skentelelady: So how would you have liked the succeeding Nigerian post colonial govts to build ''standard missionary schools'' instead of the 130 full fledged universities we have today? Are you really so ignorant that you think missionary secondary schools are an adequate replacement for universities? People had the opportunity to travel abroad for university education then or how did the people that fought for it have their university degrees? So how would you like the present govt to say ''ok, no universities in Nigeria. If you want to go to university, travel abroad!''. You would be the first to abuse them. But white rulers did it, so they get a pass in your book. SOMETIMES I THINK SOME OF YOU WERE CURSED TO TURN DUMB & STUP.ID wherever whites are concerned. what are you benefiting from your crude oli now, where is your palm oil and your cocoa? Do you still have tin and rubber in Nigeria. Crude oil I got an education for starters. YOUR education was wasted because you still think like a slave even though you've been set free. Cocoa, palm oil etc are doing well, and the monies are not being deposited in London as was the case under your colonial masters. And how many nigerian universities is in top 100 in Africa and how many are in top 5000 in the world But you said it was ok for the whites to just build missionary schools for you. So what are you looking at top 100 universities for? South Africa that waited patiently just look at where they are today in the world in terms of resources and education South Africa was already a developed nation by the 1940s, because the apartheid regime invested its resources in the country, unlike what the colonial regime did in Nigeria (ie siphon resource earnings to London). The problem in Nigeria was not that the whites were not there long enough. It was that they were there for 63 years and did virtually NOTHING for our development, which was why we were a grossly underdeveloped nation with almost non-existent infrastructure at independence in 1960 despite their exporting our resources for huge profits annually for 63 years prior. Always do your facts right before you post online because most of us aint fools You sound like a VERY big fool. Nigeria was not right for independence in 1960 take it or leave it Without independence you would be a hunter of rabbits and cockroaches, or a tailor, or a shoemaker, or a carpenter. Nothing more. Tell me. What was your grandfather's job? |

What is beautiful about the le-meridien in Uyo? It's out of the context here. The beautiful buildings are all majorly high rise buildings. Le-meridien, national mosque, lagos cathedral should be removed they ain't beautiful |

Nice thread, good buildings and an excellent camera for the shots. Bt wait o, the interiors of these buildings and many others would've been good in showing th good sides of our dear nation if those film makers use places like these if need be. But what we see is danfo, and plain buildings, with poor screenplay and video of relatively very low quality. Our film makers shud rise, govt shud rise too. If am seeing things like these in 9ja movies frequently, 9ja would've ave been a place 2 visit 4 tourist wishing 2 explore Africa, Walahi! |

ROSSIKE: It is clearly shown that you are daft walahi How many of your present federal govt schools can withstand those missionary schools presently? Atleast the set a good foundation which our generations and many to come will continue to benefit from Outta the 130 public pry school universities, tell me the one is among the top 10 or 20 in Africa presently And with the 130 universities, how many Nigerian youths still travel abroad or even to Ghana for university degrees every year I am sure you are one senseless son/family of a politicians I dont have time to exchange words with an educated illiterate and mediocre like you Good night 1 Like |

skentelelady: Do missionary schools even still exist? Federal government colleges are more than a match for any of them. At least they set a good foundation which our generations and many to come will continue to benefit from That's not a lot for 63 years uninterrupted rule is it? ''Setting a foundation'' by establishing a few missionary schools to school their future clerks? Outta the 130 public pry school universities, tell me the one is among the top 10 or 20 in Africa presently How many of your white-built ''standard missionary schools'' can stand beside our black-built universities? Answer: ZERO. Yet you value the former over the latter. You are a slave-minded, colonized goon with nothing upstairs. Someone should throw you back to the colonial days so you can ride rickety bicycles on village paths, wear khaki shorts, and sing God Save the Queen to your heart's content. |

Re: Nigeria's Most Beautiful Buildings (pics) by Nobody: 11:24pm On Oct 23, 2014 |
TomSowell: Ok, so why don't we all go back to being shoemakers, tailors and carpenters and abandon our education-enabled jobs like banking, IT, law, medicine, engineering and entrepreneurship? Surely we'd fare better as a nation and develop quicker if we were all shining shoes and doing menial work requiring just primary school education! Want to attend university? Travel abroad! Here, we just do ''standard missionary schools''. |

So, ROSSIKE, what's the purpose of this thread? Are you trying to show us how the most "beautiful" buildings in Nigeria have some of the worst architecture and aesthetics in the world, and why Nigeria is more of a 4th world country in terms of infrastructures? Or is this just another delusional ROSSIKE thread to celebrate utter mediocrity? 2 Likes |

^^^ I honestly thought you'd grown past this sort of silly post. For someone who lives in drab, boring London, a place where people actually frown on modern architecture, you sure have a lot of nerve coming in here and typing crapsticks. 2 Likes |
