graves awaiting the resurrection. Mary is in her grave, NOT in heaven.
1 Timothy 2:5 .....'For there is one God, and ONE MEDIATOR between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.'

You see yourself, u call yourself a Christian and you don't act according to what is written down in the Bible. Let me tell you something, "Once u ain't acting according to the Bible, then its not of God"
am telling you! these people would rather listen to the words of the bishops, popes rather than what is written in the Bible. (the word of God )

Why do you interprete everything as slander to Mary? your ideology is no different from the Muslims who think that everything is an insult to Mohammed.

Then the woman, and went off to make war on the rest of HER OFFSPRING, ON THOSE WHO KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD AND BEAR TESTIMONY TO JESUS...........

My fellow nairalanders if you really want to win this battle, then you must cling to 'YOUR MOTHER, MY MOTHER, OUR MOTHER', MARY 'The Immaculate Conception'
she isn't my mother, and she isn't our mother. and your understanding of that passage is wrong.

As if the CR.AP story about the Holy Trinity is not ST.UPID enough..Catholics have to put Mary into the EQUATION..How any reasonable human being makes sense of all these religious B***sh*t in this day and age amazes me..

You probably know close to nothing about Bible prophecy. Who told you that woman in Revelation 12 is a literal woman. What about the woman in Revelation 17? Do you have anything to say about her? Are we to expect a woman riding some weird beast all over the world?

Please answer this question for me. Your teaching that if it is not in the bible then its not important, or that nothing should be added to the bible, from where is it founded. If it is in the bible please point it out and if not then it is wrong. Gbam.

Note, the bible is not a story book. and messages are not passed like your reader Edet lives in calabar.

King David is the
man after God's heart and God made a
promise to him. CHRONICLE 17:11-14
11 And it shall come to pass, when thy
days be expired that thou must go to be
with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed
after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I
will establish his kingdom.
12 He shall build me an house, and I will
stablish his throne for ever.
13 I will be his father, and he shall be my
son: and I will not take my mercy away
from him, as I took it from him that was
before thee:
14 But I will settle him in mine house and in
my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall
be established for evermore.

and this God fulfilled by sending Jesus whoes lineage could be traced back to David through Mary. for more information go to this thread

www.nairaland.com/1581928/lineage-jesus-mary-not-joseph
sorry Davids lineage can be traced down to Joseph and not Mary. Mary was blessed and choosen because she was to marry Joseph. Of cos she must have been a good person too

Annatom, thanks for ur response. You have said it all. Many people that lacks the gift of the holy spirit often misinterpret the bible just like the OP did. May God continue to fill u with the Holy Spirit.

Ok, I give it to U. Revelation 22:18-19 NKJV

For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

I thought I have answered this before. The Holy condemns the worship of Images(we both have agreed that bowing does not necessarily means worship). Please since the inception of our argument state where I added anything to the bible. As a matter of fact I have quoted the bible in some of my posts. Please don't judge me less you be judged.
